Giz Wiz Show 1729 May 30, 2019 Independent Show #211

Wow! The Giz Wiz Show started year 13 overall & our 5th year of Independent Production! (First Giz Wiz show was February 20th, 2006.) Thanks to our wonderful Patreon supporters we continue on! If it wasn't for them, the Giz Wiz Show would be gone. If you'd like to support OMGchad & DickDe in our independent venture (we pay for everything ourselves, including travel) just click the Patreon link at the top of our show web page: http://www.gizwiz.tv/.  You can also contribute just once via the PayPal link that's there too. Thank you for doing that! Our show wouldn't exist without our viewer's support, but a bit more support would be a big help. Thanks from OMGchad & DickDe!

In host chat we talk about the Stonewall Exhibition. It's at NY Historical Society thru Sept. 22 https://www.nyhistory.org/exhibitions/stonewall-50-new-york-historical-society

On this week's show, two gadgets you may not know about, plus a unique business you most likely didn't know existed.

Having a party? Love balloons? Then meet the  Bunch O Balloons Party Pack! About 3 or 4 years ago on the Giz Wiz we featured the Bunch O Balloons automatic filling water balloons...that video is here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LlWPJg6OXL0&feature=youtu.be

Now comes new Bunch O Balloons Party Pack! Zuru says you can save time and your breath with their Bunch O Balloons Self-Sealing Party Balloons! 40 party balloons in just 40 seconds! There's no more blowing, no more tying, and no need to add ribbon or string! Simply attach the stems to our Electric Party Pump nozzle and press GO. Within seconds, your Bunch O Balloons Party Balloons will fill and self-tie with ease and convenience. Choose between 1-Stem (8 Balloons), 2-Stems (16 Balloons) or 5-Stems (40 Balloons) and all sizes fill within 40 seconds! Each Party Pump Pack comes with 16 party balloons plus adaptor & a fast-fill hose so you can inflate all your household inflatables and water toys. Reusable and Biodegrable Premium Latex Balloons. As you'll see in this week's video, it works really well. And it's a lot of fun to use.

The ZURU Bunch O Balloons Party Starter Pack comes complete with the Electric Party Pump, 48 Self-Sealing Party Balloons, helium tank adaptor and fast-fill hose attachment for other inflatables, priced at $29.99 plus postage and is available now at company website. Help cut thorough that damned 'clamshell' packaging.

The SlitIt Package Cutter can be a big help at a decent price. I found this on Amazon, bought one, tried it and made a video so you can see the results. First, here's some info from Amazon: Slitit is the perfect tool for safe and swift opening of hard plastic packages. If you've ever attempted to open one – you know the struggle. Scissors, knives, pliers, box cutters and other tools just don't work well. Every year, thousands of injuries are sustained while opening these types of packages. Slitits unique ergonomic design protects you from the hazardous sharp edges of sliced packaging – while providing you a balanced cutting action that opens packaging swiftly and smoothly. And depending on preference, can be used in push or pull motion. A precision ground stainless steel blade glides easily through the toughest plastic. And with a solid one-piece design, there are no moving parts to fail – providing you maximum durability and reliability. Was $9.95 on 6/1/19.

Old Tech Can Work as New Tech Thanks to This Company.

The company that does this is Wavelength Antiques-- turning old radios, phonographs, etc., into modern Bluetooth speakers. Here's their philosophy from Nick one of the owners of the company: At Wavelength Antiques we specialize in rescuing “farm fresh”, non functional vintage radios and bring them back to life by refurbishing and re-purposing them into absolutely beautiful Bluetooth enabled devices. It’s a surreal and transformational audio experience when you listen to period correct music on an authentic vintage radio. It literally takes you back in time. All the radios have unique looks, colors and sizes. We have radios from the Art Deco period of the 1930's/40's, Mid Century radios from the 1950's/60's, Space Age radios from the 1970's and Boom Boxes from the 1980's. Not only do these vintage pieces sound amazing, they also make great functional decorator pieces and add a unique and distinctive look to any home or office. They are truly one of a kind!

Chad's Crappy Corner & His Final Gadget For His May Theme!

Chad's May theme is “Cheap Entertainment Gadgets”. And Chad's final gadget for May is the Unicorn Power Popper. Here's what Amazon says about it: The Unicorn Power Popper can shoot foam balls up to 20 feet! Pump to shoot! Air powered pump action launches the rainbow balls faster and further! Unicorn Power Popper is rear-loaded, just lift up the fairy tail and load in the rainbow balls. Soft foam balls are safe for both indoor and outdoor play. Makes a magical and fun gift for ages 4 and up. Ships with 8 soft rainbow color balls. Manufactured by Hog Wild Toys. $19.95. Additional balls are on Amazon for $14.99 for a dozen.

And Chad's take: Chad thought this was a fun toy for kids, and his dog Charlie liked chasing the balls too. He did point out that it is a looks a little strange that you have lift the Unicorn tail to reload the foam balls. But he found the whole thing very colorful, and hey, it's a Unicorn.

Dick's Gadget Warehouse & How to Submit Your Viewer Video On Any Gadget!

Our email is from a new frequent contributor to the show: Jeffrey Slomovitz

Hello guys,

I found this old 8-Track Player and decided that I was going to have it converted to a working Bluetooth Player.  It is very nostalgic looking and was able to find a company here In NYC who was able to (convert it into a great Bluetooth speaker so I could) enjoy it.

YouTube video: Bluetooth 8-Track Player

Warm Regards, Jeff

(And that company is, of course, Wavelength Antiques, as we featured earlier on this week's show.)

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show, so here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.
-
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
-
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.
-
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
-
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you'll also get an autographed 35-year-old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live, I can email an autographed to you Alfred E. Neuman photo if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it's a copy. We've tested it out and fans say they look terrific!

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv
