The Giz Wiz Show 1629 for June 30th 2017, Our 112th Independent Production.

We're into our third year of Independent Production thanks to our wonderful Patreon supporters! If you'd like to support OMGchad & DickDe in our independent venture (we pay for everything ourselves, including travel) just click the Patreon link at the top of our show web page: http://www.gizwiz.tv/ You can also contribute just once via the PayPal link that's there too. And thank you for doing that! Our show wouldn't exist without our viewer's support, but a bit more support would be a big help.

And now a look at three final new tech gadgets from Pepcom's Digital Experience, New York City, June 15th, 2017.

Turn your non-touch computer into a touch screen computer for under $100.

It's the AirBar Sensor by Neonode. As you'll see in the video, AirBar gives your PC and MacBook Air touchscreen capabilities. The sleek, lightweight device emits an invisible light field over a laptop screen that senses touch from any finger, stylus, paintbrush, etc. AirBar enables touch for most PC laptops running Windows® 10, as well as the MacBook Air 13”.

The sleek matte black (PC) or brushed aluminum (Mac) bar attaches to the bottom of a display with magnets and connects instantly through a USB port. No software installation for the PC-compatible device, and only a quick software installation for the Mac-compatible device is required. The device is available in three different sizes to fit a variety of PC screens: 13.3”, 14” and 15.6”, as well as a Mac-compatible version that fits the MacBook Air 13”.

Meet the MEEM memory-charging cable

MEEM is a fresh new take on smartphone back up. It's a phone charger cable that automatically backs up personal data on a smartphone to the cable. And it does that every time the phone is charged. With people using phones more and more for high quality photos and video and quick text communications, a phone’s storage fills up quickly with precious content and the more personal information stored, the higher the anxiety of losing or having that data stolen is. With MEEM, backing up your smartphone is a simple solution that fits into a daily routine. Just plug in your MEEM (either for an Android or iPhone device) choose and confirm a four-digit PIN and back up of your personal data starts immediately. MEEM keeps personal data safe in your hands, under your physical control, and inaccessible to anyone else. MEEM is available to purchase in the UK, Europe and North America direct through the manufacturer or on Amazon. Prices start at $49.99 (on Amazon as of 6/29/17) and will depend on if it's for iOS or Android and the amount of memory inside.

An Innovative Electric Personal Vehicle

I like that the Immotor GO stands on three wheels, because that means it's easily balanced even while at a stop. There is no learning curve and the company says you will be enjoying the ride within seconds of stepping on. After a ride it can be collapsed into its sleek self-contained case which can be pulled like a small suitcase. The proprietary battery features its own ecosystem of compatible accessories – flashlight, lamp, AC/DC charger, USB charger, etc…It weighs in at a lean 27 lbs (12 kg) with 2 batteries installed. The speed is fully variable and comes in three pre-programmed speed modes – from a walking pace up to 20 MPH. Use a key fob or the Immotor App as a digital key to unlock the GO. It also allows you to grant access to friends that wish to use it via their smartphone app. You can set a geo-fence for their ride. Range is up to 20 miles on a single charge depending on battery configuration and use. It uses a charger that plugs into any standard 120-220 volt wall outlet and fully recharges in 3 to 4 hours. $1499.00.

Chad's Crappy Corner & His Final Gadget For His Unique Theme For June.

Chad came up with a different idea for the June theme. He polled our loyal Patreon members and had them vote of a type of store Chad where should buy all the gadgets for the month of June. That way listeners would have a better chance of finding the same item Chad reviewed at a store near them. Our Patreon members picked “Large Drug Store Chains” as the place Chad should find Cheap Gadgets for June. So at his local CVS drug store Chad found the Black Spider-XT Remote Helicopter, which the Giz Wiz also found on Amazon.

This is what Amazon had to say about it: Easy to fly. 2 Channel Infrared Helicopter. Built in LED Light. Remote Controller Requires (6) AA Batteries (Not Included)

Ages 9+. --- The reviews online weren't very good. It sells for $15.99.

And Chad's take: From the minute Chad opened the box things didn't look good. There was an opened empty clear plastic bag, so something was missing. It came with a spare propeller B, but no spare propeller A. That didn't seem to make much difference because as you'll see in Chad's video, the helicopter really don't fly. It spins in the air for a few seconds and then crashes. The control uses IR, which is line of sight control, so it didn't work outdoors. So Chad thought that was the problem and it would fly indoors. It didn't! CVS had it marked for $20, but it was on sale for $15.00. It is an Official Chad Piece Of Crap!

Dick's Gadget Warehouse & How to Submit Your Viewer Video.

The AUTOGRAFX Electro-Cling Super-Graphics package dates back to late 1992. This company offered wildly colored designs for the hood or the sides of your car that were held in place with something the company called Electro-Cling. The trademark states that it was issued for "electrostatically charged decals for vehicles and the like." Back then I worked on a show called Steals & Deals on CNBC and I had a chance to see if the product really worked. I have never owned a car in my life, and haven’t driven in more than 20 years. Since CNBC was in New Jersey & I didn’t drive, the station sent a car for me each week. So before we headed from Manhattan over the George Washington Bridge to the studio for the show where I was going to show this product, we applied an Autografx Super-Graphic to the hood of the town car. It only took a minute or two since it basically just gets placed on the car hood, car sides or both - and is then smoothed out. We drove to CNBC hitting 65 mph in some places and – whadda know - the graphic stayed right in place. This probably would have been good for a family with one car. Maybe a younger family member wanted to attract attention when they drove, while another person who shared the car preferred to attract no attention. The AutografX could easily be applied and removed. There were more than a dozen designs and colors available, but the product wasn’t wildly successful. I don’t know of anyone who bought one. The trademark was owned by L.T. Funston & Company, Inc., Philadelphia, Pa. I found that info thanks to www.Trademarkia.com (It’s a free search engine of publicly available government records.) On the same site I read that the current federal status of this trademark filing is cancelled 12/15/2000 AUTOGRAFX ELECTRO-CLING SUPER-GRAPHICS unrevivable. If you ever used this product, we'd love to know about it!

We’re looking for more Viewer Videos!

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show, so here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:

I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.

-

I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.

-

My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.

-

My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.

-

Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll a tiny amount of fame (hopefully), an autographed MAD magazine and a 35-year-old Alfred E. Neuman picture. So that's one more (so-so) reason to send in your video!

IMPORTANT: We'll just shower you with praise for your video if you live outside the US or Canada since we can't afford to send stuff outside of those two places. (Thanks for understanding.)

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv
