The Giz Wiz Show 1639 for Sept 8th 2017, Our 122nd Independent Production.

We're into our third year of Independent Production thanks to our wonderful Patreon supporters! If you'd like to support OMGchad & DickDe in our independent venture (we pay for everything ourselves, including travel) just click the Patreon link at the top of our show web page: http://www.gizwiz.tv/. You can also contribute just once via the PayPal link that's there too. And thank you for doing that! Our show wouldn't exist without our viewer's support, but a bit more support would be a big help.

Forget the selifie stick. This is way more professional.

From Movo Photo comes The Movo Smartphone Video Rig with Stereo Microphone, Grip Handle, & Wrist Strap. It's designed to improve the production value of your smartphone video and said to be perfect for live-streaming, vlogging, interviews, performances and more! Actually, I like this device. As you'll see in the video I wish the handle was a bit longer and there was an LED light to tell you the mic was on, but all else seems good. The universal mounting clamp fits smartphones 2.2" to 3.6" wide including the iPhone 7 Plus and Galaxy Note. Movo says their easy to grip padded handle (removable) assists with stabilizing your video, but there's no gimbal or anything else to assist you. An adjustable wrist strap provides a sense of security by preventing accidental drops. The Stereo Microphone has a selectable 90° or 120° pickup pattern and a frequency response of 35-20k Hz, Signal to Noise: 74dB according to Movo. The kit also includes a foam & a furry windscreen. The mic kit is just under $57.00.

Mini Speaker with Maxi-Sound For It's Size.

Meet the weirdly named Dodocool Mini Wireless Bluetooth Speaker. It not only can stream music from Bluetooth-enabled smartphones, tablets, personal computers or other devices, it does pump out a lot of sound considering it's tiny size. But wait, there's more! With a touch on the multifunction button, you can enjoy hands-free calling with the built in mic --- or take a selfie! Yep, a selfie. Easily pair with 33ft long-range and stable wireless connection and automatically connect to the last-connected device. The all-in-one multifunction button lets you enjoy music / hands-free calling / camera remote shutter functions by a single press. (I didn't try the mic or the self shutter release, but I was really amazed by the sound this little guy puts out. It does meet their description on Amazon: “Providee incredible sound quality performance by a 3W speaker driver for rich deep sound and low harmonic distortion.” Here are a few of the other specs the company provides: Transmitting Frequency: 20Hz - 20kHz. Lithium Polymer Battery 3.7V / 300mAh. Charging time about 3 hours, Music Playing Time: Approx. 2 - 4 hrs. And it's really inexpensive! $12.99 (Black or White Version) And Amazon Prime.

Using a Bluetooth Mic To Record Videos On Your Android Device.

Using a Bluetooth Mic To Record Videos On Your Android Device is not an easy thing as you'll learn in this week's show. But I was finally able to do it, with both an Android app and this Bluetooth microphone/headset. From Aovsy, it's the (cue long Amazon name) Truck Driver Bluetooth Headset Wireless headphones Mic Noise Canceling Headset with Microphone for Call Center, Cell Phone Laptop. And here's a little more of the description with my comments in brackets: Not only is it as a macphone (I'm assuming microphone) to offer you NOISE CANCELLING conversation quality even in a noisy track or office, but also as an earphone to give you HD stereo music sound when MP3 playing. (A bit tricky to reproduce stereo music since there's only one earpiece.) Specially designed headset for VOIP conferences such as Skype, MSN, call center etc, ideal for who requires hands free. Lightweight and flexible headband with padded ear pad, no headache or ear issues after long hours of use. (It's okay comfortable.) Adjusting the Mic distance and the angle to your mouth with the Flexible extended microphone, to achieve the best conversation performance. (True.) Built-in long life battery (2 hours charge time) to support up to 12 hours conversation time or 250 hours standby time, 30 feet distance bluetooth communication between headset and cell phone. $39.00. Watch the video to see how I finally got this mic to work while recording with my camera phone.

Chad's Crappy Corner & His New Theme For September, 2017

For September, Chad's Crappy Corner gadgets will be decided by our loyal Patreon members. They can fill out a short form at Patreon.com suggesting a gadget Chad should buy and use as his “Crappy Gadgets Of The Week”.

Using one of those suggestions this week Chad's gadget is the – get ready for the extra-long Amazon name --- Favormates Portable Wireless Microphone Karaoke, 3-in-1 Bluetooth Handheld KTV MIC Player with Premium Mega Bass Speaker, for Singing Anytime Anywhere, iPhone/Android Smartphone/Tablet CompatibleOut-Preforming our Competition with a Variety of Convenient Features That Will Make Your Next Karaoke Experience One to Remember.

Favormates lists some of the features Multifunctional Control Button. Precise Volume Control- and echo effect control. Heavy-Duty Aluminum. Noise Cancellation –this portable Bluetooth karaoke microphone uses denoiseing technology that filters air flow and wind noise effectively, allowing you to always sing with perfect clarity. $14.97 and Amazon Prime.

Chad's take: Well Chad thinks it's not as rosy as the color of the device. He said things like the combination volume/echo control are confusing and hard to use. Also Chad couldn't understand when the speaker was so wobbly at the end of the device. You'll see and hear it all when you view this week's show. Chad's final comment? Even though it features built in LED's, I give this device a big “meh”.... (So-so.)   --- It's $14.97 and Amazon Prime.

We’re looking for more Viewer Videos!

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show, so here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:

I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.

-

I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.

-

My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.

-

My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.

-

Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll a tiny amount of fame (hopefully), an autographed MAD magazine and a 35-year-old Alfred E. Neuman picture. So that's one more (so-so) reason to send in your video!

IMPORTANT: We'll just shower you with praise for your video if you live outside the US or Canada since we can't afford to send stuff outside of those two places. (Thanks for understanding.)

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv
