Our 14th Anniversary Show!! Giz Wiz Show #1767 February 20, 2020 Independent Show #249

Wow! The Giz Wiz Show celebrates our 14th anniversary this month! And it's our 5th year of Independent Production! (First Giz Wiz show was February 20th, 2006.) Thanks to our wonderful Patreon supporters we continue on! If it wasn't for them, the Giz Wiz Show would be gone. If you'd like to support OMGchad & DickDe in our independent venture (we pay for everything ourselves, including travel) just click the Patreon link at the top of our show web page: www.gizwiz.tv

On this week's show we have three gadgets from The Inspired Home Show Preview. This NYC show is a preview of some of the new gadgets that will their appearance at the Global show in Chicago during March.

Meet the Unbreakable LED Light Bulb - First a word about the 1st LED bulb I ever heard about. It was the GeoBulb, released on March 27, 2009 by ccrane. Leo Laporte was the one who reported on the GeoBulb's first 60-watt direct replacement that used less than 8 watts. He told me about it on the Daily Giz Wiz Netcast. The LED GeoBulb was designed to last for three years of continuous service, which is equivalent to 20 years at about four hours per day. BUT, the cost!! The GeoBulb LED light bulb was available from C. Crane for $119.95 for one, or for $113.95 each for orders of six or more. Okay, now comes the latest LED bulb I've ever seen, the Incredi-Bulb!It's the first bulb you can throw on the floor and watch it bounce! You can even crush the bulb part in your hand and watch it slowly pop back into shape. It feels like it's rubber but I'm not sure what it's made of. It will be available in 40 & 60 watt equivalents. And the cost? Somewhere in the $5 to $7 range, due out this Summer. I found this at the 2020 Inspired Home Press Event in NYC. When I told the person at the Butterie booth, "The Butter Dish Reinvented" I really was looking for more tech-like gadgets, she showed me this new light bulb and told me she had just secured the exclusive right to distribute it in the US. The packaging in the photo is just a mock-up and may be different when the bulb comes to market in summer. I'll post a link when I know more.

Drip, the water bottle with built in earbuds! (or, with earpods.)

But wait, there's more! Drip is a Bluetooth water bottle featuring and enclosed compartment that include high quality earbuds (or earpods) and a powerbank station. It easily syncs to your phone for 2-3 hours of playing time. The object is to have two everyday staples in one place! DRIP, the bottle itself, is stainless steel, vacuum insulated and dishwasher safe. The sleek design offers ear pods (or earbuds) that are either located in the top or the bottom. The bottle can be charged via USB. The two versions (which you'll see in the video, earpods, or earbuds are due out in September 2020. I listened to the earbuds version and the sound was very decent for the price. They'll range in price from $40 to $65.00.

A New To Get All Steamed Up!

It's the Chi Portable Steamer. This new gadget will be out in March, but in the meantime here's what the company says about it: The CHI handheld steamer provides a faster, more convenient way to freshen up your wardrove. Easily stow the steamer in your briefcase or purse to combat wrinkles on the go. The CHI handheld steamer is versitile and lightweight, capable of steaming in any direction, leaving your clothes smooth and ready to wear. Part of the CHI garment line, achieving the same trusted results for your wardrobe as you expect for your hair. Chad added that he liked the idea that this steamer can be used in any direction. Turns out other steamers have to be held a certain way so they don't drip water. It ships with a handy little travel sleeve. MSRP: $49.99

Chad's Crappy Corner & his third gadget for his new February Them.

Our loyal Patreons have voted! And Chad's new February “Cheap Gadget Theme” is...... “Cheap Gadgets From The Bargain or Clearance Bin! This week Chad's 3rd gadget is the EZ LED Flickering Flame Bulb.

Here's what Walmart says about it: The C9 Flickering Flame bulb features a c9 shape with a flame tip for added fire effect. 120v max, 2.0watts with E26 light bulb screw. The LED Flickering Flame bulb is one of the many great new products offered by EZ Illuminations! The LED Flickering flame bulb comes in multiple styles all of which features our latest technology of fire effects! The Flickering Flame bulb casts a realistic fire effect as well as simulates a real flame in any lamp or light bulb holder of your choice. EZ Illuminations Flame Led C9 Bulb
120v max - 2.0 Watts. E26 screw base for use with common household light sockets. Chad paid $6 for his at a Walmart close out.

And Chad's take:Chad thought this was a so-so bulb. It doesn't really look much like a flame when it's lit. As we discovered while recording the show, the flame effect looks better in the reflection on one of the studio monitors than the effect from the actual bulb looks. (You can see the reflection in the photo above.) And I have worse news for Chad about paying $6.00 on close-out. I checked the Walmart website on 2/21/20 and the bulbs were ------ 25 cents! But of course, they were sold out. If you near a Walmart, you might check to see if they have them for 25 cents or not. Maybe bring a print out of their web price.

Dick's Gadget Warehouse & How To Submit Your Video & Get An Autographed MAD Magazine!

Our viewer video this week is from Giz Wiz fan Dell Neal who writes:

Going with your clearance theme, I picked up this nice little unit to cook up to an 18 pound Turkey, not stuffed, in 2 hours.

I've used this unit twice already. And the Turkey and the chicken come out very moist.

Take care, Dell Neal

Dell's YouTube video:

Dell sent us the Amazon Warehouse link he used, but when I went there on 2/21/20 only used roasters were available.

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hting? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.
-
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
-
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.
-
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
-
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you'll also get an autographed 35-year-old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live, I can email an autographed to you Alfred E. Neuman photo if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it's a copy. We've tested it out and fans say they look terrific!

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv
