Giz Wiz Show 1758 Show of Dec 19th, 2019 Independent Show #240

Wow! The Giz Wiz Showis in year 13 overall & our 5th year of Independent Production! (First Giz Wiz show was February 20th, 2006.) Thanks to our wonderful Patreon supporters we continue on! If it wasn't for them, the Giz Wiz Show would be gone. If you'd like to support OMGchad & DickDe in our independent venture (we pay for everything ourselves, including travel) just click the Patreon link at the top of our show web page: www.gizwiz.tv.

And now on with the show!

Meet the bowl that has Gyro Technology!! It's the

Ztl Baby Gyro Bowl 360 Degree Rotation Spill Resistant Gyroscopic Bowl with Lid Toy Tableware for Kids Toddlers.

Here's what Amazon says about it: Universal Gyro Bowl, great for babies and kids to have fun while they eat but without the mess. Made of premium quality food grade PP material, safe for your kids to use. Adjusts to the normal positing if the the baby twists, tilts or turns the bowl, easy to train the baby to eat without help. Anti-Spill design, the inner bowl with gyroscopic motion can rotate 360 degrees to keep dry food inside and avoid food spilling; Easy to Clean and Dishwasher Safe.

From the Giz Wiz: When I read the bowl might fall apart when you receive it, but please don't worry, our gyro bowl is detachable and can be reassembled in seconds. As you'll see in the video I dropped it and it did fall apart. I put it back together again, but not in seconds. You'll also see how I was totally impressed with this device for about the first 2 minutes! Then --- well watch the video! It was just $1 on Wish, but $4 shipping & 4 to 6 weeks for delivery. I bought mine on Amazon for a bit more than that, but got it in 2 days.

Cold weather outside making it bone dry inside?

Help is on the way with the Taotronics Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier.

The TaoTronics Cool Mist Humidifier is for Bedroom, 6L Humidifier for Home Large Room, 1M High Output, Easy to Clean and Fill, Night Light, Auto Shut Off, Night Light, Ultra Quiet for Babies-6L/1.59 Gallon. As for me, I like the large tank which is a touch more than 1.5 gallons if I did the conversion right. There's a 360°swivel nozzle to direct the mist where you most want it, and the company says it can provide up to 60 hrs of continuous mist. I found it very quiet fan, 26dB says Taotronics. The unit does have auto shut-off and a red light to let you know the tank is empty. I like the built-in night light with a warm, glow and the blue light so you can easily see how much water is left in the tank. Even though many of reviews complain the lights are too bright and can't be shut off, there is a tiny button that lets you turn either one on or off. The price ranges from $50 to $60 and is ever-changing.

Want to speed things up really fast? You can do it with the Afidus Time Lapse Camera!

I haven't used the Afidus ATL-200 camera personally but have seen the incredible time lapse videos they can produce. Afidus says their ATL-200 camera offers 1080 video, Wi-Fi app control, 16-35mm optical zoom (SLR equivalent), over a month of battery life (4 AA's), macro capabilities and more. Perfect for everything from construction to research, art to 3D printing and more. If you want to document any project longer than two hours this is your camera of choice. At NAB2019, this camera won a Product of the Year award and was a Best in Show pick. As of 12/18/19 it was $399.99. I posted links to a couple of the company videos so you can see what this camera can do.

Here's an Art Installation that took two weeks to install. Afidus was onsite with 5 cameras for 2 weeks capturing this 1000 square foot mural in Downtown Rochester, Minnesota: https://youtu.be/fvOvxzT3cyI

Close-up Videos are also impressive: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PIiMmHE_oKo

Chad's Crappy Corner & His Third December Theme Gadget!

Chad polled our loyal Patreon fans and for December's Cheap Gadget Theme they picked: “Cheap Gadgets to keep you warm”. Chad's third cheap gadget is the Smart Gear 12-Volt Heated Auto Seat Cushion.

Chad got his a Kohls, and this is what they say about it: Enjoy a warm and toasty commute on those extra cold days with this Smart Gear heated auto seat cushion. High and low heat settings for customized comfort. Built-in elastic seat straps and under-seat hooks for a custom fit in any seat. 18"W x 36.5"D. Plugs into any 12-volt DC automobile power socket. Chad paid $12.99.

And Chad's take? Chad said if your car doesn't have heated seats this would be an inexpensive way to have one. But there were a couple of things he didn't like about this device. There isn't an easy way to keep the top of the heated seat from falling or sliding down. And it doesn't look anything like the one in the photo. Also there's no indicator that it's on, so you can easily run down the battery if you left the car and forgot to shut it off. The LED on the plug into the 12 volt lighter socket glows red to show you there's power but it doesn't let you know if the seat heat is on or off. But then again, it was only $12.99. (That price can change at any time.) You'll see and hear his full review in this week's show.

Dick's Gadget Warehouse & How to Submit Your Viewer Video On Any Gadget!

Our videos this week are a bit different. They feature old gadgets, but the fan Gregory, who emailed the links to us, is the inventor of them both.

Invention #1: The Nanny:

https://youtu.be/cZO81uxJaM8

I asked Gregory how much it cost to bring the product to market? He answered:

It cost approximately $5,000- $7,000 to develop the prototype. Then of course there was the cost of the package design, packaging and inventory. Marketing involved trade shows and advertising in trade magazines.

And what technology did the Nanny use between the two units?

I believe it was radio frequency. I could be wrong. I am simply the person that comes up with the product idea then hands it off to the product development team that sees if they can make it work.

The second video is my Wizard Electronic Dice.

Again, development cost was $5,000-$7,000. The engineers that developed the technology for these products to work were in China where the cost of development was 4 to 5 times cheaper that having it done domestically..

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:

I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hting? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.
-
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
-
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.
-

My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
-
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you'll also get an autographed 35-year-old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live, I can email an autographed to you Alfred E. Neuman photo if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it's a copy. We've tested it out and fans say they look terrific!

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv

Letter of the week!

Our most faithful fan Mo emails us: I need this, you guys could use this to leave GiZ WiZ on anything.

Note: The name of the product in this video is quite amusing to most, but some might say a bit naughty. You've been warned.
