                             +++++++++++++++++

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show.

Here’s what we’re looking: Your home shoot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:

I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.

I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professionally made videos please. It makes us look even worse than we are.

My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.

My Favorite Gadget of All Time: Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be something you just bought too.

Post them on YouTube and send our producer, Jason, the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz, you will be rewarded with some sort of prize. Like an autographed MAD magazine and maybe even some piece of crap. So that's one more (so-so) reason to send in your video!

All show submissions go to gizwiz@twit.tv

Giz Wiz Letter of the week.

Your Name: Yukesh Kumar

Subject: Tiny gadget turns smartphone into laser pointer.

Message: Dear Dick and Chad,

This is my first time writing to the Gizwiz. I was just surfing the net when I

came across this tiny gadget. Let me begin by saying I do not own this gadget

nor do I want to because it doesn't cater to any needs I might have. However, I

can see the appeal of this to just about anyone who has to pit on presentations

etc. on a regular basis.

Anyways, I love the show and look forward to each new one. Keep up the

subaverage work. (Joking, of course)

The Giz Wiz, Week of March 5th, 2014, Show 1458

Three Gadgets from The Luxury Technology Show in NYC.

As I entered the Luxury Technology Show I was stopped in my tracks when I saw one of the most awesome work-environment chairs I had ever seen. Called the Emperor XL, it is one awesome piece of tech. The scorpion-like stable steel structure has tilting capabilities, integrated 5.1 audio system, LED lighting, light therapy, and even an ionic air filtering system. Everything is touch screen controlled; designed for high-end home and office hardcore computer users. As WMElab puts it: “The Emperor offers functionality that enables the user to experience unprecedented comfort and quasi total immersion through strategically positioned monitors, audio system and accessories. The result is a complete computer office, ergonomically optimized, with a minimal footprint that improves overall performance and productivity.” And the price of the Emperor XL? MSRP: $21,500 US. Not enough features for you? Available options include: Rotating pedestal, Laptop tray, Massage, Side tables, even more (two) monitor mounts. If all this is too much for you, MWElab has office environment chairs that start at about $6,000. This chair not hae enough features for you? They also have a more deluxe model that cost almost $50,000!

Up to 40 mile range at up to 20 MPH on one charge.

You wouldn’t run a Vespa inside a building, but the folks at Jetson bikes did start their electric bike, which has a similar look. But their bike makes no noise and has zero emissions, zero carbon and zero pollution. The Jetson is equipped with  latest advanced Lithium Ion battery technology. It features a 500W motor, shock absorbers and heavy-duty disc brake system. An LCD digitally enhanced display illuminates current speed, voltage left on battery, and whether any lights or blinkers are active. The included lithium-ion battery powers the Jetson bike up to 20 miles per hour with a 40-mile range per charge. It only takes 4 hours to recharge via a standard 110V electrical outlet. So if you drive your Jetson to the office, you can simply remove the battery and charge it while you work. If you want some exercise you can recharge your Jetson by pedaling your bike. The CEO of the company told me the Jetson E-Bikes are delivered 100% fully assembled, so there's no setup time involved. Ride your Jetson as soon as you get it. (And unpack it, of course!) They’re available for $1799.00 online.

Make Drinking Water From Air!

When I saw a sign at the Luxury Technology Show that said, “Water from Air”, I had to stop by. It turns out there are over 8016 cubic miles of water ever present in the atmosphere that we can take advantage of to produce clean drinking water. So Untapped Water Systems came up with the AIR X, an easy, safe way to draw water out of the atmosphere right in your home or office. Its advanced air filtration technology also removes humidity, particulates, bacteria and microbes from the air, replacing an air purifier and dehumidifier. Condensed liquid water is then stored in Untapped Water Systems' revolutionary Antibacterial Reservoir System. According to the company, this industry leading innovation provides the highest level of protection from bacteria of any water machine currently on the market. Through the use of Ultraviolet Light and other proprietary technologies, Untapped Water Systems is able to provide 99.999% bacteria free water storage. The Air X requires no plumbing, no bottles, and no jugs. And the water can be cooled or heated on demand. Cost will be about $1600 to $1800 for a system. It’s expected to be available in the fall of 2014. You can find a lot more about this system on the company website. They expect to redo their website soon to include that portable water purifier I showed in the video.

Chad's Crappy Corner!

In keeping with Chad’s “food theme gadgets” for March, Chad showed us his new Spin Chill. Originally a Kickstarter project, Spin Chill clips onto the top of a container that you want to be chilled. It has a flexible rubber cap that slip right over the edge of a soda or beer can. It is also designed to hold soda or beer bottles. Chad placed it on top of a can of coke, and then placed it on a pan of ice cubes. He clicked the switch and we watched Spin Chill spin the can. The company says it chills down 20 times faster than just leaving a bottle or can laying on the ice. The company also provided these chilling times: Beer/Soda cans: Under 1 minute Glass Bottles: 3-4 minutes Plastic Bottles: 3-4 minutes Wine/liquor: 5-7 minutes. After Chad used the Spin Chill I was surprised to see the soda did not explode or shoot out of the can when he opened it. By cooling drinks this way, drinks stay fully carbonated because they’re not watered down with ice. Spin Chill fits beer cans/bottles, soda cans/bottles, and wine bottles. Chad likes Spin Chill so much, he's keeping it! (As opposed to sending it to some unlucky viewer who sent us a video we used.) Cost is $29.99, plus S&H.
