Giz Wiz Show 1726 May 8, 2019 Independent Show #208

Wow! The Giz Wiz Show started year 13 overall & our 5th year of Independent Production! (First Giz Wiz show was February 20th, 2006.) Thanks to our wonderful Patreon supporters we continue on! If it wasn't for them, the Giz Wiz Show would be gone. If you'd like to support OMGchad & DickDe in our independent venture (we pay for everything ourselves, including travel) just click the Patreon link at the top of our show web page: http://www.gizwiz.tv/.  You can also contribute just once via the PayPal link that's there too. Thank you for doing that! Our show wouldn't exist without our viewer's support, but a bit more support would be a big help. Thanks from OMGchad & DickDe!

On this week's show, three more fun gadgets, but not games this time from the Time To Play Magazine Spring Preview

Kodak offers the World's Largest 15,300 piece puzzle.

This is the Jigsaw Puzzler's Dream (or maybe nightmare?) You will never believe it until you see it!!! Kodak Premium Puzzles Presents: THE WORLDS LARGEST PUZZLE!!! This puzzle is the most amazing puzzle you will ever see!! The puzzle is made of high quality board and snaps together piece after piece. The colors and pictures are the most crisp, realistic images ever created in a puzzle! AND YES it really has 51,300 pieces and is 28.5 FOOT by 6.25 Foot. This is a must have for the puzzle lover in your life. Great way to bring family or friends together and do this amazing larger than life puzzle! Each image is in a separate bag. There are 27 bags. Each puzzle is 1900 pieces. Then they all go together to make this larger than life puzzle. So work on it a little or tackle the whole thing at once. Or my thought is to empty all 27 bags of puzzle parts on the floor and try to make the entire puzzle at once!

An e-bike that fits in a backpack? Meet the Smacircle.

Yes an e-bike small and light enough to fits in a backpack. That's what Smacircle says they've created with their model S1. And people are really interested. On Indiegogo their project raised nearly $560,000.00. It's built with carbon fiber and although it weighs only about 16 pounds it's strong enough to carry a weight of up to 220lbs/ 100kg. It folds to fit into a standard backpack with the tallest dimension of the S1 being 19 inches. Or you can carry it easily by holding onto the saddle. The brushless DC Motor is said to reach a top speed of 15 mph (legal limit in most places) and it has a range of about 20 miles depending on road surface and speed. The S1 e-bike automatically connects with your mobile phone when the rider is within range of the S1. When the security lock is activated, the accelerator becomes deactivated. With thesecurity lock, no one else can unlock/ride the ebike except you. Custom solid damping tires so there's no need to worry about punctures, or inflating. Tires are only 8” in diameter so I assume smoother roads are the best. A front light and sidelights ensures you are visible at night to traffic and pedestrians. The company says it's 100% street legal. Folded, it's approximately 7.5" X 11 3/4" X 19.3". Open: Height: 33.85 inches, Width: 37.40 inches -which I guess is the length of the S1, and Depth: 18.50 inches, probably the width of handlebars. Presale price is $999.00 till the end of May 2019. Then $1399.00. According their website, delivery is in June.

Chad's Crappy Corner & His Second Gadget For His New May Theme!

The theme our Patreons picked for May is “Cheap Entertaining Gadgets”. And Chad's second Cheap Entertaining gadget is Magic Writing Slime.

Chad picked up his package of Magic Writing Slime at Walmart. It was on sale for about $5. The company calls this slime: “Putty taken to the next level!" And explains it this way:  Use the laser writer to create messages, draw a picture or make designs. Your imagination knows no limits with Writing Putty. Write your name and secret messages. Roll it out and the writing disappears. Create endless messages! Online it was $7.44 on Amazon.

And Chad's take? Chad liked this putty-like slime. It's fun and you even see how it works while it's still in the package. As Chad explains and shows us in his video, the Magic Laser really isn't a laser, it's just a small LED light. But it does let you write on the slime! You can't write too much because you need to make big letters for them to be read. And you have to be quick because they seem to disappear quite quickly. But Chad liked his magic slime and actually doesn't consider it really 'crappy' at all. Watch this show and decide for yourself.

Dick's Gadget Warehouse & How to Submit Your Viewer Video On Any Gadget!

This a very different “Dick's Gadget Warehouse”. I actually bought this gadget, the JBL Smartbase,  just to record this spot for the Giz Wiz. As you learn in the video this well-built gadget from a famous company is selling for up to 90% off the MSRP. Here's a bit about it: The JBL Smartbase Wireless won an Innovation Award at CES 2016 and came into the marketplace with a price of $199.95. It's described on Amazon as a Perfect Bluetooth Dashboard Solution for Old Cars and Smartphone Navigation. It allows you to enjoy JBL quality sound wirelessly via Bluetooth. Adds ADAS (advanced driver assist system) functions like LDW (lane departure warning), FCW (front collision warning) and Traffic Signal Recognition into vehicles with minimum cost and no modifications to the vehicle. Patented Noise Canceling Technology uses beam forming, echo cancellation and noise suppression. Voice Logic minimizes background and wind noise to deliver superior voice quality as well as the highest speech recognition accuracy. The JBL Smartbase supports both Siri and Google Now. (Through your smartphone.) Qi Compliant Wireless Charging. Sounds good if you want to update an old car, but boy did gadget not go over well.

********************************
We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show, so here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.
-
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
-
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.
-
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
-
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you'll also get an autographed 35-year-old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live, I canemail an autographed to you Alfred E. Neuman photo if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it's a copy. We've tested it out and fans say they look terrific!

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv

Letter of the week:

From Kevin Dilworth via Facebook:

Dick- Now here's an interesting gadget!

https://www.facebook.com/VT/videos/2240559939334712/

From the Giz Wiz: I can't find this on sale anywhere, so I guess it was an April Fool's gadget.
