Giz Wiz Show 1709 January 11, 2019 Independent Show #191. Chad & I Pick Our Best of 2018

OMG! Next month The Giz Wiz Show starts it's 13th year of production, and the fifth year of Independent Production! (The very first Giz Wiz show was February 20th, 2006.) Thanks to our wonderful Patreon supporters we continue on! If it wasn't for them, the Giz Wiz Show would be gone. If you'd like to support OMGchad & DickDe in our independent venture (we pay for everything ourselves, including travel) just click the Patreon link at the top of our show web page: http://www.gizwiz.tv. You can also contribute just once via the PayPal link that's there too. And thank you for doing that! Our show wouldn't exist without our viewer's support, but a bit more support would be a big help. Thanks from OMGchad & DickDe!)

And now to our Best of 2018 review!  (In no particular order.)

Chad's love his Elgato Green Screen.

It's not like those unweildy 'pop-open' green screens that takes a lot of time and endless frustration to fold out. The Elgato Green Screen is compact and rolls in and out of a convenient carrying case in seconds!

I've never seen anything like the Cauldryn travel mug, which could be called ‘the Swiss army knife of travel mugs’.

Here's a travel mug that can keep your coffee hot at the temperature you set, for hours. It can even boil water, heat soup, or make a smoothie with the blender attachment!

$69.99 and up depending on the version and accessories you want, and desktop or travel version.

Different versions are here on Amazon:

We both love this unique gadget.

I bought one right after Chad talked about it. Unfortunately, it seems to have disappeared from the market place. It's the Perfect Drink 2.0 Smart Scale and Interactive Recipe App, Bluetooth 4.0. The kit includes a wireless smart scale, app, 750 ml stainless steel shaker, and phone/tablet stand. Scale capacity: 0.5 grams to 5 kg. The price amazing -- just $20! Probably too good to true, because it seems to be gone from the web.

The stainless steel version of Perfect Drink with LCD screen is still available for $99.98 https://amzn.to/2M4IJDA As an Amazon Associate Giz Wiz Biz earns from qualifying Amazon purchases.

2 for cooking, 1 for looking - all 'a best of' pick.

Turbo Pot has come up with a new design for cookware. Turbo Pot cookware line is said to heat up between 35 and 50 percent faster than regular cookware. It's the heat exchanger “fins” at the base of the cookware that does it. We tested it in a bare-bones way and it worked for us! Be aware this "fins" cooking advantage works for gas cooktops only and does not speed up cooking time for electric or induction cooktops. There are about 6 different Turbo Pot Cookware items in the line so far.

Chad finds and loves his Wyze webcam! It can mounted in many convenient ways, has software that lets you do a dozen things or more and ready for price??  It was just $25! $20 for the camera and $5 (or maybe $7) for shipping. An amazing value. Chad bought bunch of them. I also bought a later model that included the ability to pan and scan for just $10 more! $30, plus $7 shipping.

Here's a waffle iron that bakes them at an angle. Doesn't the batter leak out? The Giz Wiz puts the Kalorik Easy Pour Waffle Maker to the test. Actually, this is very easy to use. Simply use the included measuring cup to pour batter into the spout of the closed waffle maker that sits at a 45 degree angle. It looks like that would be a disaster, but a rugged gasket holds the batter firmly in place and the angle makes it possible to distribute the batter evenly. Indicator lights plus five browning levels for custom cooked waffles 7" in diameter about an 1" thick.

Fun for kids (yes & adults too)

Glove-a-Bubble was a huge summer hit! The glove itself is the packaging. It's made of a durable plastic and it makes a lot of bubbles as you wave the glove. Prices are all over the place. They shoud sell for between $1.99 and about $2.99.

Watermelon Smash

is a fun twist on the water roulette game. It challenges each player to press the watermelon against their head as many times as the number on the spinner. It's a suspenseful game because you never know when the watermelon will fully crack open. Be the last player left to avoid having the watermelon crack open and you win. Suggested Age is 6 Years and Up.

Candylicious Bubbles with Wand- they're bubbles you blow and eat!

Now you can blow bubbles and eat them too with these fun bubbles by Little Kids. Create burst-able tasty bubbles and pop them with your tongue. Flavors include Cherry, Grape, Bubble Gum, and Tutti-Frutti said to be made in the USA with FDA approved ingredients. Chad said he put these on this 'best of' list because his grandmother saw the spot, bought some Candylicious Bubbles and loved them too. The one flavor Chad did not like was Chocolate. He said he tasted chemical-like.

Swiffer Continuous Clean Air Cleaning System -

I saw this at a trade show and wondered how it really worked in an apartment. The company said you'll be able to clean less often as this device continuously circulating and filtering airborne dust and dirt. They also said I should try it for myself and sent me a product sample. After using it for a month, I did indeed see that it trapped a fair amount of dust. You can see the difference between a new filter and one that was in unit for a little less than a month in the video link below.  MSRP $89.99.

And the final three 'best of' 2019.

Meet Shoe Slotz. These plastic storage devices double your current shoe storage space. It lets you place one shoe over the other shoe on a slanted, attached shelf. It also makes it easier to find the pair you want. Chad discovered them, liked them and I bought some and like them too. Works with most men's, women's, and children's shoes, but not very high shoes or boots which are too tall. I bought mine on Amazon, but they're also available at Bed, Bath & Beyond. About $15 for 6 pairs, which is $2.50 per shoe Slotz.

There are also many knocks off too which I havem't tried. They list them as Shoe Slots, not Shoe Slotz with "z" which is what I bought.

We go to the dogs for the next item. Now you can carry your dog in comfort-on your back!

K9 Sport Sacks. The model I'm wearing in photo with Charlie (our rescue dog) is the K9 Sport Sack AIR PLUS. It has a detachable storage bag (14"x9") for personal items. This is a great way to take your dog hiking, camping, or use it for any outdoor activity. There are models for dogs up to 40 pounds. This is also an ideal solution for folks with two dogs; a big one and a little one. The little guy probably tires quickly trying to keep up with his big dog buddy. Now the litte one can travel in his K9 Sport Sack when he tires out. Depending on the size and the model, they range in price from about $70 to $95.00

And we end with a fun game everybody liked, Reindeer Ring Toss.

When I saw this game on Amazon I thought it looked like a great fun game for family fun! You get two inflatable Reindeer Antlers and eight inflatable rings. Take turns wearing the antlers and make up your own games. They're cheaply made and as you'll see by the reviews often don't inflate and sometimes have leaks in them. But most people said they still had fun. I did too as you'll see in the video. But you can still play ring toss even if not totally inflated. It actually seems to make it funnier. Be sure to buy a 2-pack since the quality of the product is so low, but very inexpensive. Search for them on Amazon. (They may be seasonal buys.)

Back to Dick's Gadget Warehouse and How You Can Submit Your Video.

Consumer Electronic Show preview.

Is this a gadget that might end up in Dick's gadget warehouse?

If you can't figure it out from the photo, it's a kitty litter cleaning device, that is quite large.

We'll get Chad's opinion:

https://www.lavviebot.com/en/home.html

Their video is there too.

No price given, but if it's $200 off if you provide your email, my guess it's a high $$$.

********************************

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show, so here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:

I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.

-

I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.

-

My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.

-

My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.

-

Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you'll also get an autographed 35-year-old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live, I canemail an autographed to you Alfred E. Neuman photo if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it's a copy. We've tested it out and fans say they look terrific!

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv
