The model that TWiT has been sending out to their guests most recently is the Plantronics .Audio 655 (Episode 987), which has also just had a refresh by Plantronics at CES.

Costs and Averages - The Real Total
A "slightly obsessed listener" was listening to some old episodes, and heard another listener's challenge, in Episode 563, for Ludwik to calculate the total costs (up to that point) of all the gadgets covered in the Daily Giz Wiz.  In Episode 572, Ludwik rose to the challenge.  Slightly Obsessed, with all due respect to Ludwik's programming skills, believes that Ludwik's program understated the facts and was woefully inadequate.  He has listed out all the gadgets in a spreadsheet, and with the patience of a saint, the persistence of a boarhound, the single-minded dedication of someone with absolutely no social life, he has calculated the total to be $121,134.  Slightly Obsessed intends to continue to calculate the costs and averages for the Daily Giz Wiz.

From the description, Leo thinks at first that it's Dane, but the address of Slightly Obsessed being Hollywood, Leo thinks he may well be George Clooney.

Nexus One
Leo loves the Google Nexus One.  The only thing missing for him is support for Audible.  Also, no multi-touch support yet, although that may come later.  Watch Leo review the Nexus One.  Video courtesy of odtv.me.

Verena Fuchs was much amused by the Penguin Tea Timer (Episode 942), and has a few suggestions of her own, including the Penguin Air Purifier and the Penguin Humidifier.

A Comedy Show? That's a Revelation
Leo comes uncharacteristically well-prepared today, and even has a letter to spare.  Listener Al Spalding (who last wrote in Episode 782) was for a long time slightly irritated because Dick and Leo didn't spend enough time talking about the gadgets, until the penny dropped when he heard that the Daily Giz Wiz won the Best Comedy Podcast Award.  It's supposed to be ha-ha funny!

Episode 1006

CES 2010
The TWiT crew had a blast at CES 2010, or at least Leo did.  The TWiT staff worked their butts out.  This year's CES was full of Slates and 3D TVs.

What A Treat
Twila Dick from Ridgeway, Ontario, Canada thinks it was really quite a treat to watch Dick and Leo do the Daily Giz Wiz live at CES, and to see Leo and Dr Kiki meander through the halls, showing gadgets like the Lenovo U1 and the new Google Nexus One.  She hopes that one of these days all this new technology will meander its way through to Canada.

Episode 1005

Podcasting Class
As if Leo wasn't already living and breathing podcasts, he's also teaching schoolchildren how to do podcasting in an Intercessions class at Henry's school.

Leo's Tip Jar
Leo's Tip Jar has generated very positive response.  The donations have jumped from about $900 a month to $20,000.  As Leo promised, he won't take more than $10,000 a month, and the rest will go to TWiT's general funds for further development.

DGW Says
Another welcome addition to the DGW Fraternity.  Alessandro Julian, who calls himself Alex, has set up a Tumblr blog for quotes from the Daily Giz Wiz, called DGW Says: dgwsays.tumblr.com.  It's fun!

Episode 1004

Digisette Revisited
Matthew Donnelly, a business and technology teacher who has listened to the show for about 2 years, has managed to incorporate the Daily Giz Wiz into his class by getting his students to market gadgets from the show.  The recent discussion of the Zune HD (Episode 921) has got Matthew thinking about the history of the MP3 Player, and his own first MP3 Player in 2003, the Digisette Duo.  Matthew goes on to describe the old gadget, and Dick has covered it on a previous Warehouse Friday, in Episode 125.
