The MAD NY office closes for good, Friday, December 22nd, 2017 at noon. So no more mail room, or stock room. Email me your full name & address - (US/Canada only - but the game has been that way since the start.) I'll autograph your MAD with your first name & my name unless you specify Dick's name only. If I don't have enough JAN/FEB MAD's you'll get a 35+ year Alfred E. Neuman photo instead. (The movers took all the new issues by mistake Thursday, but copies should be on their way back to me!) Please put MAD WINNER in the subject line, so I can pick it out quickly. If you'd rather have one of those 35+ year old Alfred E. Neuman pictures instead of the Jan/Feb issue, put SEND ALFRED PIC in the subject line. Soon, they will be no more of those either. The remaining Alfred E pics have been shipped to LA MAD. Dick De, The Giz Wiz & MAD's Maddest Writer. Email me at:gizwizbiz@aol.com

A NEW WTHII GAME WILL START EARLY 2018. (I'm not sure exactly what it will be, but people seem to enjoy playing it, so we'll come up with something fun.)

The Nov/Dec 17th 2017 'What The Heck Is It? Game Is Over!

IMPORTANT! MAD MAGAZINE is moving to Burbank, California at the end of the year, so read about this game carefully. This November/December 2017 WTHII game runs all of November and ends midnight Sunday December 17th EST!

Hopefully I'll be able to send out the normal number of Jan/Feb MAD magazines - for up to 36 winners. But you must check to see if you're a winner right after I post the names on December 18th! MAD NYC will close on December 22nd because of the holidays and I won't have MADs to send out after that date or a mail room to send them from, so I must hear if you're a winner before December 22, 2017. (I'll Tweet a reminder, so follow me on Twitter @thegizwiz.) And be sure to sign your entry with a name, initials, something - or it won't be counted. Every month about two dozen people don't sign their entries, so please sign yours!

    Send your guess to: gizwizbiz@aol.com

There's the photo above! Do you know what it is? To play, come up with the right answer, or make up a silly, or inventive answer that we find funny or clever that describes the gizmo shown. IMPORTANT UPDATE. We are giving away up to three dozen autographed copies of MAD Magazine OR it may be one of a 35+ year old Alfred E. Neuman picture. (Up to 12 for the correct answer, up to 24 for cute, silly answers.) The reason for the change? MAD is moving to LA and before anyone was in the office arrived Thursday AM 12/14 the movers had packed up and shipped everything in the stockroom, including all the Jan/Feb 2018 MAD's and sent them off to a warehouse! I'm trying to get copies returned to me to send out! So your prize in the US or Canada only is either Jan/Feb MAD or the Alfred E. Neuman photo, whichever is available 12/18.) Remember, the judges have very small attention spans, so make sure entries are no more than 25 words, and please make just one guess per entry. You can enter more than once, and you can enter even if you've won in the past. But you must sign your entry with a nickname, screen name, fake name, or even real name, but sign it! If it's not signed, it's not eligible. IMPORTANT: People seem to like playing WTHII, so I'll keep the game going from Gizneyland. But new game rules & prizes start January 1, 2018. I'll post those details later on. For now, see below "cute, clever" answers for details.

IMPORTANT! MAD MAGAZINE is moving to Burbank, California at the end of the year, so read everything below carefully for big changes to the "What The Heck Is It?" game starting 2018!! Even though MAD will have a whole new staff in California, I'll still be writing for them from my Gizneyland studio here in NYC. (Fortunately, Bill Morrison, the new editor, said they want to keep my streak of being in every issue of MAD for 51 years alive!) But I will no longer have access to copies of MAD to send out, and I will no longer have a mail room to send winners their copies. Since people say they like playing the WTHII game I'll continue it. For several months the prizes will be fun MAD stuff I had in my office when I packed it up. Things like a page of MAD stamps that were bound in MAD Specials like 30+ years ago, or a sheet of old MAD stationery. I'll be doing all the shipping myself so they'll be 6 winners for folks with the right answer and 12 winners for people with silly, cute, dumb answers starting with the Jan/Feb 2018 game. Unfortunately prizes will be for US only.  If you play the November/December 2017 WTHII game be aware it runs all of November and ends midnight December 17th EDT. Hopefully I'll be able to send out the normal number of Jan/Feb MAD magazines - up to 36 winners. But you must check to see if you're a winner right after I post them on December 18th! MAD NYC will close on December 22nd because of the holidays and I won't have MADs to send out after that date or a mail room to send them from, so I must hear from you if you're a winner by December 21st. (I'll Tweet a reminder, so follow me on Twitter @thegizwiz.) And be sure to sign your entry with a name, initials, something - or it won't be counted. Every month about two dozen people don't sign their entries, so please sign yours! Thanks, DickDe, The Giz Wiz and MAD's Maddest Writer.
