The Giz Wiz Show 1646 for October 27th 2017, Our 129th Independent Production.

We're well into our third year of Independent Production thanks to our wonderful Patreon supporters! If you'd like to support OMGchad & DickDe in our independent venture (we pay for everything ourselves, including travel) just click the Patreon link at the top of our show web page: http://www.gizwiz.tv/. You can also contribute just once via the PayPal link that's there too. And thank you for doing that! Our show wouldn't exist without our viewer's support, but a bit more support would be a big help.

This week we have three new gadgets from the Luxury Technology Show. This is a unique show where one can expect to find out-of-the-ordinary gadgets not found at any regular consumer trade shows. Many are high ticket items, but their uniqueness could be worth the price for high earners. This fun event took place on October 4th, 2017, at the Metropolitan Pavilion, NYC.

Meet The Solo, an all electric car designed for just the solo driver.

Electra Meccanica’s SOLO is an all-electric, single-passenger, commuter vehicle. It's not

intended to replace the family car, but to supplement it for short distances and for chores like shopping. The company says approximately 80% of travel is done with a single passenger. So the SOLO is designed as a commuter vehicle to get you to and from work and around town as needed at minimal expense. With a range of approximately 100 miles between charges, SOLO is should easily fit the average commuters’ needs. One YouTube video says the car can go from 0 to 60 mph in 8 seconds. There's 220 & 110 Volt Charging / 3 hours at 220V and 6 hours using 110V. Features include 5 Year Battery Warranty, LCD Digital Instrument Cluster, AM/FM Stereo with Bluetooth/CD/USB, Rear View Backup Camera, Heated Seat and 2 Year Unlimited Mileage Warranty. It's priced at approximately $15,500 USD. It's built in Canada and available there this year, and should be available in the U.S. in 2018.

Not quite heaven, but these saunas are Almost Heaven.

Boy, if you have a house, outside space and some money available, this is pretty neat. Almost Heaven featured a custom-designed barrel sauna for 6 persons at the Rand Luxury event. As you'll see in the video, this beauty is manufactured from red cedar, has an exterior porch, Finnish digital heater, and more. Here's a bit more info on the company from their press materials: Almost Heaven Saunas have been manufactured in the Greenbrier Valley of West Virginia for 40 years. Known world-wide for exceptional quality and design, the company produces both indoor and outdoor traditional, water-over-hot-rocks dry/wet saunas. Almost Heaven Saunas is the world leader in traditional home saunas, supplying custom options to a growing market of individuals who are eager to experience sauna benefits that are typified by personal health, wellness, and relaxation.

They don't have to be as big as the one I show in the video. Here's their smallest, closet sized sauna: https://almostheaven.com/2017/08/think-small-sauna-urban-space/

A World's First You Probably Didn't Even Know Existed.

Well, actually, it will be here in 2018, so this is an early look. ShadeCraft is a robotics and technology startup based in Los Angeles, California. At the show, one of the founders of the company explained that their mission is to improve people’s lives outdoors. And their flagship product, SUNFLOWER, is the billed as the world’s first robotic shading system that tracks thesun. But that's not all! It has a full set of high tech features that include GPS, Bluetooth and WIFI connectivity, a high definition camera, voice activation and controls, speakers to stream audio, controlled lighting and the ability to charge external devices! And – it's all powered through solar energy. Now this was a preview look and the more formal introduction will take place at CES 2018. There they'll announce the price and limited available of the first units coming off the production line. You can sign on for updates at the company website.

Chad's Crappy Corner And His Final Gadget For His October Theme!

Chad polled our loyal Patreon (the great folks who keep our show alive) as to what he should chose for his October them. Their verdict: Cheap Halloween gadgets! And Chad's final gadget for this month's theme?

The BB-8 Pumpkin Kit.

Love everything "Star Wars". Well now you can turn any pumpkin into your favorite Star Wars character, (assuming that character is BB-8), with this quick and easy decorating kit. There's no gluing or screwing, just push the provided pin-backed pieces into your pumpkin - after you've painted it. The company says the process is simple and clean. It is a fun way to create a unique Jack-o-Lantern.

And Chad's take?

Watch this week's show to see Chad unwrap the kit parts and make his own BB-8. He paints his pumpkin, giving it 3 coats of white. (Hmm, that seems like a lot of work to me, but Chad seemed to enjoy it.) Then cut the top of the pumpkin and replace with the BB-8 head. Then simply and pin the two right and left side pieces into the pumpkin. Chad thought this was an okay project, but nothing outstanding. (That's Chad's finished project in the photo!)

It's $10 here on the Target website: https://www.target.com/p/star-wars-bb-8-pumpkin-decorating-kit/-/A-52315190#lnk=sametab

It's also on Amazon, but at about $20 or higher.

On the Target website I also bought the Halloween Spooky Victorian Phone - Hyde and Eek! Boutique that I demostrated on this week's show. It was $12.75 at this link: https://www.target.com/p/halloween-spooky-victorian-phone-hyde-and-eek-boutique-153/-/A-52281421#lnk=sametab (I bought several items so shipping was free.)

Dick's Gadget Warehouse & How to Submit Your Viewer Video.

Our video arrived with this email:

Hi Dick & Chad:

Dick, it was great meeting you at NY Comic Con. As promised here is my latest warehouse video.

I know you want new videos and this will be my 4th one. I thought you might cut me some slack since I was the first viewer video back in 2013 :)

Here is a link to the video https://youtu.be/QkDTZ2Kdr1I?t=25s

I don't own this computer. The computer is owned by Infoage Science/History Learning Center http://www.infoage.org/

As mentioned in the video, here is a link to the full presentation that you can share with your viewers.

                                 ****************************************************

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show, so here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:

I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.

-

I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.

-

My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.

-

My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.

-

Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll a tiny amount of fame (hopefully), an autographed MAD magazine and a 35-year-old Alfred E. Neuman picture. So that's one more (so-so) reason to send in your video!

IMPORTANT: We'll just shower you with praise for your video if you live outside the US or Canada since we can't afford to send stuff outside of those two places. (Thanks for understanding.)

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv
