The Giz Wiz Show 1704, December 7th 2018 Independent Show #187

The Giz Wiz Show is far into it's 13th year of production, and the fourth year of Independent Production! (The very first show was February 20th, 2006.) Thanks to our wonderful Patreon supporters we continue on! If it wasn't for them, the Giz Wiz Show would be gone. If you'd like to support OMGchad & DickDe in our independent venture (we pay for everything ourselves, including travel) just click the Patreon link at the top of our show web page: http://www.gizwiz.tv.  You can also contribute just once via the PayPal link that's there too. And thank you for doing that! Our show wouldn't exist without our viewer's support, but a bit more support would be a big help. Thanks from OMGchad & DickDe!)

This week we check out three inexpensive tech gadgets from the Kids & Family Tech Expo starting with tee-shirt like none you've experienced before!

The Virtuali-Tee offers a guided tour inside your body! It's easy. Put the Virtuali-Tee shirt on, open the app and point your device’s camera at the Virtuali-Tee. The app scans the Virtuali-Tee and you'll see an image of the internal body system. Then you can - and kids will love this part – you can virtually dissect the organs in gross detail!Tap anywhere on the screen to peel back the layers of the body and interact with the different systems and organs by clicking on the hotspots. The app can also work in selfie mode, so anyone wearing the t-shirt can use the front camera to explore the internal systems on themselves. But wait, there's more! If you have a VR headset you can also activate VR mode by tapping on the VR goggles icon. The app is compatible in most cardboard headsets as long as they allow camera access. Hans Glover is the anatomy expert that will guide and talk you through all the different systems and organs. The newest feature is the Heart Rate tracker that allows users to test their own heart rate directly through their device camera and then actually visualize their own heart rate beating live in AR through the app. The inventor says this can be a fantastic addition to science lessons, bringing an immersive new dimension to learning about the Heart and Circulatory System

What could more excited than bringing your very own designs to life through the amazing power of Electro thread. That's what this kit is all about: Electrifying crafting for creative inventors. It's a blast! (Using plain old air.)

Yes, it's the Air Blast Cannon!

Here's another clever way for kids to learn about pneumatics! Ready, aim, blast! Using the fun and clear instruction book, they can construct a moveable, air-powered cannon and fire away at the included targets. Makers will explore the physics of projectiles, the mechanics of pneumatics, and how they work in everyday machines—like bicycle pumps! It's a very colorful kit and is online for a little less than the MSRP $24.99.

Chad's Crappy Corner & His New Theme For December, 2018

Chad polled our loyal Patreon members and asked them to vote on his 'cheap gadget theme' for December. The winner was Cheap Holiday Gadgets.

Chad's first Cheap Holiday Gadget is the Simple Living Innovations Ornament Storage Tub. Chad said for years he's kept all his ornaments in cardboard cartons. (I think pretty much every body does that. I know my family did.) But then while roaming through Bed Bath And Beyond, Chad came across the Ornament Storage Tub and thought it was a great idea and that it would probably better protect his ornaments between holidays. Watch this week's show to see the storage tub in action. Chad liked it, although he wished there were separators for each layer of Ornaments. It is inexpensive at $14.99. Also you can check out Amazon. Turns out there are dozens of variations on ways to storage ornaments.

Dick's Gadget Warehouse & How to Submit Your Viewer Video.

Our email came from a fan of the show, Steve Davison. Although the video isn't one he shot, he found this ten year Giz Wiz video we had long forgotten about. And Steve did a lot of research to find info online about the gadgets in the video. Thanks, Steve. Here's his email:

Hi Dick: I found this link while searching for the live-stream from Gizneyland from last month.12 Days of GizWiz by Paul Minshall from December 1, 2008. One decade ago! I found it a lot of fun, since most of these items no longer exist.

+++++++++++++++++++++++

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show, so here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:

I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.

-

I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.

-

My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.

-

My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.

-

Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you'll also get an autographed 35-year-old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live, I canemail an autographed to you Alfred E. Neuman photo if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it's a copy. We've tested it out and fans say they look terrific!
