Show #1857 For Week of November 14th 2021 Independent Show 335

Wow! We're in year 16 of The Giz Wiz Show! (The first Giz Wiz Show – called The Daily Giz Wiz back then – was February 20th 2006!) If it wasn't for our loyal supporters, the Giz Wiz Show would be gone. If you'd like to support OMGchad & DickDe in our independent venture (we pay for everything ourselves, including travel) just click the Patreon link at the top of our show web page: http://www.gizwiz.tv/

On this week's show two more brand new gadgets from the LIVE Pepcom Holiday Spectacular – but first a Chad Extra!

A while back I talked about the new Soundcore Frames - eyewear plus stereo sound! Chad was very interested in doing a review and Anker, Soundcore's parent company sent him a preview test kit. You'll see Chad's complete report on this week's show. Here's a little bit about Soundcore Frames. The frames feature the company’s patented OpenSurround system, designed with two customized drivers in each arm of the eyeglasses. The main speaker is in front of the user’s ear, with another located behind the ear to help amplify the stereo sound. The frames also feature on-ear wearing detection and will automatically pause audio when the glasses are removed, then turn on when put back on. You can choose from ten different frame styles and can purchase additional frames in an assortment of sizes, shapes and styles including tinted sunglasses, prescription and blue-light filtering options. Chad demos Soundcore’s Pull and Plug quick release system, used to swap out different styles. The frames offer up to 5.5 hours of playback on a single charge as well as the ability to fast charge an additional 1.5 hours of playback with a 10-minute charge. Available now for $199.99 in the US. Additional frame models are available for $49.99 in the US.

We go back to the Pepcom Event earlier this month with something new from Hamilton Beach.

Meet the new Bartesian Premium Cocktail and Margarita MachineThis is something different for Hamilton Beach. It seems they are building the machines and helping with marketing, but it looks like the machine is not branded Hamilton Beach anywhere. But it's very interesting, especially if you entertain a lot, and serve drinks. The Bartesian lets you create endless craft cocktails at home without the need to measure or pour. Just insert a cocktail capsule into your Bartesian drink mixer machine, select your preferred strength and press mix. The system draws the spirit from the appropriate reservoir and mixes your cocktail in seconds. (The drink capsules don't contain alcohol, you supply the machine with that.) The recyclable capsules contain real juice concentrates, bitters and extracts and are dated for freshness. Cocktail capsules and alcohol sold separately. Prices vary, but they're about $3 each. It received 4.7 stars from more than 1800 reviewers as of 11/5/21.

It seems like people are still driving up the sales of vinyl. No, not vinyl siding, vinyl records!

At Pepcom Victrola introduced the Revolution GO, the world’s first portable, rechargeable, Bluetooth record player. Take vinyl records any place you want to listen like a tailgate party or camping trip. For easy carrying, the Revolution GO features a retractable handle and detachable guitar strap, which can be replaced with a guitar strap of your choice for a customizable carrying solution. The removable lid doubles as a display for your five vinyl records of the day. Features a 3-speed belt driven turntable with an Audio Technica moving magnetic cartridge. The integrated Bluetooth stereo speaker lets you easily stream your favorite tunes from your smartphone, tablet, etc. and then their patent-pending Vinyl Stream technology allows you to stream your records to any external Bluetooth speaker. When you’re out and about, the rechargeable lithium battery lasts up to 12 hours of continuous playback. And yes, there's a headphone jack for listening when others are sleeping and even RCA input jacks. MSRP: $199.99.

For his November theme Chad polled our loyal Patreon's and they picked “Cheap Travel Gadgets.

Chad's second cheap travel gadget is the Frelazy Sleeping Bag. First some info from Amazon: Frelaxy Sleeping Bag Liner, XL Travel Sheet & Camping Sheet for Backpacking, Hotel, Hostels & Traveling. Constructed of 100% premium polyester provides extraordinary warmth and comfort for its weight and remains extremely breathable. (100% Money back guarantee if you are not satisfied). Roomy & Comfortable: Measures 84.6" x 33.4" in size offers extra comfort in use, and it includes a 13.7" x 33.4" pillow pocket, Our liners are designed to build a home-feel sleeping system and provide better rest after a long day of outdoor activities. Easy to get in and get out, the bottom zipper can be unzipped to free your feet. The liner can be unzipped and make a blanket. $16.99 w/o zipper -- $19.99 w/zipper. Chad ordered his w/o the zipper which seems to be a good waya to go as many reviewers didn't like the zipper.

And Chad's take? Chad likes this. You can use it when you travel and wonder how clean surfaces are like on a plane or train. He said you could even use it along the bedding in a hotel, to put a barrier between their bedding and yours. And at $16.99 it was very inexpensive.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.
-
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
-
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.
-
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
-
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you'll also get an autographed 38+ year old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live outside of US, I can autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res copy if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it's a copy. We've tested it out and fans say they look terrific! If you submitting warehouse videos for a second, third time, etc., you'll get the current issue of MAD as a thank you.

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv

Email of the week!

On last week's show we talked about an app called “What3Words”. The company divided the world into 10' X 10' boxes and gave each one of them 3 words as identifiers. It's a way to find someone even if they're on the beach or in the park where there is no address. A few days we received this email from Mark Heil about What 3 Words:

FYI, the nation of Mongolia adopted What 3 Words for it's post office to use for sending and receiving mail five years ago.
