Great looking and easy-to-install under counter lights.

I like the look of under counter lights and have used them for years. The only problem is that the normal 20 watt halogen bulb version burns hot and heats the under side of the cabinet they're connected to. That can dry out foods sitting in the cabinet right above them. And since I use them as night lights (to raid the refrigerator in the middle of the night), the bulbs burn out rather quickly. So when I saw the B-right Set of 3 LED Puck Lights on Amazon, I immediately bought a set, You get three puck lights which only consume 6 watts, or 2 watts per bulb. That's a 90% energy saving. Amazon says they're 3000K Warm White. The lamp body is made of very tech-looking aluminum material which conducts out the relatively low heat from the leds and prolongs the product's lifespan, which is rated at 50,000 hours. Installation was easy. Use the included screws to mount them or the 3M stickers which are also included. The kit includes 3 2W LED Puck Lights, 1 Power AC to 12 Volt DC Adapter with inline on/off switch, the Junction box, plus screws and 3M stickers. I paid $16.99; as of 3/16/17 they were $15.99.

Another great find, thanks to an Amazon reviewer:

Although the puck LED lights above are said to be non-dimmable, an Amazon reviewer found this clever 'in-line' dimmer. I bought one on Amazon for under $7.00 and it works great. It inserts right inline between the power cord and the LED's. It took just about 15 seconds to install. Just plug it in and your LED puck lights are dimmable.

Did I take my pills? And how many hours ago did I take them?

If you take pills, or even vitamins, those are probably questions you've asked yourself often. Well, here's an innovative way to help you keep track of when you last took your medications and vitamins. Called Timer Caps, they have a built-in stopwatch that keeps track of exactly how much time passed since it was last opened. The company says it boosts medication adherence by more than 33%. Instead of wondering if you took your pills or not, you'll know just by looking at the cap. It’s easy to use, with NO alarms to program or buttons to press. The patented timer works like an automatic stopwatch, every time you open the cap, the timer resets to zero. When you close the cap, the timer starts counting UP again displaying exactly how many hours and minutes have passed. Some Timer Caps convert between child resistant and non-child resistant. There is a wide variety of Timer Caps and prices. You can get them as low as about $4+ in quantities. The link below takes to the Amazon page that shows many choices.

Here's a nightlight like no other! It's the LED Disco Party Night Light!

The LED Disco Party Night Light plugs into a standard home wall outlet and projects a dazzling light show onto walls and ceilings. The Disco Party Night Light can create an instant party with an explosion of colors! Contains three 1 Watt LED (Light Emitting Diode) light sources and a motor to rotate the transparent prism projection dome top. Projected life is up to 8,000 hours.

The Giz Wiz adds: Some folks on Amazon said the light was smaller than they expected. Actually, I thought it was bit big to be called a nightlight, but the actual dimensions are listed as 2.5 x 2 x 4 inches. And for its size I would say the disco light projections are rather good. But as you'll see in the video, if you really want it light ceilings and walls, they are better choices, one of which is a light cheaper and a lot brigher. But as a gag gift for under $9, this is truly unqiue. It was $8.99 and Amazon Prime as of 3/22/17 here:

Here's the larger disco bulb in the video that I bought on Amazon. It was only $3.29 on 3/23/17: http://amzn.to/2nEESDs

    Toy Pianos Become Digital

At Toy Fair 2017 all of the new Schoenhut toy pianos introduced were digital. They make spinets, uprights, mini-baby grand, and even a twin butterfly piano that looks like a baby grand. The new line is being branded as New Tech Learning. So no more 'tinny' piano sounds from a toy piano, they'll sound like real pianos. If the name is familiar, Schoenhut has been producing toy pianos since 1872. The new line includes 25, 30, 37 and even a 61-key digital model. The new line of digital pianos have USB inputs and headphone jacks. They also can record and playback so kids can hear how they sound. The new pianos range in price from about $100 to $500 or so. Every piano has a place to hold a smart phone or digital tablet to make it easy for the child to follow along as they learn. Schoenhut does not make its own app because a spokesman said they are lots of learning apps out therealready. Someone else at Toy Fair said they heard of a piano learning app lets your child follow a lesson and when they're finished, it emails the parents a score showing how well the kid did. That well I guess, if your child's practicing gets to be too much, you can leave the room and still know how they did. Someone else at the Schoenhut display said that the great thing about piano apps is that they teach kids to play piano by making them think they're playing a game!

    Meet The Zing Blast Box.

Last year Zing introduced Wet Head at Toy Fair 2016. It is a game that can result in the loser getting a 'wet head' when he pulls out the wrong peg on a water-filled 'hard hat' he or she is wearing. This year, the stakes are less dire in their new game Blast Box. To play this game, inflated balloons are placed under the Blast Box, one balloon for each player. Then each player takes a turn with the Blast Box Spinner and must drive that amount of nails (actually plastic pegs) into the BLAST BOX without breaking a balloon underneath. Play continues until only one player remains and becomes the Winner. The game set includes: 1 blast box , 1 hammer, 35 Blast Box plastic nails, a game spinner, and 50 balloons. It sells for under $20, and should be available now.
