    Episode 930

    A T & T - You Will
Dick and Leo talk about the recently rediscovered A T & T "You Will" Commercials from 1993, now on YouTube.

    Podcast Awards
Alan Buckingham writes in to remind Dick and Leo that the Podcast Awards are about to receive nominations and voting, on 4 October.  Leo is considering entering the Daily Giz Wiz in the People's Choice, Technology and Science, and Comedy categories.

    Downloading DGW Back Catalogue
In Episode 920 John Zengerle mentioned that he was listening to older episodes using the All Episodes RSS Feed.  Neither Dick nor Leo remembered what the feed was, and Ludwik Trammer of GizWizSearch reminds them that it was a feed he created specially for new listeners to catch up on old shows.

    Episode 929

    Windows 7 House Party
Leo has signed up and been selected for a Windows 7 Launch Party at houseparty.com.  He's going to host it at TWiT Cottage during the recording of Windows Weekly on Thursday 22 October, the day of the launch.

    Speed Listening Again
Devon Blaugh from Trinidad and Tobago, who was a WTHII winner (Episode 801), has a suggestion for those who want to listen to Leo's non-stop programming at an accelerated speed but whose mp3 players do not support the function: Podshifter.

    Episode 928

    Lulu.com
Another website for printing your book on demand is lulu.com.

    Dick's Upcoming Book
No kidding, Dick is writing a new book.  Nothing to do with MAD this time.  It's going to be called "The 327 Most Memorable People I Ever Met", featuring famous people such as Gregory Peck and even Leo Laporte.

    The Other DeBartolo
Edward DeBartolo is the largest owner of shopping malls in the world (or the States).  He is not Dick's father, though not for want of trying Dick's part.  Here Dick reprises the story he first told in Episode 34.

    Dead or Alive
The report by Leo of Arte Johnson's death is very interesting, not very funny, and greatly exaggerated.  The recently deceased cast member of Laugh-In that Leo has in mind may be Henry Gibson, who died on 14 September 2009.

    Slinging over to Roku
When the Roku (Episode 922) first came out, Leo asked them for a review sample.  The reply was they had already sent one to the gadget reviewer on Leo’s radio show, and wouldn’t send one to Leo.  When Leo learned that Brian Jacquet had left Sling Media to work for Roku, Leo wrote to Brian that he was glad Brian was now in charge.

The day after Dick and Leo talked about the Roku, Dick ran into Brian Jacquet in a “Christmas in September” event.  Brian told Dick he had moved to Roku, and Dick told Brian that Leo had just talked about the Roku the previous day.

    The Reverend Steve Miller's Roku
Regular correspondent and gadget hound Steve Miller has had the Roku since its introduction.  (Are there any gadgets Steve hasn’t bought yet?)  His wife watches Murder, She Wrote (see Episode 919) on Netflix using Roku and they watch a number of BCC shows, but unfortunately the Best of Match Game is not available for streaming.

Steve has also decided to follow Leo’s example to become an ordained minister through
Universal Life Church (see Episode 916).  He should be addressed as the Reverend Steve Miller from now on.

    Episode 927

    Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging
The Motorola S805 is available on Amazon, which now offers the usual packaging or a frustration-free packaging, i.e. without the blister pack (at a slightly higher price).

    A Perfect Match
Kerry Kennedy and her husband Derek Cave listen to the Daily Giz Wiz every day, and they're still married.  In Episode 921, Leo remarked that the episode numbers for the week would match the dates.  Kerry started listening to the show about a year ago and has been catching up with the back catalogue.  She notes that the same thing happened in Episode 51 (on 1 May), and Dick and Leo made the same jokes.

    Episode 1000
Leo confirms that they will be doing Episode 1000 live at CES.  He might be doing other shows there too.

    Episode 926

    Flowers for Madame
Another writing credit in Dick's CV: ventrilooquist Wayland Flowers and Madame.

    Hubba Hubba
Leo betrays his period by saying "Hubba hubba, Raquel Welch."

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs
That was the weather for Dick at the cinema over the weekend, and today's Audible Pick.

    A Page Turner
In an earlier episode, Leo recommended Dan Brown's new book on Audible and called it a real "page turner".  Walter Wakefield asks, Can one call an audible book a page turner?
