Will Keurig Kold Be A Hot Seller?

Will you crave a freshly made cold soda, as much as you crave a freshly brewed cup of coffee? Meet Keurig Kold.

If you have a Keurig K-Cup machine, you'll be probably be surprised at how much bigger their new Keurig Kold is. It's 19.25” deep, 12” wide and approximately 15” tall. It's not a good fit for a small apartment because it takes up a lot of counter space. It does have a water tank like the hot beverage Keurig machine, and it uses it's own special pods. To make a cold beverage, take a pod and remove the 'freshness' tab from the bottom. Then insert it in the machine and push the lighted button. It takes about 90 seconds to make an 8 ounce 39 degree (Fahrenheit) carbonated beverage. Surprisingly, carbonation is done by the pod, no gas cylinder is needed. As you'll learn in the video, there is a very wide assortment of drinks available, especially drinks from Coke who helped finance this machine. The mojito I had was great - the pod contains everything but the liquor. I also had a Coke-Zero which is my favorite soda. It was okay, but it did have an after-taste I don't find with bottled or canned Coke Zero. And then there's the price. The machine is $299.00, and the pods are four for about $5.00. That means each 8 ounce soda serving is $1.25. I'm not sure people will pay as much for a 'fresh' soda as they will for a 'fresh' cup of coffee. Time will tell how successful Keurig Kold will be.

Two really useful under $10 gadgets I found at SEMA 2015.

The SuperVizor XT is a safety-tool designed by Avi Goldstein, a NYC Paramedic who has been at many major car accident scenes. He designed his emergency tool, which enables drivers to cut the seatbelt and smash a car window, to be kept within easy reach. Avi said often an accident victim is pinned behind the steering wheel and can't reach the glove compartment or down under his seat. Even if he reaches his glove compartment there's probably all kind of junk in there. That's why Avi's lifesaving tool attaches to the visor directly over the driver's head for easy reach. It's a small, inexpensive gadget that hopefully you'll never have to use, but if you do, it can be a real lifesaver. Features include 440 stainless steel body construction, a 440 Stainless steel seatbelt cutting blade, a stainless steel window punch and a rubber molded finger grip. It also comes with a heavy duty nylon sheath that attaches to sun visor for easy access. It also has a cover that protect you and the cutting blade which is very sharp. Available in four colors. $9.99 at Avi's website:

If you're any sort of handy-person you have probably used. WD-40. You may have also tried to spray WD-40 into a hard to reach place only to discover you pretty much sprayed it on everything but not exactly the spot you wanted. There's where the new WD-40 Multi-Use Product Can comes in. It features a long, 8" flexible straw that bends and keeps its shape. That means users can get around corners and crevices, and up and under things, to spray the same WD-40 Multi-Use Product most of us have used elsewhere. To quote Tim Lesmeister, vice president of marketing at WD-40 Company: “This new delivery system gives trade professionals and DIYers the ability to reach the unreachable and accomplish difficult tasks in overhead areas, under the sink plumbing components, or specific sections in motors and engines, among numerous other uses.” WD-40 EZ Reach should be just about everywhere by now and I've seen it for about $8 for a 14.4oz can.If you don't need to use the EZ Reach straw, just fold it down and use the WD-40 the normal way. I think this is a great idea for spraying those hard to reach areas. For more information about WD-40 EZ-REACH and how it can help you get WD-40 Multi-Use Product into hard-to-reach places, visit

At SEMA 2015, they introduced a 3D printed car, the Local Motors Swim!

At the 2015 SEMA Show in Las Vegas Local Motors unveiled the LM3D Swim, their latest 3D-printed vehicle. Local Motors live-printed the world’s first 3D-printed car at SEMA last year, so introducing a new model this year drew a lot of attention. The LM3D Swim was designed by Kevin Lo, a Local Motors community member who won the company’s Project Redacted challenge in July. The winning design was chosen by community votes and a judging panel that included former Tonight Show host Jay Leno and SEMA Vice President of Vehicle Technology John Waraniak. That competition was hosted on Local Motors’ co-creation platform, Open IO, with the goal of identifying designs for the next generation of 3D-printed cars. Software developed by Siemens, including Solid Edge®, allowed the Local Motors product development team to move quickly from concept to car with the simplicity of direct modeling and flexibility of synchronous technology. Local Motors plans to release several new models in the LM3D series throughout 2016 while pursuing federal crash testing and highway certifications. While presales of the cars are expected to begin in spring 2016 with a targeted MSRP of $53,000, manufacturing and delivery of the vehicles are expected in early 2017. All cars in the LM3D series will be built at a new Local Motors microfactory now under construction in Knoxville, Tennessee, which is slated for completion by the end of 2015.

The Giz Wiz buys Vizio's smallest 4K TV. And has a hook-up question for Scott Wilkinson.

The VIZIO M-Series 43-Inch Ultra HD Full-Array LED Smart TV boasts four times the resolution of 1080p Full HD. I had heard it was silly to buy a 4K TV because there was no 4K content, but it turns out you can get Ultra HD streaming from popular apps like Netflix, Amazon Instant Video and UltraFlix. (Ultra HD is the new 4K name.) Also even if you're watching older content, the Vizio Spatial Scaling Engine transforms 360p and 1080p HD movies, and TV shows into near Ultra HD. I'm really impressed with the pictrure quality on just about any show I watch on this set. And support for the latest HDMI standards enables Ultra HD playback from next generation cable and satellite receivers, Blu-ray players and game consoles. And of course a healthy variety of Internet channels are built into the Vizio. And finally, the price was just $549.99 on their website, but I paid the same at price Best Buy. It's on Amazon at a slightly lower price, $529.99, plus free shipping, but it's not Amazon Prime.

VIZIO M43-C1 43-Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV (2015 Model)

And this is speaker I wanted to hook up to Vizio,  the Bose Sound Link Mini.

This little guy measures just 2” x 7” x 2.3”, but it puts out a lot of sound for its size. I could hear some bass without my neighbors hearing. (I live in NYC apartment.) The SoundLink Mini enclosure features two new passive radiators and a patented surround to reproduce some decent low notes. And these Bose transducers move twice the volume of air as conventional same-size transducers to deliver clear mid- and high frequencies too. The SoundLink Mini speaker comes with a charging cradle, making it easy to grab-and-go, and a rechargeable lithium-ion battery for up to seven hours of listening away from power. But mine will just sit close to my Vizio TV. Price is $199.00. As you'll see on Amazon, it was well rated with 4.7 stars out of 5 by some 732 reviews (as of 11/6/15) The Sound Link Bluetooth Mini II, which is the same price as the original, adds a microphone to take phone calls via Bluetooth.

    This is no longer available.
