The Giz Wiz Show 1705, December 14th 2018 Independent Show #188

The Giz Wiz Show is far into it's 13th year of production, and the fourth year of Independent Production! (The very first show was February 20th, 2006.) Thanks to our wonderful Patreon supporters we continue on! If it wasn't for them, the Giz Wiz Show would be gone. If you'd like to support OMGchad & DickDe in our independent venture (we pay for everything ourselves, including travel) just click the Patreon link at the top of our show web page: http://www.gizwiz.tv. You can also contribute just once via the PayPal link that's there too. And thank you for doing that! Our show wouldn't exist without our viewer's support, but a bit more support would be a big help. Thanks from OMGchad & DickDe!)

Three gadgets you probably don't know about.

Want to watch movies from your tablet your phone with much better sound?

That's what I was looking for. A device with wireless Qi charging and built in Bluetooth speakers. The Dockall D 100 met those requirements. It can charge phones vertically or horizontally with 3 Qi charging coils built in. Non Qi phones/small tablets can be charged through two rear USB ports. Sound is via Bluetooth through two 5 Watt decent sounding speakers. There's also a built-in microphone for hands-free calling or using Skype, etc. The viewing angle is not adjustable, but I had no problems viewing video on my LG G6 phone. There seems to be a newer version the D108 in white, but it's $20 more and only had one two star review last time I looked. For about $60 I thought the D 100 was worth it, but not worth the $99.99 price on some other websites and even elsewhere on Amazon. You can see it in action on this week's show.

Meet The North American Health+Wellness Emergency Recording Watch

When I saw this gadget online I thought it might be useful for some people, especially those who aren't into techology. This is a barebones device that looks like a wristwatch, but contains a tiny recorder. You can record up to 30 seconds of information and then press the lock button so it isn't accidentally erased. You can record over the original message anytime you want by pressing the lock button again to unlock the old message. The watch only holds the last message recorded. If the person wearing the watch is injured, lost, confused, etc., hopefully someone will hit the button on the watch which will sound a 5 second alarm and then play the message. Of course, the person themselves can hit the emergency button for help if they're able to. The alarm and message will repeat for up to 90 minutes or until the battery dies. You recharge the watch via micro USB. A buy point for me was the price. The watch was only $5.95 + shipping. I most always buy two of a  gadget in case one of them doesn't work. And in that case, that was good, because the first one watch I tried was dead on arrival. But the second worked fine as you'll see in the video. There's more data about this device at the Newegg website where it's available.

Most other prices seemed to be charging $12.99, but it was $5.95 here on 12/14/18.

The Tech Neck Hands-Free Collar Device.

Who could come up with such a weird gadget? You want me wear that crazy thing around my neck? Well, relax, it's not a real product. It's true, the Tech Neck Device Holder does not exist. It's a Prank Pack designed to fool the receiver into having to thank you for a really stupid gift. But, the box is empty so you can put your real small-sized gift inside. There's also a “You've been pranked note” inside the box. This empty box costs $8, expensive since it's a job, but the company did a great job of making it looks like a real product with models using the device in all sorts of situations. Even the copy on the box looks real, so I guess it did cost them a bit of $$ to design and produce the new Prank Pack.

Chad's Crappy Corner & Another Gadget For His December Theme!

Chad polled our loyal Patreon members and asked them to vote on his 'cheap gadget theme' for December. The winner was Cheap Holiday Gadgets.

Chad's second Cheap Holiday Gadget is the Mr. Christmas Goodnight Lights Santa Ornament Controller. Here's what Amazon says about it: A fun and unique way to control your Christmas tree lights! Simply plug your series of tree lights into the control box, hang the Santa ornament in your tree and blow into the sensor located on the front of the Santa's candle to turn your lights on and off. UL/ETL listed.

And Chad's take? Well, Chad said he likes this! It's a surprising non-crappy Crappy Corner gadget. Now it might take a little bit of air to do it right, but watch the video to see Chad use it on his own Christmas tree.

+++++++++++++++++++++++

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show, so here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:

I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.

-

I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.

-

My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.

-

My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.

-

Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you'll also get an autographed 35-year-old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live, I canemail an autographed to you Alfred E. Neuman photo if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it's a copy. We've tested it out and fans say they look terrific!

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv

From the Giz Wiz. If you're interested in this gadget watch this week's show. It seems it's available elsewhere way, way, cheaper.
