Today we played: “Should I do the gadget I had scheduled?" or do “what’s in the box that UPS just delivered?”

Leo & and the majority of people watching us record the Daily Giz Wiz overwhelming voted for “What’s in the Box”. So I used my OPEN IT to cut into the newest delivery. The box contained Western Digital’s new 1TB My DVR Expander. I reported on the original WD Digital Expander when it came out in 2007. The basic idea didn’t change, so let’s start with that: Don’t you hate having to delete movies you haven’t watched yet because there’s no more space on your DVR? Well that doesn’t have to be the case any longer with My DVR Expander. It adds a ton of extra memory to the very popular DVR model 8300/8300HD box from Scientific Atlanta. (It works with TIVO too, but check with your cable provider if you have any doubts.) No more erasing movies you haven't watched because your DVR (Digital Video Recorder) ran out of space. This 500 GB Western DVR Expander can add up to 300 hours of standard video and up to 60 hours of high def video storage! It uses a single eSata cable (external Sata) cable, which is included. I have Time Warner Cable and until about 6 months ago their software didn’t work properly with the DVR Expander, but it does now after the last upgrade. The new DVR Expander now adds 1TB of memory! That’s about 600 hours more digital recording, or up to 120 hours of digital HD recording. The list price is only $159.00 for 1 TB of storage, but Leo did a web search and found it for about $20 less. There is also a USB version.
