This innovative flashlight has dual high power LED lights with a built-in rechargeable battery in it. But wait, there's a big secret behind the protective glass on the front of this flashlight. It houses a built-in video/still camera. That's right, while holding this flashlight you can shoot HD videos or high resolution JPG photos, complete with built-in time-stamp functions. The flashlight has 3 buttons: light on/off, take photo or shoot video. Although the company says the buttons are not labeled so as not to give anything away, there is a small red light indicator that confirms recording/standby modes. Okay, so this is not a flashlight for everybody. But the company says it's a useful safety item for documenting evidence (e.g. for discretely recording damage in the event of a car accident to protect against any fraudulent lawsuits), or for security purposes (e.g. for police officers, security guards, home inspectors, on-the-field works, and other related personnel), or for capturing adventurous moments (e.g. for outdoor camping enthusiasts). Specs: 180 Lumens. Lens: 120 degree diagonal view. DVR res 1280 X 720 - 25 frames per sec. Photos: 1280 X 720 jpg. Storage: Micro SD, Max 32 GB - card not included. Battery 1600 mAh, Li-battery. Flashlight only: 4.2 hours. Video only: 10 hours recording. Flashlight+video: 3.2 hours. The MSRP is $150.00. I don't see it on Amazon, but there's a link below where I saw it on Ebay for $100.

Giz Wiz Video - shot this without checking instructions first. I think the video quality is excellent. Sound might be off, but it would pick up the voices of folks in the 'beam' of the flashlight: https://youtu.be/2C1Cjw16x8k

Water Pik says Brushing Alone Is Not Enough.

I've used a Water Pik for years, so I was happy to find out about their new Complete Care 5.0 system. It combines their traditional Water Flosser with their new Sonic Toothbrush. I like that now brushing and flossing is possible with one single convenient device. That saves counter or sink space and it only uses a single power outlet. Water Pik says the new 5.0 is perfect for anyone with braces or implants, crowns, bridges, and veneers. I've been using my Complete Care 5.0 for about two months now and I'm very happy with it. It's easy to fill the water reservoir which has a cover, something my old unit didn't have. You get 5 water flossing tips and I like the On/Off water switch right on the handle. (That's another on the base unit.) Water Pik says you can add your favorite mouthwash if you like. Like my old sonic tooth brush, the 5.0 has a 2-Minute Timer with a four 30-second quadrant pacer. It ships with a travel case too. But wait, there's more! There's also a bright recharge indicator display right on the brush. 120VAC/60Hz/For Use In North America Only. MSRP $99.99. It doesn't seem to be in wide distribution yet and there are no reviews on Amazon as of 6/9/16.

60 LED's!! And an unexpected surprise.

Like LED's? Then you just might like the illumi Tower. It has a 2400 mAh rechargeable battery you can have a bright LED light just about anywhere you need light. 60 bright white LED's, can turn any area into a well-lit space, as opposed to using a flashlight when you just pinpoint one small spot. There's a high/low setting where the high mode put out an very decent 720 Lumens. To fully charge the illumi Tower, plug it into a standard power outlet for 8-10 hours. The battery should last 3-6 hours depending on the brightness setting. There's even an emergency mode: when plugging in with the included AC charging adapter, the light will stay off until it detects a power outage or it's unplugged. It will illuminate as long as the 3-way switch is either in the High or Low setting. BEWARE though, that also means you cannot have the light on while its plugged in. It includes a built-in carrying handle, kickstand for hands-free use, and mounting hardware. It can be used horizontally, vertically, or mounted in a suitable place. Great for camping, auto work, emergency lighting in the home, closet lighting, and more. I don't know about quality control however. My illumi Tower came with a surprise. As you'll see in the video, my tower has an intermittent short circut that made the light blink when it was plugged in and I jiggled the AC cord. Dimensions: 16.5in x 3in x 2in. It may not still be on sale, but I paid $20.00 at www.pulsetv.com. If it's not on sale there, you can find it elsewhere by just searching for illumi Tower.

Just checked on 6/9/16. You can get two Illumi Towers for $32.00 here on Pivot.tv.

Chad's Crappy Corner and another 'cheap science gadget' - his theme for June.

Chad's theme for June picked by our loyal Patreon is cheap gadgets that have something to do with science. His gadget for this week is the endless named: Neewer 60X-100X Optical Zoom Mobile Phone LED Microscope Lens with Universal Clamp for iPhone 6S plus/6S/6/6plus/5 5c 5s,Samsung Galaxy S5 G900H /S4 i9500/S3 i9300/ Note 2 II/ Note 3 III/Note 4 IV

Here's what Amazon says about it: 60X-100X zoom microscope lens for iPhone 6 (and of course all the other devices mentioned in the title above). Comes with universal clamp; Bright LED light of the Magnifying Glass provides enough light at any dim conditions;

Great product for the watch making industry, especially for inspecting the tiny objects; Perfect for biological, jewelry, coins, stamps, antiques, precision parts, etc. 3 out of 5 stars 84 customer reviews. It's $12.99 and Amazon Prime at the link below.

And Chad's take: Chad loves this device!! Watch this video to see just how much he loves it. But, like my LED Tower Light above, his also had a wonky LED switch. At first Chad thought the light wouldn't work at all, which would actually make the device useless since it must be so close to the object you want to magnify. But he got it working and we saw in great detail the lettering on a quarter and even the fibers in a dollar bill! He also saw a bit of fingerprints. This device does magnify a lot, but as you'll see it hard to zoom out since the lowest magnification is 60X, But, Chad thought this was a great buy at about $13.00. Be sure to watch the video of the show to judge for yourself. Amazon link:

Not available now on Amazon.

***********************

We’re looking for more Viewer Videos!

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show, so here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:

I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.

-

I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.

-

My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.

-

My Favorite Gadget of All Time: Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.

-

Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll a tiny amount of fame (hopefully), an autographed MAD magazine and a 35-year-old Alfred E. Neuman picture. So that's one more (so-so) reason to send in your video! IMPORTANT: We'll just shower you with praise for your video if you live outside the US or Canada since we can't afford to send stuff outside of those two places. (Thanks for understanding.)

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv
