    BNOX Binoculars
You can still get the BNOX binoculars, though not as bright and cheerful as Dick's old set, from IHSMall.com, and on eBay.  At the time of writing, there's even an old Speedo Edition available on Craig's List in Hartford selling for $20.

    Leo Snaps Again
The whole internet knows Leo can't help snapping at crunchy things, but now he's snapped his Terratrike too, or more precisely the derailleur of his recumbent trike, which is being repaired.

    2x Speed
Tim from Virginia listens to Leo's shows 24/7 and still can't get through them all.  He's finally worked out how Leo does it: Leo talks at 2x speed and post production slows it down to normal.

    Mondegreens
Tim, like Tony and Jenny Bassett in Episode 798, also wonders what the last line of the Audible Theme is.  The Bassetts thought it might be "We love climbing on my cow," while Tim thinks it's "All of my fighting on my cow."  Dick and Leo have their own mondegreens to share:

    Gladly the cross-eyed bear ...
Our Father, who art in New Haven, how did you know my name ...
We all like sheep ... (All we, like sheep, have gone astray)

Jon Carroll of the San Francisco Chronicle has a whole list of them: see Mondegreens Ripped My Flesh.  For the origin of the word "mondegreen": see Wikipedia.

    TV Theme Songs
Leo gets into a TV theme song mode, the Mary Tyler Moore Show and Beverly Hllbillies.  Both available on YouTube.

    Mary Noble in Backstage Wife
Dick and Leo do a hammed-up episode of "Citrix Theatre", a la Mary Noble in Backstage Wife, an old time radio show.

    CPP
Microsoft got a double metion this week, and so does Andrew Rodriguez in the Letters Section.  He was disappointed that Leo didn't know what CPP stood for in Episode 895, listener and inventor John Henry's title.  It's the file extension for C++!  Leo gets no geek credit from Andrew.

    Episode 1000
Dick and Leo are planning to do Episode 1000 live from CES 2010.  Leo is still waiting to hear from the CEA.

    Microsoft LifeCam Cinema
Leo is waiting eagerly for the LifeCam Cinema from Microsoft, coming out in September, which takes 720p HD video at 30fps at an affordable price.

    Bloomberg Joke
The New York paper Daily News is doing a feature on the upcoming NY mayoral election.  One of the features is asking each candidate to tell a joke on video.  Here's Bloomberg's:

    Oh No!
Listener Joe Quiatkowski has another candidate for the Home Office location: Onoville, New York.  The name came from too many Oh-No's to suggestions for the town's name at a town meeting.

    Episode 901

    Bestest Time
Dick had the bestest time in California, what with the Wine Train, the Tesla Roadster drive, the Wild Planet tour, and the meet-up at Jillian's Billiards, where he met Barbara Snyder, whose brother Dave Snyder happens to be Dick's neighbour who is in the Gizneyland studio watching the recording.  Next time, Leo will take Dick to a special behind-the-scenes tour of Alcatraz, run by TWiT listener Ranger Craig.

    Floppies
Dick's first floppy was made by Verbatim.  Leo remembers that the Mac used to make 3.5" hard-shell diskettes with a storage of 400KB, then 800KB (double-sided), and finally the PC made 1.44MB diskettes (HD diskettes).  Predating those of course were bigger floppies with even tinier storage capacities.

    Meeting the Tesla Roadster
Darrell and Marilyn Holmquist brought their Tesla Roadster to Petaluma for everyone at TWiT to have a test run, including Dane, Tony and Colleen.  Everyone loved the car.  It left about 200 miles worth of engine power for their 170 miles journey back home, but they made it.  The Roadster engine, by the way, is about the size of a water melon.  Dick loves the silent acceleration of the Roadster.  Colleen, who is a bit of car buff herself, finds the Tesla easily the nicest car she has ever tried.

    Ideas for a Podcast
Darrell Holmquist himself used to a computer technician and programmer, and for him the TWiT Network has replaced the radio, keeeping him up to date with the latest technology.  All Leo needs now is an electric car netcast, or a more general "going green" netcast.
