Giz Wiz Show 1730 June 6, 2019 Independent Show #212

Wow! The Giz Wiz Show started year 13 overall & our 5th year of Independent Production! (First Giz Wiz show was February 20th, 2006.) Thanks to our wonderful Patreon supporters we continue on! If it wasn't for them, the Giz Wiz Show would be gone. If you'd like to support OMGchad & DickDe in our independent venture (we pay for everything ourselves, including travel) just click the Patreon link at the top of our show web page: http://www.gizwiz.tv/.  You can also contribute just once via the PayPal link that's there too. Thank you for doing that! Our show wouldn't exist without our viewer's support, but a bit more support would be a big help. Thanks from OMGchad & DickDe!

Now onto this week's show! First up: Bose Introduces something brand new in noise reduction headphones.

When I was invited to a Bose press event this week seeing a new Noise Reduction Headphone wouldn't be out of the ordinary. But their new Bose 700 Noise Reduction Wireless Headphones add an exclusive innovation no one has done before. The Bose 700 uses 8 digital signal processing microphones, and up to four of them work to isolate a user’s voice from unwanted background sounds. This makes for dramatically clearer calls to home and work, and solid accuracy from your favorite VPA; Siri, Alexia and Google Assistant. Siri for iOS is easily accessible, the Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa are both built-in — and Alexa is just a wake word away. To demonstrate this new technology we got to hear a conversion both with and without the 700 technology when we called a Bose representative at an actual Starbucks. He was across the street from the hotel where the event was and we could see him when he waved from within the Starbucks. The Bose 700 has 11 degrees of adjustable noise cancellation. You can also have silence or with flip of a switch, let you hear yourself and others in the room over a much quieter background. So you don't have to hunt for a volume control, slide your finger up or down to adjust volume on the right ear cup. Tap to take calls or hang up. Their top of the line Bose Quiet Comfort 35 II will still in the line at $350, and the new Bose Wireless Noise Canceling 700 headphones will be $399.99 available June 30th.

Mops for your feet. It's real thing. But do they work?

When I was a kid, and even into adult life I would sometimes drop a dust rag on the floor and use my foot to clean up a small area. But what if you could wear mops on your feet? How easy would cleaning the floor be! Well, you can! And I did! I made a video showing how the mop shoes worked. But first, here's the Amazon description of the ones I bought:

G2PLUS Unisex Multifunctional Washable Chenille Fiber House Floor Cleaning Dust Mop Slippers Foot Socks Mop Shoes. Product Name:Bright Colorful House Floor Mop Slippers Shoes. Item Material:Microfiber Chenille; Size:approx 33CM(The stretch length) = approx 12.99 inches X 15CM (width) = approx 5.9”. It is a great helper for you wearing these around the house and do housecleaning while you walk. They are comfortable, practical & durable, convenient and effective to use. Perfect for dust, dirt, and pet hair, this mop shoe cover is a great time saver .

But do they work? Check out my video on this week's Giz Wiz Show.

Eating Chinese Food In The Dark? Then you might like - LED Chopstix!

We did our 'letter of the week' in the middle of the show this week because it inspired me to buy the gadget I saw in the video. Here's the email:

Hi Dick & Chad:

As I watched the GizWiz live today, I received a YouTube notification showing chopstick gadgets - of which, the last one may be of interest to you.

(Giz Wiz adds: This video is from our friends over at buzzfeed.com. If you just want to see exactly what Rowel was talking about it, here's the link. You can start the video about 4:45 to see them. Buzzfeed might add a quickie ad at the beginning.

Chad's Crappy Corner & his new June gadget theme as voted on by our loyal Patreon members.

Chad's June Gadget Theme is “Cheap Funny, Humorous Gadgets” and the first one is The Switchblade Spork! Now only is this a 'cheap and dunb gadget', the listing for it on Archie Mcphee is pretty funny too. Here it is:

THE WEAPON OF CHOICE FOR JUVENILE DELINQUENT CHEFS

Survival in the epicurean jungle was a matter of brawn and culinary skill, in which mastery of the Switchblade Spork was king. Gangs of sous-chefs and line cooks ruled the streets and no food was safe from the steely glint of their sporks. This metal and plastic utensil snaps open with the push of a button to 11" long and also feature a safety lock to prevent unexpected deployment. Only tough way to eat chicken nuggets. Be armed in a food fight. On the Archie McPhee website it's $7.00, but there's S&H. Chad found it a Hobbyland store for $7.99. It's on Amazon, but there it's a lot more:

And Chad's take: Chad thought it was a funny idea, but there's not too much to do with once the joke wears off. But as you'll see in this week's video, you can actually use it to eat. But Chad was disappointed to learn the spork doesn't lock into the open position, nor does it separate from the plastic handle. So for a laugh it's worth $7 or $8, but the not almost twice that on Amazon.

Dick's Gadget Warehouse & How to Submit Your Viewer Video On Any Gadget!

Another Gadget Video from our loyal and frequent contributor, Mo Torres. It starts as a 'guess the gadget', so see if you guess what Mo bought.

Hey Guys

I just got this.

Maybe you guys can use it as a "Guess What The Heck is It"

********************************

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show, so here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:

-

I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.

-

I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.

-

My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.

My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.

-

Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you'll also get an autographed 35-year-old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live, I can email an autographed to you Alfred E. Neuman photo if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it's a copy. We've tested it out and fans say they look terrific!

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv
