The Giz Wiz Show 1662, February 16th 2017 Independent Show #145

The Giz Wiz Show will start it's13th year this month! And soon we'll be entering our 4th year of Independent Production! That's thanks to our wonderful Patreon supporters! If it wasn't for them, the Giz Wiz Show would be gone. If you'd like to support OMGchad & DickDe in our independent venture (we pay for everything ourselves, including travel) just click the Patreon link at the top of our show web page: http://www.gizwiz.tv . You can also contribute just once via the PayPal link that's there too. And thank you for doing that! Our show wouldn't exist without our viewer's support, but a bit more support would be a big help. (As we can say honestly, asking for more Patreon supporters is not to make more money, it's to help us lose less money doing The Giz Wiz. Thanks.)

Now onto the gadgets! Like Snow Cones? Just in time for the upcoming (hopefully) warm weather – it's Little Snowie 2.

I saw the Snowie2 at the 2018 Houseware Show Preview. At first I wasn't going to talk about it because I thought at $199.00 it was expensive for a snow cone maker. Then I saw a company video about it and read some of the reviews on Amazon which changed my mind. I learned this is a heavy duty machine built by a company that is a driving force in the shaved ice industry. They build big commercial units but decided to build one for the consumer who didn't operate a professional business. That's where the Little Snowie 2 comes in. It's modeled after Snowie’s unstoppable commercial shavers but affordably priced for the home, office, backyard pool, etc. And the company says it's the fastest, most impressive home ice shaver in the world. On Amazon it got 4.9 stars out of five - and almost all of the reviews are 'verified' reviews. I didn't use one myself at the Houseware 2018 Preview I was amazed at how fast it made a snow cone and how powdery the ice looked. It's $199.99 at the company website, which probably does not include shipping.

Here's some background on the guys that build these machines - with a little commercial thrown in....it's only about two minutes long: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLKB_okinp4

Travel With A Touch More Room At The Window Seat On Your Flight.

spAIRtray says it's the world's first window shelf for extra room on most commercial aircraft window seats. Using it is easy. Just unfold it, insert one end of the back plate low in the alignment channel for the window’s sun visor and slide the other end into the channel on the other side of the window. Adjust to level out the tray and now have some extra space for your phone, eyeglasses, snack, etc. The company says you can even hang a jacket on it. On my flight back from CES I had a seat on the aisle, but since I boarded before my seatmate, I was able to give the tray a quick try. "Installing" it takes just a few seconds. Now, the space on the tray is not a lot, 4" X 12", but in a cramped coach seat, it could be an enormous help. I did not try this with the plane in motion, but the non-slip pad certainly seemed like it would hold your phone or plastic cup in place. The holes on both ends of the tray are for your eyeglasses/sunglasses. While spAIRtray doesn't claim your tray is germ free, at least you know where its been and you can clean it before you pack. It's washable in warm soapy water. And of course, it shouldn't be used during taxi, take-off, and landing. The company did a careful review of TSA and FAA requirements, and says you should have no trouble using it in flight. It comes with a convenient cloth travel bag. $25.00 and it's Amazon Prime.

Ever Spend Hours Trying to Find The Right AC Adapter For One Of Your Gadgets?

Then you should know about the SoulBay New Version 24W Universal Charger. If you love gadgets, you probably have a lot of them. That also means you also have a lot of gadget AC adapters. But what do you do when can't find the right adapter for your router, portable speaker, baby monitor, etc. Here's an easy solution. It's the SoulBay Universal charger AC/DC adapter. This one device has seven selectable outputs: 3V /4.5V /5V /6V /7.5V /9V /12V. But wait, there's more. It even includes a micro USB plug for charging phones, etc. It can be plugged into AC 100v~240V 0.25A 50/60Hz. The company says it's safe to use with FULL PROTECTION of over Voltages/ over Current/ short Circuits/ over Temperature. - All the capital letters is their idea. Although you can turn the selectable output dial with a small screwdriver or nail file, it comes with its own little slot key. And yes, it has something I always look for, an LED on the plug so you know the device is plugged into a working out. This replacement power adapter cord has DC Polarity with the inner connection Positive(+), and the outer Negative(-). The polarity is not reversible, but this should work for most gadgets. At least it did on the ones I tested. Amazon offers a inner negative post adapter too. It was $13.99 when I bought it and as of 2/14/18

Chad's Crappy Corner & His Third Gadget For His February Theme!

Chad's Crappy Corner Theme for February, as voted on by our loyal patreons, is “gadgets with apps” and this week Chad demostrates the

ZUS Connected Car Device. Chad didn't expect that this little inexpensive device would have it own app, but it does. And it does a lot for under $40. It can charge your personal electronics on-the-go using dual ultra-fast USB revesibile ports. (Reverisble ports means you can plug the USB charging cable in either way.) Zus says it can cut charging time of your device by about half compared to most normal external battery chargers. But wait, there's more. Using their smartphone app, the Zus device lets you know where you last left your car and can lead you back to it. It utilizes your phone's low-energy Bluetooth and navigates you right to your car w/ another feature of the app. It uses your phone's location services to do that. The app is available for iOS or Android. And as Chad points out, if you like, the app can keep track of the time on your parking meter. High tech lighting offers great visibility in the dark environment of your car too. Chad thought this was a very useful gadget with app for $39.99.

+++++++++++++++++++++++

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show, so here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:

I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.

-

I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.

-

My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.

-

My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.

-

Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you'll also get an autographed 35-year-old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live, I canemail an autographed to you Alfred E. Neuman photo if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it's a copy. We've tested it out and fans say they look terrific!

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv

Hi Chad and Dick! I thought you two would get a kick out of how gullible people think Canadians are. I am catchup and saw episode 1644 with the listener video showing off the Inateck backpack. So I went to amazon.ca to see how much it would cost me, and holy cow! They must think Canadian money is worthless, are we in stock market crash and I didn't hear about it?
