The Giz Wiz Show 1680, June 22nd 2018 Independent Show #163

The Giz Wiz Show is in it's13th year, and it's 4th year of Independent Production! (The first show was February 20th, 2006.) That's thanks to our wonderful Patreon supporters! If it wasn't for them, the Giz Wiz Show would be gone. If you'd like to support OMGchad & DickDe in our independent venture (we pay for everything ourselves, including travel) just click the Patreon link at the top of our show web page: http://www.gizwiz.tv/. You can also contribute just once via the PayPal link that's there too. And thank you for doing that! Our show wouldn't exist without our viewer's support, but a bit more support would be a big help. (As we can say honestly “asking for more Patreon supporters is not to make money”, it helps us lose less money doing The Giz Wiz. Thanks!)

And now onto the show with a look at CE Week 2018 in NYC.

Meet the Air Selfie2 Flying Camera

Air Selfie calls itself “The Only Portable HD Flying Camera”. It connects with your smartphone (iOS or ANDROID) and it lets you take HD photos or videos of youself, your friends, and your life from the sky. Its turbo fan propellers can thrust up to 20 meters, or about 65 feet into the air to capture wide view photos and videos. 65 feet up sure beats any selfie stick I know of! Built in is an anti-vibration shock absorber and 12 MP camera. There's also 16GB of built-in memory. It's built of aircraft grade aluminum and ultra-light at 2.8 oz or 80.3 gr. The company keeps saying 'Say hello to the future of selfies', but frankly at a bar, or a party, I think using a selfie stick beats flying this around the room. But in a park, backyard, ballroom, etc., this should offer some really unique shots and get a heck of a lot of attention. It's $199.99 with a leather case, and there's model with a matching powerbank coming soon for $249.99.

You could think of this as 'sunglasses' for your iPhone.

With the bright summer sun shinning for the exact few months, (mostly during the daylight hours) this is the ideal time to learn about the new myFlipShade from the folks at myCharge. The myFlipShade is an iPhone screen shield, privacy protector, and stand all-in-one. The shade reduces the sun's glare on your iPhone, making the myFlipShade ideal for use in the sunshine, to increase the visibility of your iPhone screen. Not only does the myFlipShade work as a screen shield, but it also works as a privacy screen and is ideal for crowded spaces such as public transport. Turn the accessory into a vertical or horizontal phone stand by folding it flat and adjusting for use. For now there is only an iPhone version. You could use it on an Android phone, but it will most likely cover your camera lens, which is not a good thing! Comes in black dot, marble white and and colorful pineapple. $9.99.

Compatibility: iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus

Chad's Crappy Corner & Another Gadget For His June Theme!

Chad's third Cheap Summer Fun gadget is the 16 Slick Bubble Tricks kit.

Here's what Amazon says about it: Are you ready to become a bubble Wizard? slick tricks bubble magic 16 trick kit has everything you need! you can bounce bubbles, shape bubbles, stretch bubbles, trap bubbles, connect bubbles, and many more tricks. These bubbles will blow your mind! Our slick tricks bubble magic 16 tricks kit is designed to be easy to use and includes all the instructions, solutions, and pieces you need. Tricks require the included slick tricks special solutions to work properly. Ages 5 years+ $12.45. (Amazon prices can change at any time.)

And Chad's take: Chad's bubble was burst when he started playing with this kit. The worst part is that the company uses the same instruction booklet for the 16 Tricks Bubble set as their 20 Master Bubble set. And Chad felt the larger kit had way more fun stuff. You'll see what he was able to do with this kit when he demos them on this show, but Chad recommends you buy the larger kit for more bubble fun. It was $6 more at the time of recording this how. The bigger Little Kids kit is on the same page as the link below, or was, when this was written. All-in-all, Chad says this kit fits more in the “crappy” corner.

Dick's Gadget Warehouse & How to Submit Your Viewer Video.

This week, I found one of my favorite old time 'mail order gems' at the warehouse. Here's the original ad from 1999!

This LCD watch also has an analog face. Learn about that 'special' analog face in this week's video:

+++++++++++++++++++++++

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show, so here's what we're looking for!

Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:

I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.

-

I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.

-

My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.

-

My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.

-

Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you'll also get an autographed 35-year-old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live, I canemail an autographed to you Alfred E. Neuman photo if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it's a copy. We've tested it out and fans say they look terrific!

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv
