Weekly Daily Giz Wiz, Week of July 11th, 2011, Netcast 1322

I confess. I don’t own a iPad, or any digital tablet!
I have six computers in my office, but none at home. My office and my apartment are back to back, so why bother getting another computer. But late at night if I want to check my emails I use either my iPod Touch or my Droid X2. But when Acer said they had some loner units of their Acer Iconia Tab, I thought it would be a great way to see what a tablet offers. The Iconia Tab ships with Android Honeycomb (3.1) and features a 10.1-inch screen (1,280x800-pixel resolution) along with GPS, front and rear cameras, Adobe Flash, micro-SD card slot and full 1080p HDMI output. Other specs include an Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor, 1,024MB of DDR3 dual-channel memory and 16GB of built-in storage. It’s WiFi only (b, g, n), and ships with two full games and a nice uncluttered screen layout. Apps are organized in different sections such as multimedia, eReading, etc. To test out the camcorder this week’s Video for Dick’s Gadget Warehouse was shot and uploaded to YouTube directly from the Acer Iconia Tab. Video quality was great. I should have checked the audio settings before I shot it, because it’s on the low side. The price in also a bit on the low side, 449.99 at Best Buy. Available now.
