The Giz Wiz Show 1692, September 14th 2018 Independent Show #175 Recorded 9/11

The Giz Wiz Show is in it's 13th year of production, and the fourth year of Independent Production! (The first show was February 20th, 2006.) Thanks to our wonderful Patreon supporters we continue on! If it wasn't for them, the Giz Wiz Show would be gone. If you'd like to support OMGchad & DickDe in our independent venture (we pay for everything ourselves, including travel) just click the Patreon link at the top of our show web page: http://www.gizwiz.tv/. You can also contribute just once via the PayPal link that's there too. And thank you for doing that! Our show wouldn't exist without our viewer's support, but a bit more support would be a big help. Thanks from OMGchad & DickDe!)

Better than being the spot light? Maybe being in a Pin Spot Light!

I love my Pin Spot, spotlight! I use it to highlight my “Welcome to Gizneyland Studio” carpet, but you can use it for kid's theater, art, pictures on the wall, diplomas, even a mirrored ball! Don't you have one of those? I do. The pin spot light is small and lightweight. It can be placed directly on table, floor or desk, or it can be fixed on wall, or ceiling. Amazon also says on the roof, but I don't see this as being weather resistant. It also has a short cord, maybe about 4'. The box shows many colors, but Amazon only sells white. But the company says you can put different color filters in front of the lens to change the color of the light. But filters are not included. It has a standard AC two-prong plug and uses only 3W. Here are a few more specs from the company: Light Color: Pure White (9000~9500K). Luminous Flux: 220~240LM. Beam Angle: 6°. Lens Degree: 1500° Material: ABS. This item is mini LED pin spot light, not a large commercial Laser projector. There were were 61 reviews on Amazon and it got 3.8 stars out of 5. I paid $12.99 and was still that price on 9/11/18.

Chad's Extra Gadget Feature!

Chad's Extra Gadget for this show is the (Long Amazon named) ECOVACS DEEBOT 900/901 Smart Robotic Vacuum for Carpet, Bare Floors, Pet Hair, with Mapping Technology, Higher Suction Power, Wifi Connected and Compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant.

Here's just a bit about this vacuum from Amazon: Advanced Navigation, Virtual Mapping & Systematic Cleaning. Exclusive Smart Navi 3.0 is an advanced navigation system created by Ecovacs. Using it, the DEEBOT maps your home and creates the most optimal cleaning path possible. Unlike most robotic vacuum cleaners which use a less than optimal random cleaning path, the DEEBOT 901 follows a systematic cleaning path for truly superior cleaning.

And Chad's take? Although Chad pointed out the Amazon reviews were great, he loves his Ecovac. You'll see how it mapped his house and how he says clearly what rooms it was cleaned! On the downside Chad thought the container that captures the dirt and dust is too small, and that battery isn't big enough to let the cleaner do his whole house. It does it in two different shifts. The has a Prime Day Special so Chad saved $100 and bought it for $299. Also Chad points out he's never seen the 'under review' notice that's on Amazon now. (As of 9/12/18.) But all-in-all, he's very happy with his purchase.

Soft bread, hard butter? Does this knife really help?

Meet Jagerspitz, billed as the Elegant Gift Butter Knife. Here's some info from Amazon: This is the gift to get for the person who has everything. Not only does it make easy work of cutting and spreading butter, but it does it creatively. Whether grating, spiral cutting or thinly slicing cubed butter, it all means easier spreading. The knife is fun yet elegant, and your friends and family will love it. The knife comes cradled in a decorative inlay cutout, which is then wrapped in designer paper and a black gift box. (I show the packaging in my video this week.) It's brushed stainless steel construction makes it solid to use and easy to care for (and dishwasher safe). It’s ergonomic design works well for all hand sizes. – And now back to me. I would agree this is well designed and even very nicely packaged. But there is nothing in the box about ways to use it. Maybe that's why it's great to give as a gift. You would have to waste a lot of butter trying to figure out the various ways it works! It got 3.7 starts out of 5 stars from 65 reviewers - I paid $11.50 and it was that price as of 9/11/18

Chad's Crappy Corner & His Second Gadget For His New September Theme!

Chad polled our loyal Patreon members and asked them to vote on his new cheap theme for September. And the winner was “Cheap Gadgets To Get Your Stuff Organized”. Chad's second organizing gadget is the Motorized Revolving Tie Rack.

Here's some info from Bed Bath And Beyond where Chad bought it. Keep your ties and belts neatly organized with this easy-to-use tie revolving rack. Effortlessly cycle through up to 64 ties or belts with the press of a button. The Revolving Tie Rack holds and organizes up to 64 ties or belts. At the touch of a button it illuminates as it revolves in both forward and reverse motion. Space-saving design takes up only 5.5 inches of closet space. Clamps tightly to closet rods measuring up to 1 3/8" with no tools needed. Requires 4 C batteries (not included). $19.99

And Chad's take? Chad sort of liked this. Watch this week's video to see how once you add a fair number of ties it's impossible to see the belts at the center of the machine. Also Chad worries about battery life. He said it seemed like the motor was already slowly down even though he only used it for a few days. But it was only $19.99 and if you visit Bed Bath And Beyond website they usually have a 20% off one item coupon available. So for $16, it's not bad.

Dick's Gadget Warehouse & How to Submit Your Viewer Video.

Our viewer video comes from Jason Peddicord who writes:

Bosco is a black lab puppy who needed a good home. And the people who couldn't keep him for reasons asked if I would take him. They know our history with rescue animals and how well they are cared for. In the video you will see him and his favorite toy. Its a tennis ball cannon that he goes nuts wanting when it's picked up. I did a search for on Amazon and found for over twice what I paid for it at a local store.

Thanks for all the great shows and laughs. Jason Peddicord

From the Giz Wiz: I found that K9 Mini Launcher here on Amazon for $11.99 as of 9/13/18, but I haven't shopped at this eseller.

+++++++++++++++++++++++

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show, so here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:

I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.

-

I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.

-

My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.

-

My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.

-

Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you'll also get an autographed 35-year-old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live, I canemail an autographed to you Alfred E. Neuman photo if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it's a copy. We've tested it out and fans say they look terrific!

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv
