Giz Wiz Show 1746 September 26, 2019 Independent Show #228

Wow! The Giz Wiz Show is in year 13 overall & our 5th year of Independent Production! (First Giz Wiz show was February 20th, 2006.) Thanks to our wonderful Patreon supporters we continue on! If it wasn't for them, the Giz Wiz Show would be gone. If you'd like to support OMGchad & DickDe in our independent venture (we pay for everything ourselves, including  travel) just click the Patreon link at the top of our show web page: http://www.gizwiz.tv. You can also contribute just once via the PayPal link that's there too. Thank you for doing that! Our show wouldn't exist without our viewer's support, but a bit more support would be a big help. Thanks from OMGchad & DickDe!

We start this week's show with three fun pet gadgets from the Time To Play Magazine Holiday Media Showcase. Yes, Pet Gadgets!

Need to take the cat to the vet? The Calm Pet Carrier could help!

The Calm Carrier has a sliding drawer that the company says eliminates need for forced loading & unloading of your cat. That means a significant reduction of travel-related fear, anxiety & stress (FAS) for pets & owners. It's engineered and built to IATA Airline standards so you can take when you fly. At home it stores efficiently when not in use (base and drawer nest completely inside the top) and it's a tool-free assembly. Other features include easy to clean finish, odor & stain resistant plastic. Flow-through ventilation on all four sides, improving pet comfort. Now it's not going to be available until early Spring, and should retail for about $50.

A New Kind Of Pet Bowl System.

It's called TROFF Bowl and the inventor said it's designed to help with a dog's hygiene by keeping their nose, muzzle and ears out of their food and water. Originally conceived for dogs with long ears, it's has features helpful to all dog owners. Here's some info from the inventor: The inner contours of TROFF bowls are specially designed to compliment your dog’s most natural instinct: to lap their food and water cleanly. In a regular dog bowl this lapping motion pushes food off to the side, and gets the food or water on their muzzle and ears, while wide, flat bottoms can leave them struggling for the last few ounces of water. Leaving you another mess to clean. But most importantly, its narrow profile keeps their ears and muzzle hair out of the bowl while eating or drinking, which will discourage the spread of bad bacteria and moisture keeping you and your dog away from the vet. They start at about $22 for a single bowl, up to about $50 for a two bowl set with it's own floor mat for both bowls.

Here's the scoop on a new gadget that carries the poop.

I think this a clever, much-needed doggie gadget, especially on long walks! Here's info from the company: Dog’s love to take walks. And while it’s nice that they love the walk they’re not the ones left holding the poop bag once the deed in done. That’s you, left holding the doo. Our product, the dooloop, is a light-weight, easy to use, solution that puts an end to the need to ever again carry poop bags in your hand throughout the walk. The dooloop is a patent-pending leash accessory to hold used poop bags when you're out on a walk. With one hand you simply slide bags on and off, your hands are free and your pockets empty. dooloops are made in Maine of bio-degradable non-toxic plastic and use zero-waste packaging that includes a ball-chain to attach your dooloop to any leash handle. Available in 5 colors, and the MSRP is $8.00

Chad's Crappy Corner and his final gadget for his September theme, 'cheap emergency gadgets'.

Chad's final Emergencies Gadget is the Smith & Wesson Self Defense Tactical Penlight.

Here's what Amazon says about it: The Smith&Wesson Self Defense Tactical Penlight is both functional and highly durable in any situation. At 5.9 inches long and weighing only 1.7 ounces, this penlight stores an LED light as well as a glass break in its pocket-sized design. This penlight also features a sharp, pointed tip for self-defense and DNA retention. The integrated pocket clip allows for clipping to the pocket or belt. (2) AAA batteries included. Under $12.00.

And Chad's take? Well, the flashlight worked, but as far as breaking glass with it? Watch the video to see what happens to Chad's Tactical Penlight.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:

I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hting? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.
-
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
-
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
-
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you'll also get an autographed 35-year-old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live, I can email an autographed to you Alfred E. Neuman photo if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it's a copy. We've tested it out and fans say they look terrific!

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv

Letter of the week:

Giz Wiz fan John writes:

Dick and Chad, I thought you might enjoy this Wikipedia entry about Roy Sullivan. If ever there was a need for a product that went unmet, this poor guy had it. If only someone had invented a lightning deflecting park ranger hat.

Note: Most Giz Wiz Amazon links on this website are 'affiliate' links. If you buy something through one of those links you pay exactly the same as everyone else, but GizWizBiz gets a small credit to purchase more gadgets to demo on shows. Thank you.
