The Giz Wiz Show 1651 for December 1st 2017, Our 134th Independent Production.

Soon, in February 2018, we'll be entering our fourth year of Independent Production! And that all thanks to our wonderful Patreon supporters! If you'd like to support OMGchad & DickDe in our independent venture (we pay for everything ourselves, including travel) just click the Patreon link at the top of our show web page: http://www.gizwiz.tv/. You can also contribute just once via the PayPal link that's there too. And thank you for doing that! Our show wouldn't exist without our viewer's support, but quite frankly, a bit more support would be a big help. (As we can say honestly, asking for more Patreon supporters is not to make more money, it's to help us lose less money doing The Giz Wiz. Thanks.)

This week I have two great gadget for dog owners, and an amazing short-throw LED projector. Chad has the 3rd gadget report this oneone, plus his final gadget for his November Theme, “Cheap Kitchen Gadgets”. I know this show is for the 1st of December, but we recorded it in November, and decided to stay with the November theme. Now on to the show!

We start with a big high-tech entertainment gadget beautifully housed in a really small package. Meet the BenQ i500 Short-Throw LED projector system.

These days you can take your online entertainment just about anywhere. And thanks to the BenQ i500, a new way to wirelessly stream larger-than-life images in limited spaces, you can take all that entertainment any place easily. And you can do it without the hassle of connecting cables, media boxes, dongles, or portable devices. The i500 combines onboard wireless Android streaming apps, with an integrated audio system. It has two 5-watt speakers and Bluetooth so you can play your music through them when not using the projector. But this gadget is really about viewing your entertainment. Be sure to watch the video to see the big size screen entertainment you can get with this unit, featuring one of the world's shortest-throw projector lenses. The i500 can project a 75" image from just 3.3 feet away. Place it even further back at 8.5 feet for an even larger picture at 200 feet. You're not limited to wireless entertainment either. At the back of the machine there are inputs for HDMI, USB 2.0, USB 3.0, PC/VGA, audio in, audio out and even microphone in! The 500 lumen bulb is said to last as long as 30,000 hours! The meager instruction pamphlet in the box does the unit a disservice. To find out all the features go to the link below to download the 75 page manual. MSRP: $749.00, but do a web search for the best price as the price seems to be changing often.

An new, easy way to get dogs to take pills!

Ever hear of PillStashios? At first I thought they had something to with pistachios, the nut, but they don't. It has to do with “pills” and how to “stash” them so your pet takes them. Lets of pet owners including me, have trouble getting their dog to take a pill. So this is a clever and easy way to do it. Hide the pill inside this new innovative treat! They look like a little nut that opens with room inside for the pill. They comes in two different sizes for different sized pills. The dog eats the treat and swallows the pill. What do they taste like? Well, I didn't try one, but my dog “Charlie” absolutely loves the apple-bacon flavored ones! There was no pill inside but I bet he would devour just as fast if there was. Here's a bit more info from the company: Using all natural, USA sourced, healthy ingredients, we cooked up some really delicious flavors. We took special care not to includes any cheap fillers, grains, gluten or soy. PillStashios are made with our patented and unique 'Smell Lock TM' closure system to ensure that dogs can't smell the pill inside or they can't separate the pill and spit it out. We offer PillStashios in a variety of delicious flavors that can be found here including; Apple Bacon, Blueberry Chicken and Cranberry Turkey. They sell for under $13.

Chad Reports On The Anker 21 Watt Solar Charger.

There's a very moving story about this device. A few months ago a viewer in Puerto Rico said he was without power for a very long time. Then he was able to find a fast food restaurant that had power and Internet. He said the 1st thing he did was download two Giz Wiz episodes so he could stay in touch with us. Chad & I were almost moved to tears. Then a viewer sent in a contribution for the show from him and his mother, along with an unusual request. He asked us to review the Anker 21W Dual USB Solar Charger and then sent it to our fan in Puerto Rico. We didn't want our fan in Puerto Rico to wait until we could do a review, so Chad sent him one right away. And now we do have time for a review which Chad did since he has ton more sun in Dallas than I do in NY. First, here's some info the device from Anker on their Amazon page:

The Anker Advantage: PowerIQ delivers the fastest possible charging speed up to 2.4 amps per port or 3 amps overall under direct sunlight. 21 watt SunPower solar array is 21.5-23.5% efficient, providing enough power to charge two devices simultaneously. Industrial-strength PET polymer faced solar panels sewn into a rugged polyester canvas offer weather-resistant outdoor durability. Compact size (11.1 × 6.3in folded or 26.4 × 11.1in opened) and stainless-steel eye-holes on each corner allow easy attachment to backpacks, trees, or tents. 14.7 oz and ultra-thin: 1.1in folded or 0.2in opened. Under $62.00 as of 11/30/17.

And Chad's report: Chad thought this device was pretty impressive. In about 30 minutes it boosted the power in the external battery pack he plugged in to the charger by about 25%. The Anker Solar Charger does not come in with a battery pack since you can charge devices directly if you want. But keeping an external battery charging all the time is a great use for this device. Chad liked the grommets built into the device but wished they had two more at the very top. He added that it's compact and rugged. And at good deal at about $62.00. $61.99 as of 12/1/17) Be sure to watch this week's show to see Chad's full video.

Chad's Crappy Corner & His Final Gadget For His November Theme!

For his final November Cheap Kitchen Gadget (We recorded this show at the end of November) Chad picked the Mayo Knife Spreader Plastic Knife Shaped To The Contour Of Mayonnaise Jars.

Yep, it's a device to let you get the very last bit of mayo (or other stuff) out of the bottom of a jar. Here's what Amazon says about it: Get more mayo for your money with the waste eliminating mayo knife. Mayo knife is a durable plastic knife expertly designed to scrape every last drop of mayonnaise from the jar. Mayo knife even doubles as a spatula to spread mayo evenly across the bread. There's enough mayo left in the jar for your turkey club, but getting it out will be a challenge, and there's a good chance you may end up wearing most of it, or having to dip your knife in again and again to get little dollops. This is where the mayo knife comes in. Specially designed to fit the contours of a mayonnaise jar and retrieve all that creamy spread, while keeping you clean.

And Chad's take? Chad didn't have an almost empty jar of mayo, but he did have an almost empty jar of peanut butter. What it worked on that too! Watch the video to see how the shape of this knife not only lets you get every bit of stuff out of the bottom of a jar, but even the stuff stuck near the top of the jar. Chad paid about $6 for one, but our chatroom found two of them for about $7! At either price Chad thought this is a worthwhile addition to your kitchen drawer gadgets.

+++++++++++++++++++++++

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show, so here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:

I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.

-

I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.

-

My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.

-

My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.

-

Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll a tiny amount of fame (hopefully), an autographed MAD magazine and a 35-year-old Alfred E. Neuman picture. IMPORTANT: We'll just shower you with praise for your video if you live outside the US or Canada since we can't afford to send stuff outside of those two places. (After December 15, 2017, they'll be something else MAD sent with your Alfred E. Neuman photo. And unfortunately, after that date, we can only send to US addresses. MAD is moving to California, so our supplies will be greatly limited.) NEW: I can email 'autographed to you' Alfred E. Neuman photos to ANY email address if we use your video! See the letter below for someone who received the very first emailed and signed Alfred E. picture.

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv

Letter of the week:

Thank you also for using my video. (The Catit Fountain that stopped her cat and dog from drinking out of her aquarium.) It’s hard for me to watch episodes live because of the time difference, but I subscribe so I never miss an episode. I’ve been watching ever since the beginning on TWIT.

I printed out the AEN photo and it looks great!! I printed it out on glossy photo paper just because I had some laying around, and then somehow my printer decided to print another copy on a high quality plain paper and that looked great too. I think this is a great idea for your over the seas audience, they might be more motivated to send in videos. Hope this helps.…

Keep it up and thank you for all your good work now and over the years.

Best regards, Dorothy
