The New & Unique 'Back To School' Gadgets I Showed On World News Now.

Here's the spot as it aired on World News Now, ABC Network: https://abcnews.go.com/WNN/video/back-school-gadgets-72300873

Which should I get? Laptop or tablet? Why not both? In one device!

It's the 2020 version of the very popular Acer Spin 3

. This versatile notebook has a 360-degree hinge, so the touchscreen display can be used in virtually any position, notebook, tablet, or tent mode, perfect for watching learning videos, or even for playing games when lessons are over. There is a built-in garage for the active stylus that uses Wacom AES technology and keeps it from being misplaced. Powered by a 10th Generation Intel Core processor it can deliver up to 12 hours of battery life. There's and 14-inch full HD IPS display, webcam, microphone, stereo speakers, integrated fingerprint reader and durable aluminum chassis. Available starting at $500. Higher end models might include deluxe features like an Intel i7 chip, 512 GB Solid State Drive, and up to 8GB of ram. Available now at places like WalMart, Amazon and Costco.

Searching online, here are the specs of the $699.00 model at Walmart: Acer Spin 3, 2-in-1 Laptop, 14" Full HD IPS Touch, 10th Gen Intel Core i7-1065G7, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD, Rechargeable Active Stylus, SP314-54N-77L5 (Google Classroom Compatible). This was lower than the price I saw on Amazon. (As of 8/9/20)

Meet The Pix LED Digital Large Size Backpack & The Up-coming Pix Mini.

I always try to find a unique backpack for back to school, and these two Pix Backpacks are about as techie as you can get. Use your mobile device to write, draw and even play games like Tetris right on your backpack. The flexible, water-repellent fabric makes it resistant to water splashes and major physical impact. Use your own power pack that has a 2A output, one is not included. A 10,000 mAh powerpack is enough to power the Pix Backpack for 5-6 hours of nonstop usage. There are two versions. The bigger one is just called the Pix LED Digital Backpack. It has more features and more room than the new Mini-Pix backpack. It is available in black or gray with a MSRP of $199.00

Like it's big brother, the Pix-Mini also allows an integrated in-app image editor let kids create animations and display them on the ambient screen of the backpack. Plus, the company says the Pix Mini app offers brain-stimulating games designed to test memory and cognitive capabilities. Now the Pix Mini was supposed to be ready in time for 'back to school' delivery, but Convid-19 put it off for a month or so. Delivery now is expected to be next month (September), and right now it's priced at $99 if preordered on the company website. I don't know how long the $99 price will be in effect. Full MSRP is $159.00. IMPORTANT NOTE: Use your own power pack that has a 2A output, one is not included with either backpack, the Pix-Mini, or Pix original. The company says a 10,000 mAh powerpack is enough to power the Pix Backpack for 5-6 hours of nonstop usage.

Charging for all those gadgets you need for classes.

The more gadgets you have the more charging gadgets you need. So now there are two more from Anker, a leader in charging device. Meet the Anker PowerPort Strip PD 3 & PD 6. We saw them at CES 2020, and they came into the marketplace a couple of months ago. (And already they're doing well with the Amazon reviewers.) The PD 3 offers 3 Outlets and 3 USB (1 USB C, 2 USB A) ports w/Surge Protector, Ground Indicator and extra space between the AC outlets to accommodate those larger transformer plugs. The smaller PD 3 lets you charge up to 6 devices from a single wall outlet. The High-Speed 30 W PD (Power Delivery) USB Charging port is really fast and Anker says it can charge an iPhone about 2.5 times faster than a regular charger. If 3 isn't enough outlets, there's also the PD 6 which has the same USB charging capacity, but adds an additional 3 outlets for a total of 9 possible charging options. MSRP is $37.99 for the PD 3 and $49.99 for the PD 6.

Need to do homework after the lights go out? This LED lamp can be a big help!

This compact goose-neck clip lamp offers 3 Color Modes (3000K, 4500K & 6500K) plus 10 levels of brightness, so you can create 30 illumination modes. Be aware that the light itself is on the small side, about 1.5" across, but it puts out a nice amount of light. The company says the box contains a UL Certified Adapter, which is much safer than the other adapters. Besides the AC adapter, this clip light has a 4.8 feet USB cord which you can easy to plug into any available USB port. (You can use a external battery pack too. I tried it for a just about ten minutes and it worked fine.) The 360° flexible gooseneck (about 15" long) allows you to adjust your clip light to direct the light wherever you want. And it stays in place, unlike many lamps I've used where the head keeps creeping downward. The Clamp-on Lamp provides high CRI (90+) LED beads, brings you a clear and bright lighting effect while also restoring the color of an object. MSRP $16.99. It was a bit cheaper than that on Amazon. I already bought two of them.

Check Out This Bigger Version Gooseneck Clip Lamp Too.

    UPDATE!

I found a larger version of the LED Gooseneck clip lamp above on Amazon, so of course, I bought one. The in-line control of the light seems pretty much the same, but it has a bigger, heavier clamp & a wider lamp head, about 3" in diameter. It was a few $ more, about $20. It won't be as convenient for travel because it's bigger and heavier. But it's also more powerful, which means it's brighter than the one above. So if you also want to use it as lighting for Skype, Zoom, etc., this might be a better choice that the one above.
