Move Over Alexa & Google Home, There's A New Potato In Town.

Meet the $34 Smart Potato cleverly named POTATO. As impossible as it sounds you can make any potato smart by inserting a blade-like device developed by Nicolas Baldeck. (Nicolas had a booth in the French section of Eureka Park at CES 2020.) Once the Smart Potato device is connected it uses 'potato energy' to power the Bluetooth antenna attached to the inserted electronic card. Then, as you'll see in the video, you can use your potato just like Alexa or Google Home. Just say “Hey Potato” and ask your question.

From the company: Gold electrodes are used to pick-up the potato brainwaves, which are immediately sent to the onboard Artificial Intelligence processor. This is the result of intensive research, including weeks of cloud processing and terabytes of big data training. POTATO decodes potato language and translate it into a Bluetooth connexion.

POTATO can instantly turn any organic spud into your new best friend smart assistant.

No more difficult decision making. Just open the mobile app, connect your phone to POTATO and ask your potato for wise advice. You can also monitor your potato health and feelings in real time.

POTATO is available for pre-orders on Indiegogo https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/the-world-s-first-smart-potato-smartpotato#/

Our loyal Patreons have voted! And Chad's new February “Cheap Gadget Theme” is......

“Cheap Gadgets From The Bargain or Clearance Bin!

Chad's first gadget was something he found at a real bargin! It's the Build Your Own Snowman Kit. Although it's on Amazon and at Target for about $18 or $19, Chad found one in a bargain bin at Target for under $6! Here's what Target has on their website about it: Create your own snow day with this Instant Amazing Snow activity kit. Bring your very own snowman to life! Includes enough Instant Amazing Snow Powder to make over 2 gallons of snow. Just add water - no stirring, no waiting! Age 4 and up.

And Chad's take? As you see on this week's show, the kit does make pretty realistic looking snow. But Chad pointed out that it has a real plastic-like smell. Chad makes a mini snowman and had fun doing it. He thinks kids will love this, but he warns not to get the fake snow in your eyes and to monitor kids to make sure they don't eat any it! The flakes expand in water & you don't want that in your body!

It's on the Target website for $18.99: https://www.target.com/p/be-amazing-snowman-activity-kit/-/A-76153830 (Not an affiliate link.)

And it was a buck cheaper on Amazon as of 2/6/20, but that price can change in an instant. https://amzn.to/3bfWnQj Note: As an Amazon Associate Giz Wiz Biz earns from qualifying Amazon purchases. (Your cost is the same.)

Dick's Gadget Warehouse & How To Submit Your Video!

Talking about bargains, this week's viewer video is from Dell Neil who got a heck of a good deal on rechargeable batteries & a charger. Here's his email:

Good afternoon Dick and Chad.

I been looking for a double A battery charger for awhile. I pick this one up on Amazon for $6.
The battery and charger usually goes for about $20, but I actually found a really great discount code which gave it to me for $6. And after testing this a few times it works very well.

Have a great day there Dick and Chad

Dell Neal

The link Dell was a dead link when I clicked on it.

I did a web searchy and found that charger & battery combo, but it was $12.99 when I checked 2/6/20 & that  price can change at any minute.

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hting? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.
-
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
-
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.
-
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
-
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you'll also get an autographed 35-year-old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live, I can email an autographed to you Alfred E. Neuman photo if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it's a copy. We've tested it out and fans say they look terrific!

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv

Letter of the week:

We begin the week with a email that points out another mistake in our opening that I'm pretty sure no one noticed before! At least Chad & I didn't.

Hey Dick, Hey Chad

So, remember forever ago when someone pointed out that dumb was spelled 'dunb'?

I just noticed today that pathology is spelled wrong. Maybe we noticed it before now and I just don't remember. Only the best production value for our favourite dunb show.

Much love to you both, Sean (a.k.a. flavourtoothpaste)
