Giz Wiz Show #1588 for September 16th 2016 - Our 72nd Independent Production!

Big thanks to our wonderful Patreon supporters The Giz Wiz Show not only continues, but is well into its 2nd year of independent production. If you'd like to support OMGchad & DickDe in our independent venture (we pay for everything ourselves, including travel) just click the Patreon link at the top of our show web page: http://www.gizwiz.tv/. You can also contribute just once via the PayPal link that's there too. And thank you! Our show wouldn't exist without our viewer's support.

Let's kick off this show with two pet gadgets. First up, a unique cat toy we show to Charle "The Giz Fiz" dog.

The company says this Hide and Seek Electronic Mouse Hunt cat toy is a high quality innovative pet teasing toy, which is made from durable plastic. It will inspire play and keep your cat enjoying hours of play. --- Well, I don't have a cat, but many people on Amazon said their young dogs found it fun too. I let our dog Charlie, have a go at it. Charlie didn't find it fun at all. As you'll see in the video, he was actually a bit spooked by it, but Charlie get spooked by a lot of things. The game seems well made and it operates as described. There are two speeds, and the device makes no noise. The top has a micro-fiber scratching mat which cats should enjoy. It runs on 3 AA batteries, which are not included.

A unique water bowl for pets, great for travel.

The Torus water bowl is pretty neat. Fill it, lock it, and you can pack it, take it in the car, to the park, etc. and the water won't leak out. Only when you turn the know to the “on” position does your pet's water flow into the bowl. The self-filling design keeps refilling it as the pet drinks. It keeps the water level low to prevent splashing. You can use bottled water as many people on Amazon said they did, or filter the water with the included charcoal filter. No power of any sort is needed. The low profile means the bowl is very stable, plus it has rubber feet. My dog Charlie likes it because there's no reflection in it. Sometimes I think Charlie thought there was another dog in his shinny stainless steel water bowl because he'd look in and jump back. The Torus is not inexpensive however. The 1-liter version is $49.95 and the 2-liter version is $54.95.

Watch Videos On Your Portable Flight & Never Worry About Running Out Of Power.

Perfect for travel, this device has one of those long Amazon names: Safrone 10400mAh Portable Power Bank Rechargeable External Battery Pack with Multi-Angle Stand Charger. In reality it's a unique folding multi-angle stand that can easily hold your cell phone (large or small) and pretty much any size tablet I know of so far. On long flights you won't have to worry about your portable device running out of power because this device packs a healthy 10400mAh power bank. There are two USB out jacks on the side, a USB 5V / 1A and a USB 5V/2.4A jack. It folds down to a compact 5.3” X 3.7” X 1.2 inches. With two big easy-to-turn locking-unlocking screws, the bracket can easily adjust and lock in pretty much any angle you like for watching movies or playing games on your device. A four bar LED indicator lets you know how much power is left. The company says their built-in intelligent circuitry provides multiple protection for your device. It comes with a standard USB to microUSB cable. So if you have an iPhone, use your own charging cable to connect. Weight is 1.2 pounds, so it's a solid feel. You can see more in my video. It comes in various colors; I bought black.

Chad's Crappy Corner & His Next New "Hobby Gadget".

Chad polled our devoted Patreon members and for his September theme they picked “Cheap Hobby Gadgets”. Chad's gadget this week is the Wipic WPS Vibrating Electric Paintbrush.

Chad polled our devoted Patreon members and for his September theme they picked “Cheap Hobby Gadgets”. Chad's gadget this week is the Wipic WPS Vibrating Electric Paintbrush.

The company info: Say Goodbye to Painters Tape. Wipic, the vibrating electric paintbrush. The revolutionary finishing paintbrush. The Wipic vibrating electric paintbrush will make your precision paint jobs take much less time. But, like with any new tool, it takes some getting used to. After a few test runs, and by applying the advice in our videos, you will quickly obtain excellent results. Chad spent $19.99.

And Chad's take: The company says you'll get better as you practice, but Chad did okay by trying it right out of the box. Although you can't see the brush vibrate when Chad holds it up in the video, when Chad holds it close to his mic, you can hear that the brush does vibrate. The object to let you can draw straight lines, even paint window frames without using painter's tape. As you see in the video, Chad does seem to paint a straighter line when the brush is turned on. It also does seem to put more paint into the stroke as it vibrates, making it easier to get a thicker coat. But Chad felt it isn't a “gee wiz, buy this thing” kind of gadget. It was more like it, you might try to see if it works for you.

Dick's Gadget Warehouse & How To Submit Your Video

Over the years you've probably seen plenty of gadgets from Dick's Gadget Warehouse. But have you ever seen gadgets while they're still at rest in the warehouse? Our guess is that new fans may not even realize Dick's Gadget Warehouse is real place. It's actually a storage facility in the Sofia Warehouse on Amsterdam Avenue & 83rd Street. I've had space there for about 30 years! Chad & I thought it would be fun to show new fans, and older ones too, this video from April 2000, about 6 and a half years ago.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dwP53XCL8fk&feature=youtu.be

I just checked the Sofia Warehouse website and they do have a couple of nice specials going on right now till the end of September. If the offer has expired by the time you see this, tell them you know Dick DeBartolo, The Giz Wiz, and I bet they'll give you some kind of special offer. They have several locations.

We’re looking for more Viewer Videos!

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show, so here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:

I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.-

I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.-

My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.-

My Favorite Gadget of All Time: Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.-

Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll a tiny amount of fame (hopefully), an autographed MAD magazine and a 35-year-old Alfred E. Neuman picture. So that's one more (so-so) reason to send in your video! IMPORTANT: We'll just shower you with praise for your video if you live outside the US or Canada since we can't afford to send stuff outside of those two places. (Thanks for understanding.)

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv
