Wake to light, or sound, or both!

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010, Netcast 1104

The new Rise & Shine Natural Alarm Clock from Verilux features an adjustable LED panel that creates dawn and dusk simulations. You can adjust the brightness from a touch of light to full power, which is almost real sunshine bright. I counted them, and the light panel has a total of 100 blue and white LED’s! Now if that’s not enough light, this device can also power and control an external lamp. If you want to go to sleep or wake up to music there’s an FM radio sound system with 5 watts of output. It’s mono, but I think the full range speaker sounds really decent. There’s an SD card slot and the Rise & Shine ships with an SD card with prerecorded wake and sleep sounds. You can also insert your own SD card. There are USB and auxiliary inputs too. Verilux says their new Rise & Shine Natural Sleep System helps guide the body's internal circadian rhythms that regulate sleeping and waking. The system progressively dims or brightens the lights while simultaneously decreasing or increasing the sound to create revitalizing, natural and effective sleeping and waking programs. But you don’t have to take their word for it. There’s a 30-day money back guarantee so you can try it for yourself. Dimensions of the system are: 9.25” x 5.5” x 4.75”. And the cost? $249.99 But if you sign up for their email specials, you’ll receive a 20% off coupon for your next order of $100 or more. Coupon instructions are sent via email after you sign up. So that drops the price to just under $200.

IMPORTANT UPDATE! I have been notified by the manufacturer that product delivery has been uexpectedly delayed. It is now expected to be on sale at the end of July. Sorry about that.

A new, improved version keyboard for 'hunt 'n peckers'.

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010 Netcast 1103

There have been many keyboards designed especially for Hunt 'n Peckers, those folks who don’t know how to use the standard QWERY keyboard. They prefer to hit the letters one-at-a-time as they ‘hunt & peck’. The Fastfingers Keyboard has several unique advantages for all kinds of typists. If two people share the computer and one is a touch typist and one is a ‘hunt ‘n pecker’, the Fastfingers Keyboard works for both. Instead of having to plug in and use two different keyboards, you just touch a button to toggle to the alphabetical (ABC) or the standard (QWERTY) key layout. It’s Plug & Play, just plug into a USB Port and select the layout option that works best for you. But wait! There’s more! If you’re into instant-messaging, there are shortcut keys to common acronyms like: LOL, BRB, etc.) Other Internet shortcut buttons provide instant access to web browsing and e-mail , plus there are media shortcut buttons that allows easy music or video playback and volume control. Compatible with PC and Mac computers. $29.99.
