Giz Wiz Show 1727 May 16, 2019 Independent Show #209

Wow! The Giz Wiz Show started year 13 overall & our 5th year of Independent Production! (First Giz Wiz show was February 20th, 2006.) Thanks to our wonderful Patreon supporters we continue on! If it wasn't for them, the Giz Wiz Show would be gone. If you'd like to support OMGchad & DickDe in our independent venture (we pay for everything ourselves, including travel) just click the Patreon link at the top of our show web page: http://www.gizwiz.tv/.  You can also contribute just once via the PayPal link that's there too. Thank you for doing that! Our show wouldn't exist without our viewer's support, but a bit more support would be a big help. Thanks from OMGchad & DickDe!

On this week's show, three gadgets the Giz Wiz found at Tech Day NY, said to be the largest 'start up' exhibition in the US.  (Javits Center.)

Our first new start-up gadget is Blue Quench billed as "The World's Fastest Way To Chill Beverages On The Go! Here's what the companys about their product: Drinks today are very often not sold at optimal temperatures. You stop at a convenience store to buy a cold beverage, only to pop it open and discover it's lukewarm. Then there is the LIFO issue—Last In, First Out. It means when the cooler is restocked, the new, warm drinks are added to the front, while the cooler ones are stuck in the back. So, we came up with a better way to cool beverages. Introducing RotoQuench Technology. Think of swirling a cup of iced tea. As you do it, you’re instantly removing heat from the beverage due to the thermal properties of ice. Our RotoQuench Technology™ does the same thing at a bulk scale and does it to the liquid inside the can or bottle. How? We take ice and water, along with your favorite canned or bottled beverages, and spin them really fast (500 RPMs to be exact). This process maximizes the surface area of the liquid touching the outside of the can which removes the heat from inside the can or bottle in just seconds. MSRP $479.00, but there was supposed to be a special price on Indiegogo, but for some reason, it looks like the campaign has not started yet, but you can sign up at their website for updates.

One Motor - to power a lot of modes of transportation.

This is a very interesting idea. Have One Motor - (battery operated electric motor) that attaches to Bikes, Kick Bikes, Scooters & even Bike share bike. The company says it mounts almost anywhere: front wheel or rear wheel. Power and speed limits are adjustable via phone app. The 750 Watt motor can hit speeds up to 28 mph, but is limited in some place to what's allowed by local laws. The complete system weighs in at about 4.5 pounds. The magnetic motor module can be installed or removed in seconds, and there's no need to disconnect the battery. The modular battery backs use a quick-release mount so it should work on any bike or scooter frame. The retractable battery cable has an easy magnetic connector. Locks at any length up to 32". Wireless pedal assist sensor snaps on magnetically and attaches to motor module magnetically for transport. Battery offers up to 10 hours of use and 10 hours standby. Charges via USB. Optional smart wireless controller clips on instantly and offers high res OLED displays key operating info. The design looks well thought out, but the price I think will shy away many people. It's $1250.00, but the spokesperson said they hope to lower that as sales pick up.

Meet The Silent Beacon

Here's info from the company about this new device, the Silent Beacon: You can store any number you want! This can include 911, loved ones or any other emergency personnel phone number via the Silent Beacon App. Also type in the number you select as your Call Contact. We made the Silent Beacon with 2 indented buttons to avoid false alerts. In the event you still hit the device it will vibrate and red LEDs will flash. If this does not get your attention it will also call your stored emergency contact allowing you to hear the Silent Beacon ring. You will need a Bluetooth 4.0 smartphone, tablet or other device that works with our Application. MSRP: $89.99 for the white version, higher for the three color version. There is no monthly fee or other charge since you are using your own smartphone for getting and receiving alerts, etc. -- Chad & I discuss the actual use of this device which you'll hear in the show.

Chad's Crappy Corner & Another Gadget For His May Theme!

The theme our Patreons picked for May is “Cheap Entertaining Gadgets”. And Chad's second Cheap Entertaining gadget is Slime Factory Slime Food.

Wait until you see this stuff. Not only Chad, but almost everyone in the chatroom called these Slime Food Boxes “the crappiest of the crappy”. Chad brought three of them at Walmart for $5.88 each. He bought Slime Food Mac & Cheese, Slime Food Spaghetti, and Chili Slime Play Food. Well, I won't spoil the fun, but watch this episode to be totally turned off to playing with this stuff! On Amazon, where the price is really high, like $11 a box, the description of the product is really brief: Looks and feels Real! Not edible!” Problem is, a very young kid might actually try to eat it. The boxes like pretty real, it's what inside the box that's a 100% disappointment!

I haven't shopped at this place but they have the same Slime Factory Food Slime boxes Chad bought- all 3 for about $17 as of 5/18/19: https://tinyurl.com/ChadsCrappyFood

********************************
We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show, so here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.
-
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
-
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.
-
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
-
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you'll also get an autographed 35-year-old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live, I canemail an autographed to you Alfred E. Neuman photo if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it's a copy. We've tested it out and fans say they look terrific!

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv
