The Giz Wiz Show 1677, June 1st 2018 Independent Show #160

I discovered this clock in my room when I was at Interbike 2018 in Reno. It's very compact, has two USB charging port and two 3-prong outlets on the top. It's supposed to be easy to set with just one single knob on top. But it is? You'll see me setting it in the video. When I got home I was surprised to find the Cubietime clock is available on Amazon for about $58. That price seemed a bit high to me, but it had hundreds of reviews and got four-plus stars. I guess people liked it and felt like spending nearly $60 for a clock. As I preparing for this week's show I found another clock on Amazon that looks very similar to the Cubietime, but offers 3 USB charging ports, 2 AC plugs, more time setting buttons and cost far less at about $40. It has less reviews because it's newer to Amazon, but the reviews are also very good. It's worth checking out if you need new a compact clock with charging ports for the desk or night table.

Chad's final gadget for his theme for November.

Chad polled our loyal Patreon members and asked them to vote on his 'cheap gadget theme' for November. The winner was “Cheap Breakfast Gadgets”!

Chad's final 'cheap kitchen gadget' the Whiskware Batter Mixer. He hoped it would be better than the disastrous Flipping Fantastic pancake device on the last show. Here's a bit of what Amazon says about it: Whip up smooth batters with minimal cleanup. Simply add your ingredients, drop in the BlenderBall, and shake. When you're finished cooking, the batter mixer cleans up in less than 30 seconds. Simply add soap and warm water, shake, and rinse. Chad bought his at Bed Bath & Beyond for $14.99. (I see it on Amazon at all different prices, one as low as $9, but I don't know if they're exactly same. The photos do look the same.)

And Chad's take?

Chad liked this a lot. It did everything the box copy said it would. And after last week's disastrous pancake maker this one was a big step up. Be sure to watch the whole video because Chad discovers a way to make the unit stand up easier toward the end of his report. Chad bought his at Bed Bath & Beyond for $14.99. But's it's probably also on Amazon.

+++++++++++++++++++++++

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show, so here's what we're looking for!

Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:

I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.

-

I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.

-

My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.

-

My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.

-

Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you'll also get an autographed 35-year-old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live, I canemail an autographed to you Alfred E. Neuman photo if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it's a copy. We've tested it out and fans say they look terrific!

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv

Letter of the week:

Hi Dick and Chad,

I had to share this with you guys because you are always talking about Amazon and their sometimes screwed up pricing system. I was looking for some almond flour today and came across this "deal".

I need 2 bags but I think I'll just buy 2 singles. Lol.

As always, love the show,

Linda Norman

The Giz Wiz Show 1702, November 23rd 2018 Independent Show #185

The Giz Wiz Show is far into it's 13th year of production, and the fourth year of Independent Production! (The very first show was February 20th, 2006.) Thanks to our wonderful Patreon supporters we continue on! If it wasn't for them, the Giz Wiz Show would be gone. If you'd like to support OMGchad & DickDe in our independent venture (we pay for everything ourselves, including travel) just click the Patreon link at the top of our show web page: http://www.gizwiz.tv. You can also contribute just once via the PayPal link that's there too. And thank you for doing that! Our show wouldn't exist without our viewer's support, but a bit more support would be a big help. Thanks from OMGchad & DickDe!)

This week we check out three more toys that might for a more fun holiday or gift consideration.

Fun for the whole family with Reindeer Ring Toss Game.

When I saw this game on Amazon I thought it looked like a great fun game for family fun on the holidays. Something to get everybody - kids and adults involved. I ordered a set of two, and I paid about $11.00. First, here's what Amazon says about them: Let's play Christmas Reindeer games! You throw 2 red and 2 green round rings onto the large Reindeer Antlers on your friend's head!Take turns wearing the antlers and make your own games. Great fun for your holiday party. It's funny and fun to play. Buy several and give them as party favors or Stocking Stuffers! – Well, you'll have to have this week's show to see the quality of these reindeer games. They're cheaply made and as you'll see by the reviews often don't inflate and sometimes have leaks in them. But through it all, most people said they still had fun. I did too as you'll see in the video. They don't seem to hold air which makes them look goofy on your head, but you can still play ring toss even if not totally inflated. It actually seems to make it funnier. Be sure to buy a 2-pack since the quality of the product is so low.
