Giz Wiz #1539 October 8st, 2015, our 23nd Independently Produced Giz Wiz Show

If you'd like to support Chad & DickDe in our independent venture, just click the Patreon link at the top of this link: http://www.gizwiz.tv/.  You can also contribute just once via PayPal there too. And thank you!

This week and next week I'll be talking about some fun gadgets I found at Pepcom's 2015 Holiday Show Case. The first is a must for beer lovers.

Fizzics introduces The Perfect Way To Pour Bottled And Canned Beer.

Fizzics says that to date, the home draught beer system has been restricted to Kegeraters and overly complicated homebrew kits. The downside is that they're expensive and require non-returnable, proprietary kegs. And you're forced to consume a single type of beer or home-brew which can quickly degrade (they say it can 'skunk'). But now Fizzics introduces the first universal beer system that lets the drinker experience a premium draught pour from any variety of beer that comes in a bottle, can or growler. The beer drinker controls the individual taste, choosing their favorite beer brand to fine-tune the exact level of foam. No over-pours, spillage or wasted beer again. Peter, at Fizzics says it's remarkably simple in design and ease of use: pull the lever on the top-mounted tap to TAP and push back to TOP. Evidently a lot of people love beer and were willing to back this Indiegogo project, with more than $200,00. Instead of getting 100% of the funding they were seeking, they got 333%. Fizzics is portable and runs on 4 AA batteries which they say should be enough to foam about 200 bottles or cans of beer. The unit weighs less than four pounds. Retail is $169.99. Add a nightlight or a USB charging port to an outlet - in a snap!

The folks at SnapPower set a goal we all can appreciate: create simple and convenient solutions to power home electronics with 'snap' easy installation. And they've done it with two gadgets so far. In 2014 they launched the SnapPower Guidelight which is a replacement for the standard plug-in night light and the hardwired guide lights found on the market. Their Guidelight installs in seconds and requires no wires or batteries. (Watch The Giz Wiz Video.) It's designed to look like and replace the standard electrical outlet cover plate in the home. The Guidelight is equipped with diffused LED lighting to provide helpful illumination by night, while keeping both outlets available for use at all times. For convenience, The SnapPower Guidelight includes a light sensor that automatically turns the LEDs on in the dark and off in the light. Now they've come up with the SnapPower USB Charger. No more worrying about finding that bulky AC plug-in charger that came with your cell phone or other portable electronic devices. Like their SnapPower Guidelights, the SnapPower Charger uses the same prong technology to draw power directly from your electrical outlets. They require no wires or batteries and they install in seconds. The USB Charger is perfect for any room in the house and it’s low profile design allows for easy access to a USB charger in dozens of locations. This started as a Kickstarter project and lots of people liked the idea so much they successfully raised $839,301 USD with 18,604 backers!

Chad's Crappy Corner and another "As Seen on TV" gadget.

Chad polled our Patreon supporters and for his October theme they selected a fun theme: “As Seen on TV” gadgets. Chad's second “as seen on TV” gadget for October is WugglePets.

Here's what Amazon says: WugglePets are adorable stuffed animals with backpack clips that you make yourself. Simply fill the Wuggle with fluffy soft filling and Magic Dust using the child-friendly stuffer machine. Starter Kit includes a puppy and unicorn, stuffer machine, stuffing, 12 personality charms, magic dust, birth certificates and a zipper-pulling tool. 6"H. Ages 4+. Imported. Refill Kits includes Wuggle Pet™, stuffing, personality charms, magic dust, birth certificate, backpack clip and zipper-pulling tool.

And Chad's take? Chad, and everyone watching us record this show, seemed to enjoy watching Chad creating his own Wuggle Pet. It's fun adding the stuffing and the magic dust. Kids, age 4 and up, will probably get a kick out of making their own Wuggle Pet which actually looked very look when completed. At about $13 for this kit, Chad and most others seemed to think it was a pretty good deal. You have enough to make two Wuggle Pets with the kit, and once you have the easy to use Wuggle Pet machine, you can buy additional pets for about $5 or so.

Dick's Gadget Warehouse & How to Submit Your Viewer Video.

Our viewer video of the week started with this email:

From: mike troiano Subject: My fav gadget of all time

This is a video I did in 2010 for a device that will turn around my Piaggio MP3 500 scooter easily in my garage. The item is called " turn-a-bike" and it gets to turn around my ultimate tech gadget, my scooter.

BTW if you search turn-a-bike I will be the first video you see with over 2,000 hits.

If you can use it great, if not I will eventually get around to making a new video. Give our love to all.

                                       **********************

We’re looking for more Viewer Videos! We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show, so here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:

I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.

I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.

My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.

My Favorite Gadget of All Time: Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.

Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll a tiny amount of fame (hopefully), an autographed MAD magazine and a 35-year-old Alfred E. Neuman picture. So that's one more (so-so) reason to send in your video! IMPORTANT: We'll just shower you with praise for your video if you live outside the US or Canada since we can't afford to send stuff outside of those two places. (Thanks for understanding.)

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv
