Want An Unusual Phone Case? Meet The DIRECTORS MOVIE CLAPBOARD

I rarely talk about phone cases, but this one is unusual! (At least to me.) It's this Directors Movie Clapboard case and it's a reminder of the old clapboards you saw in movies about Hollywood. The company says their phone cases provides a protective yet stylish shield between your phone and accidental bumps, drops, and scratches. It features a slim and lightweight profile, precise cutouts, and provides easy access to all ports, plugs, and buttons. The image is fully printed on aluminum inlay attached to the case. Available as slim plastic case for sleek appearance or as a rubber-bumpered case for maximum protection.

It's available in black or white. Not badly priced at about $14 to $16 depending on the phone model. I paid $7.95 more for expedited shipping, but it still took ten days to arrive. Casepersona a Directors Movie Clapboard case for 27 different phones. You'll find lots of other companies that make these too, but the best looking ones are the ones with a horizontal clapboard. The ones with vertical clapboards just look wrong! (At least to me.)

Want more monitors to share your work, videos, but 3D games, not so much.

Plugable says you can multitask better by adding a dedicated monitor for each document or application. Hmmm, is that to help you better or for them to sell more units. I guess both! I bought the Plugable UGA-3000 display adapter. Here's what the company says about it. It allows you to connect an additional monitor to virtually any Windows laptop, desktop, or tablet PC with an available USB 3.0 or 2.0 port. Supports DVI, VGA, and HDMI displays up to 2048x1152 with included passive adapters. One adapter is required per monitor, up to six adapters supported on most PCs. It features the DisplayLink DL-3100 USB 3.0 graphics chipset, and works by rendering graphics with your computer's CPU and GPU, and then compressing and transmitting the pixels that change over USB. 2GHz dual core or better CPU and at least 2GB of RAM recommended. Best suited for web and productivity software, not 3D gaming or HD video playback. No power plug is needed – power is provided by USB and the adapter has an LED indicator light. Compatible with Windows 10, 8.1/8, 7, XP. (Drivers can be automatically installed via Windows Update or downloaded directly from Plugable.) Also supports monitors/projectors and PC-compatible TVs up to 1920x1080. Under $50.00

Carry Water And Pills Just About Anywhere.

This neat little gadget is called Port O Pill. And the company boasts: Pills + Water / Anytime, Anywhere! Never get caught without water or medication again. Leak-resistant, refillable container. Now the company says “Holds up to 10 pills” but that will surely depend the kind of pills, but I don't think that's important. Changes are you'll carry this with just the pills you need for one day. Carrying only 1.5 ounces of water, it meets FAA plane rules for carry-on liquids. It's small enough for backpack, purse, glove box, and maybe a pocket if you're wearing cargo pants. BPA Free and top rack dishwasher safe. There are only 14 reviews on Amazon, but it got 3.7 stars out of 5. And it's inexpensive at $5.20 and it's Amazon Prime.

UPDATE: After using this for a couple of months it started to leak, so I no longer recommend it.

Chad's Crappy Corner And His Final Gadget For His August Theme. (We recorded this show Aug. 31st.)

This is Chad's final “Cheap Gadgets From Thrift Stores” item, his theme for August. (We recorded this show the last day of August.) It's has one of the stranger names: Ji Ga Zo. And here's a bit of what Amazon says about it: Take puzzle making to revolutionary new heights with Ji Ga Zo, Hasbro's amazing new puzzle game. Ji Ga Zo lets you create mosaic-style pictures of anyone--from the Mona Lisa to your best friend--all with the same 300 pieces. As long as you have a digital image, Ji Ga Zo can turn it into a puzzle. Ji Ga Zo is recommended for puzzle-makers ages eight and up, and it requires a personal computer and printer.

And Chad's take: Chad thought it was a clever item and said it's unlike any other jigsaw puzzle you know - all the puzzle piece are the shape! Take any digital image and turn into a puzzle, all with the same 300 pieces. The Ji Ga Zo puzzle pieces have special shading that lets them create almost any face image. Each piece is marked on the reverse side with a unique icon for reference in creating your puzzle. Actually, it's sort of complicated, so watch Chad's do the demo on this show. He used an Alfred E. Neuman photo for his puzzle. (Yes, MAD's mascot.) The puzzles are in sepia, and not very detailed, but Chad thought this is a fun project and he paid about $5 for it, still brand new in it's plastic wrapper.

Dick's Gadget Warehouse & How to Submit Your Viewer Video.

Hi Chad and Dick,

I really enjoy watching your show except for the fact it can be very expensive, if you are a gadget person like I am. I have some gadgets in my kitchen that I don’t know what they do and I don’t even cook, but I can’t get rid of them.

Anyway this is a small gadget that I found that is just for fun.

Here is the link: https://youtu.be/GUQZfyk2dH8
Keep up the great show, Arlis

We’re looking for more Viewer Videos!

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show, so here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:

I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.

-

I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.

-

My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.

-

My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.

-

Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll a tiny amount of fame (hopefully), an autographed MAD magazine and a 35-year-old Alfred E. Neuman picture. So that's one more (so-so) reason to send in your video!

IMPORTANT: We'll just shower you with praise for your video if you live outside the US or Canada since we can't afford to send stuff outside of those two places. (Thanks for understanding.)

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv
