    Episode 1103

    The Guy’s Keyboard
Leo says that he’s shown a keyboard with alphabetically arranged keys to Peter Jennings of World News Now, called “The Man’s Keyboard”.  He may be thinking of “The Guy’s Keyboard”, which he did show to Peter Jennings, but the keys were not alphabetically arranged.  Check out Episode 210 for Leo’s story, and Dick’s coverage of the keyboard.

    SOS United States
On 15 June 1967, little Leo went with his parents and his little sister Eva to Manhattan to board the SS United States on his first transatlantic voyage, back in the days when these ocean liners required tug boats to drag them into the sea.  For the return voyage, they took the RMS Queen Mary.  The SS United States broke a number of records in her day but is now in Philadelphia in a bad state of disrepair.  Check out SS United States Conservancy for the preservation project.

    SS United StatesAudio Recliner
Jeremy Jones starts every day in Texas with the Daily Giz Wiz. He was looking for bluetooth speakers on Amazon when he came across this unusual piece of furniture which Dick and Leo might find useful: the SounDome Wireless Audio Recliner, with built-in bluetooth speakers.

An Old Gadget and an Old Letter
Two weeks ago in Episode 1091 Leo said he would do an old gadget.  He forgot last week but today he finally does the Iomega Zip 100 Portable USB Drive for Gadget Cottage Tuesday.  He follows it up with an old letter, from Paul Watson written on 11 July 2008.  Paul wrote to ask when the show would be released, as he needed his daily fix of Dick and Leo: on that day it would have been Episode 610.

    Leo’s Mail Bag
Leo is a bit slow going through his mail bags (both snail mail and electronic).  When Dane Golden first joined TWiT, Dane thought it was a good idea to deal with Leo’s stack of fan mail.  Henry Laporte was drafted to help.  Henry opened a letter written in 1973 (or any suitably ancient date) from a fan who wanted an autographed photograph of Leo for his dear wife.  Henry thought that Leo should have done better.

    Episode 1101

    Causes for Celebration
The Daily Giz Wiz passed another milestone.  Last Friday it celebrated its 11th centenary for Episode 1100.  Dick has also received his Podcast Award, thanks to Todd Cochrane, for its win last year in the Comedy category, and so has Leo for TWiT Live and Munchcast.

    Colleen’s Alarm Clock Xtreme
TWiT had a farewell party for Colleen last Friday.  Leo can’t remember much of it but he does remember that she and a friend wrote an alarm clock app for Android.  You shake the phone to get it into snooze mode, and the alarm will keep coming back until the phone detects that it’s moving at a preset minimum speed.  It’s called Alarm Clock Xtreme.  Leo promised to promote it but he kept forgetting.  That’s why Colleen left!

    Another Magic Wand
Jeff Corgan from Pennsauken, New Jersey remembers the Docupen (Episode 1) but wants to write about the VuPoint Magic Wand from VuPoint Solutions, a portable scanner with impressive scan quality that works on Windows, Mac and Linux (which Jeff uses).  Apparently available soon on Bed, Bath and Beyond as well.

    A TTTT Preview: Splinter 2.0
Leo is ready for tomorrow’s TTTT and is not afraid to show his hand.  It’s a two-by-four, finally!

    Episode 1100

    Warehouse Poetry
Today’s opening intro was written by listener Rick Maxon from Victorville, California.  More to come.

    Apple Gadgets v Apple Stock
Talk of an inflation calculator in Episode 1090 reminded Stephen from Circleville, Ohio, of a story he read the other day on Marketplace, about the value of investing in Apple gadgets versus investing in Apple stock.  If one had invested the money for a Powerbook G3 250 ($5,700 in about 1997) into Apple stock, the shares would now be worth $330,000.

Butter and Eggs Parade v Pumpkin Show
Stephen hates the show, only because there’s only one show a day.  He also thinks that his local Pumpkin Show would beat Petaluma’s Butter and Eggs any day.

    Episode 1099

    Absorbent Interns
In Episode 1086 Leo mentioned that he just let the interns sit on the floor and absorb.  Don Baldwin writes: Has Leo considered using paper towels?

    Spontaneous Laughter
Yvonne and Eric from Hawaii like the Moshi (Episodes 784 and 988).  Its response to nose-blowing and yawning gives them spontaneous laughter, just like the Daily Giz Wiz.
