The Giz Wiz Show 1670, April 13th 2018 Independent Show #153

The Giz Wiz Show recently started it's13th year! The first show was February 20th, 2006. And soon (May 2018) we'll be entering our fourth year of Independent Production! That's thanks to our wonderful Patreon supporters! If it wasn't for them, the Giz Wiz Show would be gone. If you'd like to support OMGchad & DickDe in our independent venture (we pay for everything ourselves, including travel) just click the Patreon link at the top of our show web page: http://www.gizwiz.tv  You can also contribute just once via the PayPal link that's there too. And thank you for doing that! Our show wouldn't exist without our viewer's support, but a bit more support would be a big help. (As we can say honestly, asking for more Patreon supporters is not to make money, it helps us lose less money doing The Giz Wiz. Thanks!)

Two more small storage options - and this time I like them both!

Here's a neat small parts organizer, easy to carry with the built-in handle. It's perfect for screws, nuts, bolts, SD cards, connectors, charging cables, etc. It features removable dividers so you can customize the organizational sizes. Simply pull dividers up to remove for storing larger items or press them down to lock dividers in place. The almost clear plastic lid allows you to find the right part quickly. The lid secures to the case with a hinge design so it's easy to open and close while keeping parts in view. It's made of plastic. Dimensions: 12.5” (L) x 10.25” (H) x 2.25” (W). With dividers, 21 compartments sized 1.60” x 2.125” x 1.75”. 2 compartments sized 7” x 2.5” x 2”. And the price was under $10 on 4/11/18, at $9.42.

Madesmart Granite Junk Drawer Organizer with Removable top tray

Here's a neat functional storage product solution I found on Amazon. It fits in a drawer or can sit on a shelf in kitchen or office. There's a sliding, movable tray with molded icons designed to create easy to find spaces for typical messy junk drawer items like scissors, pens, tape, rulers, post-its, etc. It's 15-Inch long, 11-1/2-Inch wide, 3-Inch high. It got good reviews on Amazon with more than 85% 4 star and 5 star reviews. Color: Granite $11.99. For some reason white is a lot more at $17.67.

I was 'attracted' to these 'magnetic gloves'!

MagnoGrip makes magnetic work gear and hand tools. Their Pro FingerGrip Magnetic Glove allows you to store metal parts and fasteners on the back of your hand while working. The index finger on each glove has an a small embedded magnet for use as a pick up tool. The palm material is enabled with Touchscreen Technology for operating smart phones and tablets. Our proprietary Maximum Feel fingertip design allows for pick up of small items without removing glove. But wait, there's more! Something they call Touchscreen Technology lets you use your smart phone or tablet without removing glove. The gloves are very comfortable and are made of stretch Spandex and Terry cloth. Adjustable wrist strap and natural pull tab for pulling gloves on and off. And a warning: Keep away from magnetic sensitive devices. About $23. Order by size.

It looks like you can buy the same gloves minus the magnets in the finger tips for less money: https://amzn.to/2JKrBRX As an Amazon Associate Giz Wiz Biz earns from qualifying Amazon purchases.

Waterpik Introduces a water flosser for the road.

I saw this new device several weeks ago at a Waterpik Press Event. I've been using a Waterpik for probably more than 50 years. (Lots of different models, of course.) This new one has ultra-compact and convenient design. Dubbed the Waterpik Sidekick Water Flosser, it's great for travel and makes it easy to water floss anywhere, anytime. As you see in my video it collapses easily for storage and fits in almost any purse or briefcase. It comes with a new flossing stylus with integrated classic tip and swivel handle. The tips are not changeable, so this is designed for a single user. The company says it removes up to 99.9% of plaque from treated areas. One neat feature is the global voltage plug. (The unit is not battery powered.) At first I thought they left the plug out of the box, but then I discovered it stores in the base of the unit and is held there magnetically. So techie! Kit includes storage case, flossing stylus, 13 ounce (400 ml) water reservoir, global voltage (100 240VAC, 60/50Hz) plus, and 3-year warranty. It ships in white, black (my favorite) and I believe there is a rose and white version too. MSRP is $129.99, but on 4/13/18 it was $110 on Amazon, and there was a $15 off coupon available, which would drop the price to $95.00. Prices on Amazon can change daily however.

Chad's Crappy Corner & His Second Gadget For His New April Theme!

Chad polled our loyal Patreon members and asked them to vote on his cheap theme for April. Their choice? Cheap Security Gadgets. This week Chad's pick is the SABRE Door Stop Alarm.

Here's a bit of info from Amazon: The SABRE Door Stop Alarm offers a practical, inexpensive means to help protect yourself and safeguard your belongings. The Door Stop Alarm is battery operated with a built in siren. It is portable and doesn’t require any wiring or complicated installation making it ideal for bedrooms, apartments and dorms as well as for hotel rooms when traveling. Pressure from an inward opening door sets off a 120 dB alarm that is likely to startle and scare off an intruder and wake you. Also, the anti-skid pad helps prevent door from opening. This is one of the only alarms which helps physically prevent an intruder from entering your bedroom or through other inward opening doors. $9.99

And Chad's take? Chad thought this was a great buy for under $10. And he said the 120 dB alarm is LOUD!! It takes a 9 volt battery, and there is screw to close the battery compartment if you want to use it. Chad's only complaint is that he wishes the door stop was a bit taller. It worked fine on his door, but he thought it might not work if you had a door with a very wide opening at the bottom. Otherwise it's a good and inexpensive safety gadget!

(Check the rest of the page because it seems you might get them cheaper if you buy 2 or 3 of them.)

+++++++++++++++++++++++

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show, so here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:

I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.

-

I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.

-

My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.

-

My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.

-

Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you'll also get an autographed 35-year-old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live, I canemail an autographed to you Alfred E. Neuman photo if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it's a copy. We've tested it out and fans say they look terrific!

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv
