Gadgets and gizmos from Coffee Fest, March 11, 12, 13 at the Javit's Convention Center, NYC.

We start with the simplest way I saw to make coffee, The Drip Cup.

Coffee Blenders is designed for the everyday coffee drinker and coffee enthusiast. It's a way to way to make drip coffee pretty much anywhere, without needing a machine. Coffee Blenders says they source gourmet quality 100% Arabica coffee from Central and South America. Coffee Blenders started with one flavor. Their Drip Cup Nude Cup® is just organic coffee with no flavorings or additives. Get a handcrafted pour-over coffee experience anywhere you have hot water! Coffee Blenders has now added functional blends to their Drip Cup line up. There's the Relax Drip Cup, the Lean Drip Cup. (You can read about them at the company website. A pack of 10 Coffee Blenders is $10.99, so it's about $1.10 a cup if you buy them at retail. Online you'd have to add S&H.)

The portability of mojoe lets you make 'home brew taste' coffee pretty much anyplace. And you don't have to worry about a way to heat the water. The mojoe works with any water temperature. See your name in foam!

You haven't seen a ripple effect like this before. Because this Ripple is a different kind of art. Milk froth is your canvas and coffee extract is your medium. Now, this is not really a machine for the home, but designed more for business. The Ripple Maker combines hardware and software to deliver a new communications platform that produces high-resolution designs and messages –– that are “Rippled” onto lattes, cappuccinos, or any foam-topped drink. It sure got a lot of attention at the Coffee Fest Event. People lined up to see the patented printing technology in action. The machine creates Ripples from any image or text atop the foam layer of coffee beverages. In a place of business, the coffee vendor will makes a foam-topped coffee drink by their usual methods. Then they place the cup on the Ripples machine, select an image from the company's extensive content library or their customer’s created design. Ripple prints it in just seconds. At Coffee Fest they took a photo of my business card with a smart phone, sent it via WiFi to the Ripples machine and in about 30 seconds total, I had Alfred E. Neuman on my cappuccino! The company says Ripple Pods are filled with a patented coffee extract made from a high-quality mix of Arabica and Robusta coffee beans. I asked about price and the spokesperson said the machine is about a $1,000 and you'll sign up a monthly service plan which include pods which creates which he said is not unlike putting a ink cartridge in a printer. The cost will depend on the size of the business and how many ripples they make each month. It's so unique I think it will drive a lot of traffic to coffee houses that have of these Ripple machines.

Chad's Crappy Corner and another 'cheap gaming gadget', his theme for March.

Chad emailed our loyal (and much appreciated) Patreon supporters and asked them to pick a March, 2016 theme of the month they would like to see. They voted and picked ' cheap gaming gadgets'. And this week's cheap gaming gadget is the Airdrop Gaming HipShotDot

Here's what Amazon says about it: The HipShotDot (HSD-1619) is the gaming industry's first powered red dot sight attachment for your television. The HipShotDot replaces or enhances your in game sights with a physical USB powered red dot sight. This attachment is made of sturdy and durable materials and is designed for long-lasting use. Improve your KDR, perfect your trick scope, run and gun and shoot from the hip like never before. Level up with the HipShotDot! $14.22 and Amazon Prime as of 3/17/16. It's here on Amazon:

And Chad's take? Chad explained that this works for certain video games where you would be shooting from the hip. Although in the game you often have a scope to aim with, it may disappear or be against a background color that makes it almost impossible to see. The HipShotDot is a single red LED that uses suction cups to stick on your screen. You use it to see exactly were the scope is. Chad explained that for your money you're getting a long cable attached to one red LED at one end, and a USB plug on the other end. He thought the packaging was impressive, but the gadget not so much. He said he might buy one if it was $4, but not $14.00.

We’re looking for more Viewer Videos! We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show, so here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:

I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.

I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.

My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.

My Favorite Gadget of All Time: Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.

Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll a tiny amount of fame (hopefully), an autographed MAD magazine and a 35-year-old Alfred E. Neuman picture. So that's one more (so-so) reason to send in your video! IMPORTANT: We'll just shower you with praise for your video if you live outside the US or Canada since we can't afford to send stuff outside of those two places. (Thanks for understanding.)

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv

Letter of the week:

A couple of weeks ago we received a letter from From Dwain Main. He included a picture of an old hard drive he acquired a few years ago and asked if any of us knew anything about it. Chad & I didn't have a clue, so we asked our super smart viewers and got three replies:

Hi Dick,

re the letter of the week from Dwain Main: His hard drive is an old IBM 5144681 13 megabyte model. There even is a listing on Amazon for one. This page has a picture of one installed in a mainframe. It looks like it had a big motor next to it to spin the disk!

Take care,

Dave Mayes

Both Mike Gendron & David Marnde found info that hard drive too. They both provided the same link, which is this one:
