Three Fun Gadgets from The Time To Play Magazine's Spring Preview.

I have awful eye/hand coordination, so when Ben Stack asked me to try his Precision RBS blaster, I figured it would be an embarrassment. But, surprise, it wasn't. Let me explain what Precision RBS is. RBS stands for Rubber Band System. And the Precision is just that. It's easy to aim the device and the rubber band pretty much goes exactly where you want it to. Ben describes why his device is so accurate in the video I shot at this Spring preview. I asked about a safety issue with rubber bands and asked Bed to fire a few directly at me from about ten feet away. I could feel them hit my skin, but they didn't hurt. And the reason for that is also explained in the video. (Read the warning/caution on the box and worried parents could tell kids to wear googles when they play.) There are three RBS launchers available. The lightweight Talos holds up to 20 rubber bands in two sizes and launches up to 30 feet. It's under $15. The Chiron has storage for up to 100 rubber bands and is described as a quick-loader. It also separates into two completely different RBS Shooters, so you get two shooters for the price of one. That's under $20. The big boy in the line is the Hyperion which offers extended range and looks pretty impressive! It can hold three different band sizes and has extra side storage. Ben showed me the “Burst” feature which can launch 14 bands at once! That's under $25.00 All are recommended for age 8 and up. They have a Spring release so should be available soon. Right now they are on Amazon but for ridiculously high prices; like four times the suggested retail price. ToysRUs has one model already at a discount price, as of 5/1/16.

We're not done with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles yet.

They have new movie coming summer 2016 called “Out of the Shadows”. And along with that, new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles merchandise is coming too. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Skateboarding Mikey from Jakks Pacific is a real fun one for kids and just about everybody else. It's bigger than most remote control toys which makes it more impressive as it moves. Designed for kids, ages 4 and up, it's a nicely detailed Turtle. The remote control is not terribly complicated with just two buttons, plus the on/off switch. At first you might be surprised to find one of the buttons is forward, but the other button is not reverse. That's because when Mikey is going forward you can change his direction with the “spin” button. Mikey cam move forward, do one-fort spins, and more. If he falls (okay, wipes out!) you can help him get up again with a hit taps on the spin button. But wait, there's more! I wondered what the little speaker in the remote control was for. Turns out there are more than 20 Turtles sayings to add to the fun. Batteries? Some are included if I remember correctly. The remote requires two AA's and the skateboard unit takes 5 C batteries, which I believe are included. (But they're probably 'try me' batteries which won't last long.) Mikey will be $60 and he'll be exclusively at Walmart starting about August, 2016. Here's the link, which says 'out of stock' as of 5/1/16. That will change once the product starts to ship.

Put a lot of bounce in your step!

If the number of kids waiting to try the Vuly Thunder at the Time To Play Magazine event is any indication, kids love trampolines. According the company Thunder is the world's strongest trampoline. (You'll see them lower a car on one in the video.) Designed by an all-Australian team of industrial design and safety experts, Thunder has the best bounce of any recreational trampoline in existence. Thunder is the first soft-edged trampoline in the world to use Leaf Springs instead of coil springs to power your bounce. But wait, there's more! Thunder's Safety Net is so well put together you can crash into it all you like. You won't get grazes, hurt by the net poles, or fall down towards the frame as you would on cheaper brands. And finally, Vuly says their the unique shape of their strong dual-frame design means you'll feel more power in every bounce. There are many models on their website starting at about $550, but the Thunder series shown in the video starts at $1599.00

Chad's Crappy Corner and a brand new theme for May.

Chad's theme for May, as voted on by our beloved patreons, is Grill/BBQ gadgets. Chad starts  the month of May with two BBQ gadgets on this weeks' show:

The AR-15 Gun Lighter

Here's what Amazon says about it: The AR15 Barbeque Lighter is an exact replica. It has been licensed by the NRA. An unusual gift for anyone that likes outdoor grilling or collecting guns. It's easy to use and conveniently refillable. A great conversation starter at your next barbeque! *Please Note* - All Gibson lighters are shipped free of butane & lighter fluid. Both substances are considered a hazmat material and are assigned a shipping cost of ~$13.00 in addition to normal rates. All Gibson lighters are easily refillable and instructions are included. $12.99 and free shipping, but not Amazon Prime. (Price as of 5/2/16)

And Chad's take? Chad bought this gadget because he felt 'where else but in Texas would you find something so elaborate to just make a little flame when you operated it'. He said he's probably hide it someplace because he no actual use for it. As you'll see in the video, Chad found it a huge Texas-sized outdoor gadget haven.

No longer available on Amazon.

And Chad's second gadget of the week: The Rome Double Burger Griller

great way to cook 1/3 lb burgers, salmon patties & chicken two at a time over a firepit or campfire without the hassles of using a large grill grate. Fill the cast iron cooking cavity with meat, close the lid and hold over roaring fire. The slotted cast iron simulates grill. The slotted cast iron simulates grill grate cooking and allows excess fat to drip away from the meat. Cooking surface is 8'' x 4''. Overall length 28''. Crome plated steel rods with wood handles. Made by outdoor cookware specialist, Rome Industries. Cooks 2 burgers over a campfire or firepit without a grill surface. 8'' x 4'' cooking surface, 28'' overall length. cast iron construction. The original since 1964. Made by outdoor cookware specialist Rome Ind. $28.71 and free shipping, but not Amazon Prime. (Price as of 5/2/16)

And Chad's take? Chad liked this device. He said he would be great to make burgers over a fire without needing a grill. He pointed out that if you liked to bbq garden burgers which often fall apart, this would be an ideal solution. Although he bought these at a retail store, they're available on Amazon too.

Dick's Gadget Warehouse & How to Submit Your Viewer Video.

The link to our Gadget Warehouse viewer video of the week arrived with this email:

Hi Dick and Chad,

I just wanted to share this gadget that I picked up while on holiday in Tokyo, Japan. This gadget is a hybrid of a new gadget and something that belongs to the gadget warehouse. :)

Among video game hobbyists, there is a popular trend towards "retro gaming", where people do their best to play old, original games on original hardware. I happened upon a shop in Akihabara (Tokyo's famous electronics/hobby district) that specializes in retro gaming, and this is where I picked up the FC Dual.

The FC Dual is a video game console that allows you to play Nintendo NES and Super NES games, plus a whole lot more! I just had a trippy time playing my original 30+ year old games on this brand new console. (And for the geeks out there, this is a purely hardware console -- no software emulation at all!)

Hope you got a kick out of this!

Sincerely, Ton-ton Manila, Philippines

P.S. In case you use this video on the show, would it be ok if you send the Mad Magazine to my cousin who lives in the US? Thanks!

                     **************

We’re looking for more Viewer Videos!

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show, so here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:

I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.

-

I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.

-

My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.

-

My Favorite Gadget of All Time: Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.

-

Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll a tiny amount of fame (hopefully), an autographed MAD magazine and a 35-year-old Alfred E. Neuman picture. So that's one more (so-so) reason to send in your video! IMPORTANT: We'll just shower you with praise for your video if you live outside the US or Canada since we can't afford to send stuff outside of those two places. (Thanks for understanding.)

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv

Letter of the week:

Steve Davidson game shows & Chad on Brushwood

You mentioned in episode 1567 about how many game shows Match Game did in a week. Steve Harvey recently told his daytime studio audience that he does all 200 shows for the upcoming season in 8 weeks during the summer. This works out to be 5 shows per day, 5 days a week for 8 weeks.

Also, Chad claimed that he was never on camera with Brian Brushwood except for the Indonesia thing. He is wrong. Here is a link to a video he is a part of:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gb_DOpJYeiU

(Scam School episode The Hidden Code Behind 'Sticks' remix episode published December 21, 2015)

I'm not sure this is the correct place to email this, so please send back something letting me know you received this, or I'll try somewhere else to send it. Thanks.
