Giz Wiz Show 1599 for December 3rd, 2016, Our 83nd Independent Production.

Thanks to our wonderful Patreon supporters The Giz Wiz Show not only continues, but is well into its 2nd year of independent production. If you'd like to support OMGchad & DickDe in our independent venture (we pay for everything ourselves, including travel) just click the Patreon link at the top of our show web page: http://www.gizwiz.tv/. You can also contribute just once via the PayPal link that's there too. And thank you for doing that! Our show wouldn't exist without our viewer's support. And now, onto the show!

On this episode we continue with our preview look at CES 2017, with new, high-tech gadgets we found at CES Unveiled, New York.

Make yourself up dozens of times for free! (With this virtual app.)

Turn your smart phone into a selfie makeover camera for hairstyles, lipstick, eye makeup, and more! As you'll see in the video, women can create makeup looks, try new hairstyles and change hair color instantly. You can do a makeover in real-time or do it on your selfie photos. For fun you can use the app to record a makeover mashup video. Simply try on a series of makeup looks automatically and record them in a short video. (This feature is available for Android 5.0 devices with 1GB or more.) But there is an iOS app too. Here's a few more things the app can do: adjust skin tones and effortless tans, face editor includes skin smoother and skin toner for flawless skin, change eye color and overlay makeup to style your look up or down for any occasion. The app is free and it seems to have done very well in the reviews.

Some of the products you try on are available to buy right in the app which is why I'm sure the app is free and that millions have downloaded it.

A 4 Color, 4 Materials 3D Printer For Under $1,000.

I don't know a lot about 3D printers, but MAKE Magazine does! The December 2016/January 2017 issue of MAKE Magazine said some amazing things about the Prusa i3 MK2 3D printer. Here are just a few details from the magazine: Prusa Research has raised the bar for consumer 3D printing platforms while not breaking the bank. And with its total score of 36 points — more than any machine we’ve ever tested — the Prusa i3 MK2 became the machine all the testers wanted, and more than one of us went home and immediately placed an order. The MK2 boasts an E3D all-metal hot end, a next-generation heated bed with PEI print surface, bed-leveling compensation, and a 31% larger print volume over the previous i3. Available as a kit, assembled printer, or upgrade option for the original i3 model, the MK2 offers beautiful prints across a multitude of plastic filament options. The Prusa i3 MK2 kit is $699.00. Fully assembled and tested: $899.00 But wait, there's more! Prusa has released a new 4 material upgrade for the Prusa i3 MK2. It is the first consumer option available to print with 4 different materials or colors simultaneously. The use of up to 4 material feeders with only one hotend makes the solution calibration free and much easier to use than currently available systems. Preorders are at $199 for 2 material option and $249 for the 4 material option. You need to have the Prusa i3 MK2 3D printer to use these add-ons. Full details at the company website.

Here's a fascinating video - it's the Prusa 3D Printing Farm! A single 3D printer can print all the parts for another new printer every day. And dozens of them print parts round the clock 24/7.

This company took a 'germ' of an idea and built a way kill it, along with millions more germs.

Here's what the company says: Germs are a fact of life. Many germs are actually beneficial to us. But for the bad ones—the dangerous, illness causing, and potentially life-threatening ones—there’s Ellie with patented TRUVIOLET technology. By using digital UV light, Ellie kills germs in a matter of seconds, eradicating E. coli, Salmonella, Staph and Listeria, plus antibiotic-resistant superbugs such as MRSA. It’s the most powerful, portable solution for sterilizing bottles, pacifiers and anything babies put in their mouths. I asked them if it could used other things like toothbrushes, cell phones, etc. They told me it anything that fits into the Ellie can be germ free in 60 seconds. ---And evidently, lots of people agree! When I checked on their Indiegogo Campaign on 11/29/16 they had $67,397 raised by 617 backers. They equaled 168% of their $40,000 flexible goal. And at that time the campaign still had more than three weeks to go.

Chad's Crappy Corner & His New Theme For December.

Chad polled our loyal Patreon members and asked them to vote on his new theme for December. They voted and the winner is “Stocking Stuffers”, a perfect pick for December.

Chad's first 'Stocking Stuffer” gadget is Spark Innovators Engrave it Pro. If that sound familiar it's, it's also an “As Seen on TV” gadget. Chad bought his one Amazon and here's what Amazon says about it:

Engrave your personal property yourself-safely and easily-and protect valuables against theft. Engrave-It easily etches metal, wood, glass, leather, plastic and more. Includes the Engrave-It unit, 3 hard plastic stencils of letters, numbers and shapes and a BONUS replacement tip FREE. On/off switch. Uses 2 AA batteries (not included). 7"L. Engraves On: Metal Glass Plastic Wood And more! $9.24 and Amazon Prime, so free shipping for Prime Members.

It's here on Amazonhttp://amzn.to/2gMxLW2

And Chad's take: As you'll see in the video of this week's show, Chad could hardly believe the packaging which says you could even run it over a balloon and the balloon won't break. Chad tried and broke the 1st two balloons. Someone suggested maybe they meant do it with the device in the “off” position. Chad tried that and still the balloon burst. But, you wouldn't be using Engrave-it Pro on a balloon anyway. Chad tried wood, and that worked pretty good. He tried metal, and engraved a star on a pair of scissors using one of the included stencils. That worked good too. It worked okay also on plastic too. The included stencils were to big to engrave some items, but all in all, Chad (and the chatroom) thought this was a decent gadget for $10.

Dick's Gadget Warehouse & How to Submit Your Viewer Video.

We have another viewer video and it's our favorite kind – a gadget of the past. As a matter of fact it's a very expensive, about $1,000, gadget of the past. Today you can buy something that does what this does, and it does it a lot better, and it's included free with your cell phone. Can you guess what it is? Here's the short, short email with the link:

Hi Dick & Chad,

This is a very short video, so if you can't use it, I'll understand.

We’re looking for more Viewer Videos!

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show, so here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:

I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.-

I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.-

My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.-

My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.-

Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll a tiny amount of fame (hopefully), an autographed MAD magazine and a 35-year-old Alfred E. Neuman picture. So that's one more (so-so) reason to send in your video!

IMPORTANT: We'll just shower you with praise for your video if you live outside the US or Canada since we can't afford to send stuff outside of those two places. (Thanks for understanding.)

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv
