A Great Green Effort.

ProtoPrint's IMPACT filament.ProtoPrint's social enterprise started in India, and will be moving to other countries starting in June, 2014. They've developed a way to turn discarded plastic bottles into 3D HDPE Filament for 3D printers. The object is to produce a lower cost “ink” for 3D printers made from discarded plastics, while at the same time earning money for the people who gather and sort the waste. I think it’s a great idea. Here’s a bit more from their website: Protoprint Solutions is a Social Enterprise based in Pune, India that provides low-cost 3D printing services to students and professionals in India while empowering urban waste pickers with the technology and resources to produce 3D printer filament from waste plastic, creating an active system of micro-entrepreneurs. ProtoPrint calls this recycled filament IMPACT.
