Giz Wiz Show 1756 December 5th, 2019 Independent Show #238

Wow! The Giz Wiz Showis in year 13 overall & our 5th year of Independent Production! (First Giz Wiz show was February 20th, 2006.) Thanks to our wonderful Patreon supporters we continue on! If it wasn't for them, the Giz Wiz Show would be gone. If you'd like to support OMGchad & DickDe in our independent venture (we pay for everything ourselves, including travel) just click the Patreon link at the top of our show web page: http://www.gizwiz. You can also contribute just once via the PayPal link that's there too. Thank you for doing that! Our show wouldn't exist without our viewer's support, but a bit more support would be a big help. Thanks from OMGchad & DickDe!

We start the show with an update on something Chad found a few weeks ago, The Disco LED Phone Light.I was impressed with the mini-multicolor dancing lights and looked for one on Amazon. Surprise! I found one that is about the same price as Chad paid, but for that price I could get three of them. And while Chad's LED disco light was designed only for an iPhone, the one I found on Amazon comes with adapters for micro-USB, USB-C, iPhone, and USB-A. It's sound activated so the lights dance to your voice, music or even your phone ringing. It plugs into the charging port of your smartphone, or you can power it from an external battery charger. You'll see it all in my Disco Dick's demo on this week's show.

A Chad Gadget Extra!

This week and next week Chad brings us a "non-crappy" and sometimes "not cheap" gadget to the show.

Need we say it? Phone NOT included! This week's Chad's Extra Gadget is The iHealth Full Automatic Wrist Smart Blood Pressure Monitor (with Bluetooth). Here's what Amazon says about it: The iHealth Bluetooth wrist blood pressure monitor instantly and accurately measures blood pressure and heart rate. It syncs wirelessly with the iHealth Myvitals App to give you full access to your measurement history, graphs of your personal health trends and list, and the ability to export & email results directly to your doctor or the one you love.

And Chad's take: Chad liked this device because it's small and easy to take when he travels. It's inexpensive, partly because it doesn't contain a screen. All measurements show up on your smartphone which Chad likes because it stays there in memory. Chad also liked that conture of the case provides an easy place to rest your arm as you take your blood pressure. It has a built in battery but uses the older mini-USB cable which is included. Be sure to watch this week's show to see Chad's demo.

I'm really attracted to these 'magnetic charging cables'!

Amazon describes them as: Magnetic Phone Charger Cable, GARAS 3 in 1 Nylon Braided USB Fast Charging & Data Syncing Cord with LED Light Compatible with Mirco USB, Type C Smartphone and iProduct (3.9 ft-Red). Here's a bit more of what Amazon says about them: GARAS round magnetic charging cable support QC 2.0/3.0 quick charge, data sync speed up to 480Mbps. And my take? I like these a lot. The charging tips are so small you can leave them in the device and then just connect the magnetic cable depending on which one you want to charge. An LED light lets you know there's power in the cable. The cable comes with 3 different types of magnetic cable tips: USB Type C, Micro-USB and i-Product. I paid $8.99. I also bought a magnetic charging Cafele cable, but when I connected that one to my LG G7 the screen said: “slow charging – 2+ hours”. When I switched to the Garas cable the screen said: “full charge - 53 minutes.”

Chad's Crappy Corner & his new December gadget theme as voted on by our loyal Patreon members.

Chad polled our loyal patreon supporters and for the 'cheap gadget' theme for December they picked a topic perfect for the cold weather: “Cheap Gadget to Keep You Warm!”

Chad's first Keep Warm Gadget is The Ontel Handy Heater. (This is one of those gadgets sold under many different brand names.)

Here's what Amazon says about it: The personal heater can be plugged into any outlet for quick and easy heat. It says cool to the touch, and it’s compact design allows you to have warmth and comfort wherever you’d like. The digital temperature display and programmable 12-hour timer makes it easy to adjust to your ideal temperature, so you can feel comfortable and warm in your space.

And Chad's take: Chad liked this little heater, but warned that since it is a little heater, expect it to heat just little areas. He thought it would work well in a bathroom, but was disappointed to read on the box 'not for use in the bathroom'. Watch the video to see it in action and how much space is left on a two-plug wall socket after you plug this thing in. I thought the weirdest thing Chad found was that to give the appearance the heater is really doing a great job, it has two glowing orange LED's at the bottom of the grill. Chad paid $19 for his at Walmart.

Dick's Gadget Warehouse & How to Submit Your Viewer Video On Any Gadget!

Our video viewer email this week is from Adam Jakowenko who writes:

Hey Dick and Chad,

Got this fella on Amazon for $20... a bit steep for such silliness but Christmas is only once a year, right? As I note in the video, I do not recall seeing you cover this particular Santa gadget before but I suppose it's possible as I have not seen every episode. So if you've already covered it feel free to ignore, but if not and you deem entertaining, feel free to use on the show.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:

I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hting? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.
-
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
-
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.
-

My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
-
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you'll also get an autographed 35-year-old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live, I can email an autographed to you Alfred E. Neuman photo if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it's a copy. We've tested it out and fans say they look terrific!

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv

Letter of the week!

From: Princess Willy

Hey Dick and Chad, I've actually seen the shoe covers that you featured on the last episode, used by my plumber! I was asking him about them, and they're perfect to slip on before entering a customer's house, both to protect their shoes from gross sewage spills and to protect your house from whatever they were doing on the last job. Apparently they keep a whe box of them in their truck, and wash them every day.
