Wow! The Giz Wiz Show started year 13 overall & our 5th year of Independent Production! (First Giz Wiz show was February 20th, 2006.) Thanks to our wonderful Patreon supporters we continue on! If it wasn't for them, the Giz Wiz Show would be gone. If you'd like to support OMGchad & DickDe in our independent venture (we pay for everything ourselves, including travel) just click the Patreon link at the top of our show web page: http://www.gizwiz.tv/.  You can also contribute just once via the PayPal link that's there too. Thank you for doing that! Our show wouldn't exist without our viewer's support, but a bit more support would be a big help. Thanks from OMGchad & DickDe!

Final 3 gadgets from CE Week at the Javits Center in NYC.

Two New Safety Devices Coming From Car And Driver:  The CoPilot Fatigue Monitor  & the Road Patrol Duo Touch.

According to The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, each year 100,000+ police-reported crashes are a result of driver fatigue, resulting in about 1,550 deaths, 71,000 injuries, and an estimated $12.5 billion in monetary losses. To combat this epidemic, Car & Driver designed the Copilot Fatigue Monitor. Using cutting edge facial recognition technology it monitors eye, eyelid and head positioning. If you get distracted, text and drive or begin falling asleep, the Copilot gets your attention with a loud, beeping alarm and optional vibrating seat pad. This device has all the qualities of a great copilot, without being a backseat driver. MSRP  is $179.99. Specs can change before the product reaches the marketplace. And a second new device from Car and Driver ---

Road Patrol Duo Touch Dash Cam offers everything drivers need to record and protect their side of the story including Full HD 1080p recording, 3.7" IPS screen, and a 145° field of view + a second camera for rear window or viewing passengers in the backseat. Other new value-added features including forward collision and lane departure warnings that detect and alert drivers of collisions before they occur. Additional features include Accident Auto-Record (G-sensor works while driving and parked). MSRP of each is $179.99. Specs can change before the product reaches the marketplace.

I didn't see these new gadgets offered for sale online yet as of 6/21/19. They are due out later this summer 2019.

Are You A DIY Type Person? Meet Cubit - The Ultimate Home Improvement Tool

I saw this at CE Week, but I'm not sure I totally understand how this gadget works. The company, PLOTT, says their Cubit helps install and design complex projects with ease. Everything from remodeling bathrooms and kitchens to installing shelves, cabinets and frames. Cubit connects to your smartphone via Bluetooth and our app functions as your design center, enabling you to integrate photos of your actual space using mixed reality to get the feel for how the final project will look using actual background dimensions. Add features based on their actual size, whether that is hanging pictures, cabinets, windows, or painted features. Now you have a visual design in real life scale that is fully interactive and easily manipulated.

Company video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=twiO7ZVlESg

It's $110 at Newegg: https://tinyurl.com/CubitAtNewegg  (There's another video here)

Chad's Crappy Corner & His Third Gadget For His New June Theme!

Chad's June Gadget Theme is “Cheap Funny & Silly Gadgets” and his third gadget is the Piano Keyboard Tie! Chad got his at Five Below, but he showed us that the website said it was out of stock online. We found what looks like exactly the same tie on Amazon. Here's their description: Say bye to the stuffy necktie and be the life of your next party Musical keyboard necktie's touch sensitive ivory keys each play a different note when tapped. Polypropylene "knot" features a builtin speaker and 16" long adjustable cord for an easy fit. 18 1/4" long x 3 1/2" wide polyester music tie features an on/off switch on the back. Instructions included. Piano tie requires 2 button cell batteries (included).

And Chad's Take: Chad got his Piano Keyboard Tie  at Five Below, but when he got home and opened it, he found the not-too-common LR44 batteries were dead and he had to buy new ones. The batteries set him back $10! Chad said this gadget almost makes the 'crappiest of the crappy' list because of the extra cost of the batteries, because he couldn't adjust  the tie to fit right and because the sound is well, pretty crappy. Watch this week's show to see and hear this 'musical masterpiece'! On Amazon we found it for about $10, which is less than Chad ended up paying. If you find one at a Five Below store make sure the box is sealed tight to protect the batteries.

********************************

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show, so here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:

I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.

-

I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.

-

My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.

My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.

-

Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you'll also get an autographed 35-year-old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live, I can email an autographed to you Alfred E. Neuman photo if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it's a copy. We've tested it out and fans say they look terrific!

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv
