Dick’s Gadget Warehouse & How To Submit Your Video To Win An Autographed Copy of MAD Magazine.

Our viewer video this week is from Jason Peddicord who has been on the Giz Wiz show with fun videos before. He emails us:

    Hi Dick & Chad:

This video has four different items. The thermos have the name "Zojirushi" on them that I'm not sure how to pronounce.

And I forgot to mention that the cup in the video is by Camelbak.

Dick’s Gadget Warehouse & How To Submit Your Video To Win An Autographed Copy of MAD Magazine.

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.
    -
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
    -
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.
    -
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
    -
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you'll also get an autographed 38+ year old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live outside of US, I can autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res copy if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it's a copy. We've tested it out and fans say they look terrific! If you submitting warehouse videos for a second, third time, etc., you'll get the current issue of MAD as a thank you.

    Email of the week!

Our email of the week is from Michael Prine. He is referring to our talk about antifreeze on a recent Giz Wiz Show. He writes:

    Hi Dick & Chad:

There are two main types of antifreeze. One uses propylene glycol which in non toxic for people and pets. It is probably even listed as an ingredient in your favorite soda.

The other is ethylene glycol which is toxic to both people and pets but is cheaper so it is typically used in antifreeze for your car. Both taste sweet but don't try it with the ethylene glycol.

Here's a compact dishwasher that does a great job!

My old dishwasher lasted about 15 to 20 years. It had one single dial which you twisted to do everything. I started a search for a new one and found dishwashers had become way more complicated. I found a great deal on the MOOSOO Countertop Compact Dishwasher, Model MX50. It's equipped with 5 washing programs: Eco, Usual, Intense, Fast, and Soft. I think they're called something else in the instruction manual. There's 3-stage filtration system that can filter the food residues that fall during the cleaning process to avoid clogging the drain pipe. Dishwasher size is 21.65″W – 17.72”H & 19.69″L. It has a capacity of 6 place settings, said to be suitable for families of 3-4 people. The dishwasher can intelligently heat water to 158°F to sterilize up to 99.99%. There are dual spray arms and many more features. There's even an interior light. I hook mine up to bathroom sink faucet and it drains into my tub. Hoses and adapters were included. I bought mine on eBay for about $220 with free shipping.

The Giz Wiz Tries Yet Another Wireless Mic System

It's the Comica VDLIVE 10 2.4G Dual Lavalier Microphone with Charging Case for USB C Smartphones and some other devices. This system offers a lot of options. Dual-channel mono/stereo switch, volume adjustment, mute functions, internal and external mic modes, pairing and battery charge indicators. Comica says with the USB A to USB C and 3.5mm TRRS-TRRS adapter, you can mount the receiver to a DSLR camera, smartphone, or laptop. The VD LIVE 10 Mini wireless mic takes 4 hours to fully charge the charging case, which can charge two transmitters and one receiver 3-times. You can also check the battery status, output mode, and audio dynamics details on the IPS. But wait, there's more! Equipped with a 3.5mm headphone jack, you can test whether the lav mic is working during recording. You can also monitor the sound from the device while live streaming. This seemed like an incredible package for about the same price at the Larkbird system I bought and reviewed recently. Both systems are in the $150 to $180 range. Sadly, one of the two mics produced dreadful sound. I returned it and got a replacement. After after two days of testing, one of those two new mics started acting up. So I'm returning that unit too and searching for something different. It did get pretty good reviews on Amazon, but from less that 40 reviewers. $169.99 when I bought mine.

It's half of a patio umbrella stand, but it cost about the same as half, or even some whole patio umbrellas!

I bought the Outsunny Half Round Umbrella Basefor my backyard and I'm using in it way I don't think the company recommends. It says something like 'use umbrella base up against a wall or support. I'm using mine as a way to be able to walk into the backyard without tripping over, or going around the full size umbrella stand I was using. Having a half umbrella stand gives me a clearer path. My umbrella has some support from the backyard fence, so it doesn't totally depend on the Outsunny base for support. This device is lightweight when you get it, but then you fill it with sand or water. It has a 40lb capacity for water or 46lb for sand. It comes with a spacer so it can fit 1.5" or 2" umbrella poles. It's designed with two tightening knobs to secure the umbrella pole. The patio umbrella HDPE base (I have no idea what HDPE is) and steel pole are said to be outdoor ready. I sure hope so! Overall Dimensions: 19.75" L x 12.25" W x 13.75" H. Assembly required, which merely means screwing a plate on the bottom of the device to hold the steel umbrella pipe in place. MSRP: $49.99, which is what I paid.

Chad's Crappy Corner and his brand new 'cheap gadget' theme for June.

Chad's Cheap Gadget Theme For June, picked by our loyal Patreons, is Cheap Summertime Gadgets. Chad's 1st Cheap Summertime Gadget is the Can Slam.

Talk about cheap, Can Slam is just $5 at Five Below. Here's some info from the company: Get outdoors & play! The Can Slam game is tons of fun for the whole family. Just aim the flying disc & try to slam it in the can! Perfect for the backyard, park, picnic, even the beach! This game folds up small & is easy to take anywhere. What’s included: 1 disc, 1 pop-up can

    can size: 15.9in (W) x 23.2in (H). Ages: 6+ (with adult supervision)

And Chad's take? Chad likes this game. It's like throwing a frisbee so it lands in the can. You get more points if it goes into the can through the slot on the side than in the opening at the top. Chad said it would be best to buy two Can Slams and play in teams. Since it easily folds up, you can take it anywhere, even the beach. At $5 a game, why not buy two. UPDATE: Seems it is sold out at Five Below online, but hopefully you can find it at a Five Below store.

    http://www.fivebelow.com/

This looks like the same kind of game play. You get two sets, but it's $24.99 & free Prime shipping. Check the latest price on Amazon: https://amzn.to/3McABOz
