The Giz Wiz buys Vizio's smallest 4K TV. And has a hook-up question for Scott Wilkinson.
The VIZIO M-Series 43-Inch Ultra HD Full-Array LED Smart TV boasts four times the resolution of 1080p Full HD. I had heard it was silly to buy a 4K TV because there was no 4K content, but it turns out you can get Ultra HD streaming from popular apps like Netflix, Amazon Instant Video and UltraFlix. (Ultra HD is the new 4K name.) Also even if you're watching older content, the Vizio Spatial Scaling Engine transforms 360p and 1080p HD movies, and TV shows into near Ultra HD. I'm really impressed with the pictrure quality on just about any show I watch on this set. And support for the latest HDMI standards enables Ultra HD playback from next generation cable and satellite receivers, Blu-ray players and game consoles. And of course a healthy variety of Internet channels are built into the Vizio. And finally, the price was just $549.99 on their website, but I paid the same at price Best Buy. It's on Amazon at a slightly lower price, $529.99, plus free shipping, but it's not Amazon Prime.

And this is speaker I wanted to hook up to Vizio, the Bose Sound Link Mini.
This little guy measures just 2” x 7” x 2.3”, but it puts out a lot of sound for its size. I could hear some bass without my neighbors hearing. (I live in NYC apartment.) The SoundLink Mini enclosure features two new passive radiators and a patented surround to reproduce some decent low notes. And these Bose transducers move twice the volume of air as conventional same-size transducers to deliver clear mid- and high frequencies too. The SoundLink Mini speaker comes with a charging cradle, making it easy to grab-and-go, and a rechargeable lithium-ion battery for up to seven hours of listening away from power. But mine will just sit close to my Vizio TV. Price is $199.00. As you'll see on Amazon, it was well rated with 4.7 stars out of 5 by some 732 reviews (as of 11/6/15) The Sound Link Bluetooth Mini II, which is the same price as the original, adds a microphone to take phone calls via Bluetooth.
