Dick's Gadget Warehouse & How To Submit Your Video And Win An Autographed MAD Magazine.

Yes! Another video from a first time submitter, James Dodd! Here's his email:

    Hi Dick and Chad

This is my first time sharing a video so hopefully it works. I bought this item on Amazon for $150. Honestly I'm not sure if they make it anymore because I can't find it on Amazon and the company website says it's out of stock. It's a little loud and takes a bit of practice to navigate using the dual motors. Most of the time I get out the regular net and just do it manually. If anyone wants to buy the Hydro-net, I do charge shipping and handling.

    Hope you like it!

PS. I'm a fan of the show. I watch almost every episode. I've bought so many things recommended by you (like the Rocket notebooks and EWA bluetooth speakers).  Next I'm getting an e-bike so now I can buy the bike accessories.

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.
    -
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
    -
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.
    -
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
    -
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you'll also get an autographed 38+ year old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live outside of US, I can autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res copy if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it's a copy. We've tested it out and fans say they look terrific! If you submitting warehouse videos for a second, third time, etc., you'll get the current issue of MAD as a thank you.

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv

    Are Wireless Outlets Finally Here??

With Jackonlux LED bulb you can certainly make it look like it is. As you'll see on this week's show, the bulb comes with a little plastic gadget that looks like a mini outlet. Plug your lamp into it and yes, it will light! That's because the JackonLux bulb is a combination of a regular led bulb and a power outage light.

Note: It may not work properly when connected to a powerstrip. But when it was on and plugged directly into an outlet it immediately stayed on when I tripped the circuit breaker. It has to be on to stay on. If it's off, it will stay off until you turn it on. That way if the power goes out while you're not home and it's off, the battery will not be wasting power. I like these a lot. I bought the two pack for $17.99 on Amazon, so that was $9 each. That price can change at any time.

Wireless Mics From Across The Sea

I saw an ad on Aliexpress that seemed to good to be true. Was it? I had to find out, so I bought a pair of wireless mics with charging case. Here's some of the Aliexpress description. (I don't even think the mics are from Lewinner. I think they just copied it from their website.) Here it is:

Just clip the Lewinner wireless microphone to your collar and plug the receiver (Lightening port) on your devices, they will automatically connect. (Except they're not Lightening port, I bought USB-C) Just plug and play directly, APP and Bluetooth are not required. Ideally, the acceptance distance between the microphone and the receiver is 20 meters. But in reality, the acceptable distance is 5-10 meters in an open environment. If there is a human body or metal object blocking, the receiving distance will be reduced. Offers professional full band audio. (I don't think you can call it full band audio as you'll hear when you watch this week's show.)  The storage box is also where to charge the transmitter. After the storage box is fully charged, everytime charging maximum support the transmitter to continue working about 18-20 hours. Clip and go, no cables required - perfect for outdoor recording. Mini clip allows you to easily clip it to your pocket. Compact and lightweight design.  The Lewinner mini lapel mic can work with iPhone and iPad, fit for IOS or Type-C. (Again, I think they lifted some of this copy from Lewinner - unless they also make that company's wireless mics. There is no branding I can find anywhere on the box. But they were inexpensive. With shipping I paid about $36.00 & they arrived from China in a touch under five weeks. How did they work, you'll see on this week's show.

What? The Giz Wiz (and MAD's Maddest Writer) Buys A Subscription To Guess What Magazine!

The Usual Gang of Idiots gets two free copies of MAD Magazine each time a new issue comes out. Yes, MAD is still publishing, but it is mostly reprints from a variety of old issues. I actually don't mind that because I see a lot of articles I missed the first time, or I see articles from MAD magazines that were published before I became a fan of MAD, and started writing for the magazine. These days MAD is only available at comic book stores, or via subscription from DC Comics. You do save $ over the $5.99 Cheap! single issue comic book store price with a subscription. But when I went to the DC Comics page I saw a way to 'get a free subscription' by buying some MAD merchandise. And that's what I did. I spent $29.99. Was it worth it? Judge for yourself as I unbox the two MAD items I bought. You'll see them on this week's show.

Chad's Crappy Corner and his Patreon picked March Cheap Gadget Theme, “Cheap Time Keeping Gadgets”.

Chad's final cheap time keeping gadget is the PAWISE Automatic Pet Feeder.

From Amazon: Dinner is served with the PAWISE Automatic Pet Feeder. It allows you to take care of your pal's meals while you're eating out on a Friday night or rushing to get to work. The tray can holds 1.5 cups of food and the individual timers can be set up to 48 hours in advance. It’s made with BPA-free plastic and its trays are dishwasher safe for ease of clean. It’s easy to operate—simply fill the feeder trays with dry food and set the time for when your pal needs to eat.

And Chad's take: Chad thought this was pretty good, although he said the timer is kind of hard to set since there's just one small dial that can be set for up to 48 hours. He wished there was a digital version of the clock, so you would know exactly what it's set for. He liked that it can be used for wet or dry food and he thought it was secure enough so that pets wouldn't be able to get to the food until the timer opened the door. He paid about $20, and liked that there's a two-tray version that has two different timers, one for each tray. That one is about $33.00.
