Giz Wiz Show 1733 June 27, 2019 Independent Show #215

Wow! The Giz Wiz Show started year 13 overall & our 5th year of Independent Production! (First Giz Wiz show was February 20th, 2006.) Thanks to our wonderful Patreon supporters we continue on! If it wasn't for them, the Giz Wiz Show would be gone. If you'd like to support OMGchad & DickDe in our independent venture (we pay for everything ourselves, including travel) just click the Patreon link at the top of our show web page: http://www.gizwiz.tv.  You can also contribute just once via the PayPal link that's there too. Thank you for doing that! Our show wouldn't exist without our viewer's support, but a bit more support would be a big help. Thanks from OMGchad & DickDe!

This week we look at 3 new and unique  gadgets from Pepcom's Digital Experience, June 2019 in NYC.

A Trash That Seals The Trash Bag & Replaces It With A Fresh One.

The spokesperson at Townew said: "we want to make taking out the trash just a bit cleaner, a tad simpler, and a little faster. A simple swipe motion opens and closes the lid quietly. Trash bag full? Simply hold the button for 3 seconds and their built-in thermoplastic sealing technology automatically seals the trash bag inside to guarantee no spilling or exposure to any bad odor. Their self-seal is also designed to be moisture and water-resistant. But wait, there's more! There's a clever overload feature. The Townew detects when the trash can is too full, so it lifts the top compartment so it can still seal the bag, guaranteeing you no spillage. Trash Bag Refills ship in a refill ring. The company says their durable trash bags are made with PE Material, which is better for the environment. Each refill ring contains up to 25 durable trash bags and lasts approximately one month. Each Townew pre-order comes with three refill rings— which is about a 3-month supply! Right now a unit is about $70, but that can change because it's on Indiegogo and pricing will depend on demand. There is an estimated price of $5 to $10 for refill rings of 25 bags. Actual Townew trash bins are expected to ship in September, 2019.

According to MineLab, Metal Detecting Is Still A Big Thing!

The company spokesperson said many people still love the adventure of finding hidden treasure underground. And Minelab helps make that possible. At PepCom they featured two of the company’s most exciting new detectors. The company says their EQU|NOX and GO-FIND metal detectors are the most powerful and accurate detectors on the market. They utilize innovative and interactive technology for precise detection results. The sleek and lightweight EQU|NOX Series uses a proprietary Simultaneous Multi-Frequency feature to unearth the smallest jewelry, coins and metal fragments. Equipped with high-speed wireless audio to use with WM 08 or Bluetooth headphones, The GO-FIND series offers detectorists of all ages the same metal detecting technology used by professionals and experts at an affordable price. It is a perfect gift for families to find treasure and historical clues that may reveal secrets of the past. The EQU|NOX and GO-FIND Series detectors are available through Minelab’s Global Dealer Network.

Chad's Crappy Corner & His Final Gadget For His June Theme.

Chad's June Gadget Theme is “Cheap Funny & Silly Gadgets” and his final gadget is the Toilet Memory Game! Yes, you read that right! Here's what Amazon says about the Toilet Memory Game: Turn potty time into a party with this fun game! The toilet memory game lights up with LEDs & plays musical tones that you watch, remember & repeat. Operate the game board with your feet & play while you sit! Never be bored while you do your business – sharpen your memory instead!

And Chad's take: Chad says this is a bit like the electronic game Simon, but this one doesn't keep score from your previous game. Every time you start the game it starts at the easiest level and gets more complicated the better you play. As you'll see in the video, Chad was pretty good at playing this game, although he played with his hands with the game on his desk. For bathroom use, the game goes on the floor and you play using your feet! Chad bought his at FiveBelow where he paid only $5. If you don't have a FiveBelow near you, it's on the company website for $5 + $5 shipping. It's also on Amazon, but there it's $12.97 with free shipping for Prime Members. Chad thought it was pretty good for $5, but you'll have decide if you want to pay more should you not be near a FiveBelow.

Dick's Gadget Warehouse & How to Submit Your Viewer Video On Any Gadget!

It's another warehouse video from our most frequent contributor Mo Torres, with a gadget he never knew existed, nor did I. Mo discovered it, and I'll be buying some of these for myself. If you use Cat5e/Cat6 cables you might have a use for these too. Here's Mo's email:

Hey guys

I want to show you a item that I wish I had found , or knew about, when I worked in the i. t. Section of the NYPD. We had over 300 locations, which ment that we dealt  with hundreds to thousands of of cables, and many times the cable clips, at the end of the Ethernet cable, would break. We us to tie the broken cables to the cables next to them, to keep the cable with the broken clip in place. This was a temporary solution, but this item would have solved the issue. Check it out.

********************************
We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show, so here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.
-
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
-
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
-
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you'll also get an autographed 35-year-old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live, I can email an autographed to you Alfred E. Neuman photo if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it's a copy. We've tested it out and fans say they look terrific!

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv

Letter of the week:

From: Steve Davison

Subject: YouTube video for Chad  --- (And Steve's take on his Pixel 3a)

I watched this a few minutes ago & thought Chad would be horrified to watch it.

BTW, my Pixel 3a really has nothing spectacular about it. The only flaw is that it overheats VERY easily. I have always had my phone atop my steering wheel in its container. No other phone has ever shut off due to overheating. This one does only after having the sun looking at it for a few minutes. Even once I put the phone down on the driver seat to check the oil & it shut off due to heat. Very picky phone. 3a does NOT give the same advantages as the regular Pixel 3, you do not get unlimited original sized photos in Google Drive as they do offer with the 3. Night pictures are far better than my Motorola, as I sent you when I first got it, but everything else appears the same as any other Android.
