Giz Wiz #1547 December 3rd 2015, our 31st Independently Produced Giz Wiz Show

If you'd like to support OMGChad & DickDe in our independent venture, (we pay for everything ourselves) just click the Patreon link at the top of this link: http://www.gizwiz.tv/.  You can also contribute just once via PayPal there too. And thank you! Our show wouldn't exist with our viewer's support.

Three new 2015/2016 products from Pepcom's Wine, Dine & Demo. (Recorded on November 19th, 2015.

Will you crave a freshly made cold soda, as much as you crave a freshly brewed cup of coffee? Meet Keurig Kold.

If you have a Keurig K-Cup machine, you'll be probably be surprised at how much bigger their new Keurig Kold is. It's 19.25” deep, 12” wide and approximately 15” tall. It's not a good fit for a small apartment because it takes up a lot of counter space. It does have a water tank like the hot beverage Keurig machine, and it uses it's own special pods. To make a cold beverage, take a pod and remove the 'freshness' tab from the bottom. Then insert it in the machine and push the lighted button. It takes about 90 seconds to make an 8 ounce 39 degree (Fahrenheit) carbonated beverage. Surprisingly, carbonation is done by the pod, no gas cylinder is needed. As you'll learn in the video, there is a very wide assortment of drinks available, especially drinks from Coke who helped finance this machine. The mojito I had was great - the pod contains everything but the liquor. I also had a Coke-Zero which is my favorite soda. It was okay, but it did have an after-taste I don't find with bottled or canned Coke Zero. And then there's the price. The machine is $299.00, and the pods are four for about $5.00. That means each 8 ounce soda serving is $1.25. I'm not sure people will pay as much for a 'fresh' soda as they will for 'fresh' cup of coffee. Time will tell how successful Keurig Kold will be.

A Super-fast 3D Printer!

As fast as Lightning is how LSPc Technology describes their upcoming NEXA3D printer.

At the Pepcom demo there actually wasn't much to see while watching the NX1 3D printer working. It's totally unlike any other 3D printer I've ever seen. Most the technology takes place inside the closed NX1 case. It's when the object being printed is nearing completion that the top rises and you see it being completed. Here's a bit of technology (that I don't quite understand) from the company: LSPc Technology uses light to solidify the object from a liquid state. Using our process, we create an object printing up to 1 cm in 52 Seconds and more objects at the same time because the print process itself. The new generation of 3D Fast Printing is a uniquely revolutionary experience. Process starts as a film which gradually releases a thin oil layer that allows the object to form independently suspended from the liquid, creating high speed 3D objects with the finest precision. Unlike the other technologies, the object is not subject to mechanical stress. It doesn't work at high temperatures, which makes the process safe and simple to manage. Depending on when you read this, it may or may not be on Kickstarter. Their campaign ends Tuesday, December 22, 2015. As of 12/3/15 they had $105,625 pledged of a $170,133 goal. The expected retail will be $1850.00 but they told me 'deals would be available on Kickstarter'.

The Tiny Cube Projects A Big Picture.

Tiny CUBE = Big TV? You'll learn a lot about The CUBE in the video I shot at Pepcom (link below) and here's some more info via REF6, the company behind CUBE. The CUBE is ideal for a small home cinema, office, education, entertainment or even the bedroom. Equipped with its own speaker, internal battery and SD card reader, the CUBE is a complete mini home theater projection unit. Forget the tiny screen on your smartphone. You can easily project your pictures, play your games and even stream movies directly to the Cube from your Smartphone, Tablet or Laptop to a 120" display on any wall or ceiling around you. (Of course, the darker the room and the lighter the color of the 'screen display' area, the better the picture.) The CUBE's single piece aluminum casing is a powerhouse at just 2" cubed. Cube says that unlike conventional lamp-based projectors, their LED Lamp can last up to 20,000 hours. Connectivity: Micro SD, MHL & HDMI, Native Resolution 854x480 (WVGA), Throw Ratio 1.99:1 Dist/Width, Video Input up to Full HD 1080p, Dimensions: 2"x2"x1.9", Brightness: Full 50 Lumens. MSRP: $299.00, but as of 12/2/15, it was $279.00 on Amazon at the link below.

Chad's Crappy Corner and a brand new theme for December.

Chad polled our loyal (and much appreciated) Patreons and asked what theme they would like to see for December. They picked kitchen gadgets!

For his first kitchen gadget Chad picked the Charles Viancin Hibiscus Lid. This is a practical alternative to plastic wrap. Unlike plastic wrap this silicone lid can be reused over and over. The lid seals tight on all smooth rims, meaning any bowl can be used for food storage. The Sunflower Lid creates an airtight, watertight seal for reheating and storing. It can also be used while serving food, to keep your dishes hot or cold for longer. Each lid is oven, microwave, dishwasher and heat safe up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. They come in many sizes from about 2” to 11” and sell for about $5 to $11. Just like in the photo, you'll see that Chad showed us that you can put a lid on and then pick up the entire dish just by the lid. Chad's only compliant was that they all are so flowery and brightly colored. He wished they made a more 'manly' version. I agree with Chad, but I'll probably buy a couple anyway. There's a yellow version that's just a tad less flowery. But all is all, it's a great idea to find something better than that hated plastic wrap!

We’re looking for more Viewer Videos! We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show, so here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:

I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.

I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.

My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.

My Favorite Gadget of All Time: Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.

Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll a tiny amount of fame (hopefully), an autographed MAD magazine and a 35-year-old Alfred E. Neuman picture. So that's one more (so-so) reason to send in your video! IMPORTANT: We'll just shower you with praise for your video if you live outside the US or Canada since we can't afford to send stuff outside of those two places. (Thanks for understanding.)

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv
