A 3-in-1 charging cable, great for travel.

It’s the Magic Cable Trio from Innergie. Innergie makes all kinds of USB charging devices for home, auto and travel. The Magic Cable Trio is pretty convenient. It provides you with one cable that can be used to charge and sync many different portable devices. The handy integrated smart multi-tip 3-in-1 design means you can use it for devices with a Micro USB (Blackberry, Smart Phones and more) or Mini USB connector. The Magic Cable Trio’s 30 pin adapter is designed for use with Apple iPod, iPhone and iPad and is certified for use with these devices. A complete list of all compatible devices the cable can charge is at the Innergie website. This is a real space saver for those who like to travel light, but carry an assortment of personal electronics that need charging. It retails for under $20.

Here's a gadget you shouldn't touch (or buy)! The One Touch Can Opener.

It may take just one touch to operate this can opener, but that’s after you touch it a lot trying to get the battery cover off. Then you’ll spend another 20 minutes trying to get the cover back on once the batteries are in! It uses 2 AA batteries, which are not included. Here’s a bit of the product description on Amazon: The One Touch Can Opener is the fast and easy way to open cans. Just place the One Touch on top of the can, press the button and the can will be open in seconds. When cutting is complete just lift the One Touch off the can and the magnet will conveniently pick up the lid for you. It's that easy! The One Touch Can Opener is the last can opener you'll ever buy. It opens any can small, medium or large quickly and easily. Unlike conventional can openers, the One Touch cuts beneath the lid, not through the top, so the sides of the lid will be smooth with no sharp, dangerous edges. At About 6" long, it fits easily in a drawer for storage.” And now back to me. Here’s what I found after trying to open four cans with theOne Touch Can Opener.  It wouldn’t open one can at all; it just didn’t like the can. It would move a ¼” and stop. On the other cans it stopped and started, slowed down, then speed up. It took at least a minute to open a can. On one of the three remaining cans it didn’t cut all the way around, so I had to twist the lid off. And after opening a can some of edges were not only sharp, but sharp and ragged! I paid $13.99 for mine. But on Amazon, they sell for as high as $29.99. They were far more negative reviews online than positive ones. I wouldn’t recommend this except maybe for laughs, as your guests watch it struggle to open a can!

Something else Leo liked in 2012 and still uses.

One of Leo’s picks in May, 2012 for his Turn The Table Turkey - or Treasure was the new Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Cover. It’s a treasure, not a turkey. Leo showed us how it acts as a super-thin beautifully designed screen cover for the iPad 2 and iPad 3rd generation. Since the aluminum exterior of the keyboard cover matches the iPad, it looks like you’re carrying a high tech compact netbook. But this is more than a cover. There’s a built-in Bluetooth wireless keyboard. And it features a magnetic hinge that serves a dual purpose. TheLogitech Ultrathin Keyboard Cover snaps on and off like most magnetic covers, but once it’s off, lay it on your table or desk. You’ll find the narrow groove back of the keyboard is magnetic too and can be used to lock your iPad in place. It works best in landscape orientation, but Leo showed us it could still hold his iPad in the vertical position, but it’s not as secure. Another neat feature is that the iPad knows when its paired to a Bluetooth keyboard and it doesn’t allow the virtual keyboard to pop up. That means you’ll have a lot more screen real estate when typing with this keyboard. Leo likes this a lot and he says the ‘price is right’, at $99.99. It just started shipping and my guess is that the price will drop once it’s in wide distribution. Beware that several websites are offering this keyboard at $119.99, $20 above the suggested retail price. They do that when a product is first introduced and in short supply. But on Amazon is under $100.

Now you don't have to stand in front of the shredder, feeding it.

The new Stack-and-Shred paper shredders from Swingline get my vote for the best device I saw at Showstoppers. I have so many checks, statements, tax returns, etc. stuck in file drawers waiting until I find time to shred them. With the Stack-and-Shred you don’t have to sit there and feed them in 1 or 10 or 20 pages at a time. You don’t have to feed them at all!  With this device you stack papers to be shredded in the feeder, almost the same way you load paper into the printer tray. Then shut the lid and move on to other chores. The Hands Free Auto+ technology automatically rolls and feeds paper into the cutters for you. You don’t have to be there to do anything. A spokesperson told me the shredder works slower, which means it’s much quieter and much less likely to jam. The Stack-and-Shred shredders not only shred paper, but also staples, paperclips and credit cards. There are various larger models that can shred 60, 80, 100, 250 or 500 sheets. The 60X is small enough to easily slide under a desk and should be plenty for the small office. MSRP is $250+, but do a web search and you can find it for about $150 to $160. More info:
