Show #1835 Thursday June 10th, 2021 Independent Show 314

Wow! We're in year 16 of The Giz Wiz Show! (The first Giz Wiz Show – called The Daily Giz Wiz back then – was February 20th 2006!) If it wasn't for our loyal supporters, the Giz Wiz Show would be gone. Meet Two Of My Newest Fans...

Minluck inside the bigger Figrol Neckfan. This was written during a really bad heat wave in NYC. Day after day of 90+ degree weather and high humidity. Air conditioning in my apartment and Gizneyland studio kept me comfortable there, but I need something for the outdoors. A quick check of Amazon and I found "neck fans"! Giz Wiz Show covered some mini fans you wore around your neck a couple of years ago, but these look way more sleek. They're called 'bladeless fans' because you don't see any moving part; everything is the built into the case. I bought two of them. The specs looked pretty similar, but the design of each was fairly different. Here's what they have in common and you can watch the video to see what they look like when worn. And I'll also offer my opinion of each. They both claim a 2400 mAh rechargeable battery. The Figrol uses USB-C, and the Minluk, micro USB. They both list the weight as 260g, which is about 9.2oz. On my postage scale, the larger Figrol weighed 9.5 oz and the Minluk weighed 9.1 oz. They both have 3 speeds and I think they both do a fairly decent job of keeping you cool. I like the look of the Figrol a bit more, but it's bigger and weighs a bit more. You can judge for yourself when you see both in the video. They retail for about $24 to $26 each.

Love The AeroPress - Here's The AeroPress Go - Coffee Maker For Travel.

Popular with coffee enthusiasts worldwide including the Giz Wiz and TwiT's Chief TwiT Leo Laporte, is the AeroPress coffee maker. It use a fast brewing process (similar to French Press) to make a smooth, full flavored cup of coffee. With the AeroPress & the newer AeroPress Go paper Micro-filter, there's no grit in your cup and clean up takes seconds. Plus, you get 350 filters in the box with the Go! Also with the "Go", the company says you can make 1 to 3 cups of American coffee per pressing in about a minute. Cold brew coffee per pressing in about two minutes and it can brew espresso style coffee for use in lattes & cappuccinos. You'll see in the video how compact it is, with everything needed fitting in the mug you brew into and drink from. In hotels you can make hot hot water with one of those portable travel immersion water heater devices, or brew a really nice cold brew coffee when you have no access to water. When packed up, the AeroPress Go is great when traveling, camping, boating or otherwise on the go. About $32.00.

Chad's Crappy Corner & his second gadget for his new June Theme.

It's gadget #2 for Chad's new gadget theme for June as picked by our loyal Patreon members. The winning theme was “Cheap Gadgets from Alibaba”.

And Chad's second cheap gadget is described by the AliExpress website like this: Magic Floating Ring Magic Tricks Play Ball Pen Floating Effect of Invisible Suit Powerful Props magic flying Trick.”  The description isn't much more help: Left Magic Floating Ring Magic Tricks Play Ball Pen Floating Effect of Invisible Suit Powerful Magic Props 81401.

And Chad's take? Chad said their were no instructions with the kit, but that there was a note: “Instructions online”. Chad went to the online instructions which turns out to be a short video a man performing some of the tricks in the kit, with no explanation of what he's doing, or how you could do it. But Chad said it's cheap, really cheap. The kit was $1.50 plus $1.92 shipping, which took about a month. Among the crappiest of Chad's Crappy Corner.

Dick's Gadget Warehouse & How To Submit Your Video And Win An Autographed MAD Magazine.

There's no viewer video this week because we're pretty much run out of viewer videos. So send in your video! See how below. So it's A Gadget Warehouse "What The Heck Is It?" From Ten Years Ago!

Do you know what that is. I covered on The Giz Wiz ten years ago. Amazingly, it's still for sale.

It's the Dreamfarm Tapi Faucet Fountain - Home Squeeze Drinking Water Fountain. Here's how the company describes it: Need a quick drink, but don't want to dirty up a cup? The Tapi from Dreamfarm is the solution. It connects to almost any tap with a straight spout. Leave it on, and run water as normal whenever you like. When you want to get a quick drink, simply squeeze the bottom, and the water flows out in an arc from the top like a drinking fountain! The Tapi is especially convenient for kids. The company adds: Tapi is hygienic and safe. Water-safe rubber is healthy and won't affect taste. Top rack dishwasher safe. MSRP $5.95.

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.
-
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
-
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.
-
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
-
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you'll also get an autographed 38+ year old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live outside of US, I can autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res copy if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it's a copy. We've tested it out and fans say they look terrific! If you submitting warehouse videos for a second, third time, etc., you'll get the current issue of MAD as a thank you.

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv
